Evaluation of electronic stability controllers using hardware-in-the-loop vehicle simulator

  • Hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) simulation is a very powerful tool to design, test and verify automotive control systems. However, well-validated and high degree of freedom vehicle models have to be utilized in these simulations in order to obtain realistic results. In this paper, a vehicle dynamics model developed in the Carsim Real Time program environment and its validation has been performed using experimental results. The developed Carsim real time model has been employed in the Tofas R&D hardware-in-the-loop simulator. Experimental and hardware-in-the-loop simulation results have been compared for the standard FMVSS No. 126 test and the results have been found to be in good agreement with each other. Two electronic stability control (ESC) algorithms, named the Basic ESC and the Integrated ESC, taken from the earlier work of the authors have been tested and evaluated in the hardware-in-the-loop simulator. Different evaluation methods have been formulated and used to compare these ESC algorithms. As a result, the Integrated ESC system has been shown superior performance as compared to the Basic ESC algorithm.

  • It is high time to prepare the online publication system of academic research paper. Online publications like digital research paper, e-Book, etc. are increased day by day as the information technology(IT) is developing continually. But, the legal aspect of publication system of academic research paper in Korea is not prepared yet. The purposes of this study are to examine the problems on the publication system of academic research paper in the context of digital goods and to frame a policy of legal proceedings in relation to the social science. The methodology used in this paper is theoretical analysis which is examining the case of academic research system and scientific journal in Korea. As a result of this study, following measures are suggested: (1) Legal provisions on the online publication system, that is, "Research Promotion Law of Korea" controlled by KRF(Korea Research Foundation) and MOE(Ministry of Education) should be revised. (2) Solution like software program and DB system proceeding the data on academic research paper should be prepared newly. (3) From the viewpoint of digital goods, both protecting the intellectual property right and settling the reliance upon online publication system should also be considered simultaneously.

  • The application of solar energy, in the field of alternative energy, was on the increase tendency. In the case of advanced nations, through continuous R&D, solar hot water heater with high efficiency has been used for the house and the industrial process on business, advanced nations were reached up the experimental stage of solar generation system. But, the actual circumstance of the domestic has been not accomplished the popularization of solar hot water heater and the settlement of it which is the fundamental stage of the solar energy usage. This trouble, the domestic was flooded with small enterprise for producing solar hot water heater, was caused by the popularization and the production without verification of performance. To supply the monitoring program for evaluating solar hot water heater, this research was purpose to improve the technical development of the enterprise for producing solar-heat hot-water-boiler and served as an aid for the enlargement and the popularization on solar energy.

  • Japanese apparel industries have deployed the activities of plannings, production & sellings by brand marketings. Owing to it, they satisfied customers and accomplished the goal of corporation objective market advantage. All through this process it is very essential to establish the concept of product Through the analysis of the brand development in Japanese total apparel corporation; 1) it accesses synthetically to acquire sales and target benefit by active marketing based on the analysis of market environment; 2) on relation with customer, it comes close to customer in the process of buying and consuming product and provides a customer satisfaction in the process of those. All the way of the process above and the precedent, it is to complete the goal of corporation. The development of the brand in Japanese apparel corporation depends on the corporate's customeroriented marketing. Due to it, Japanese apparel corporation perceives the differentiation that the consuming pattern of customer is its life style so that Japanese apparel corporation provides the product that can satisfy customer needs.

  • In this paper, the smoke filling process for the three types of atrium spaces are simulated u using the two types of deterministic fire model; zone models and field models. The zone models u used are the FffiST, CFAST, and CCFM.VENTS m떠els develo야퍼 at the Building and Fire R Research Laboratories, NIST, USA and the NBTC one-room model of FIR.ECAIι delveloped at C CSffiO, Austr;외ia. The field models used are the fire field model developed by W. K Chow and a a self-developed Sl\1EP(Smoke Movement Estimating Program) based on computational fluid d dynamics the$\alpha$1es. The results pn려icted by the two approaches are very similar. The field model u using SIl\1PLE algorithm or SIl\1PLER algorithm requires much more computing time compared w with the use of Sl\1EP using PISO algorithm.

  • The demand for the lighter parts compels new composite materials composed of nylon66 and glass fiber to be used for the clutch control hydraulic system to achieve the low cost, light weight and the simple production process. In this paper the feasibility of using those composite materials for the clutch system has been investigated. And the efforts have been concentrated to enhance the durability and the credibility of the system. The procedure has been developed to design the clutch system to satisfy the categories mentioned above and to analyze the durability of the system and to setup a simulation program for the realistic driving situations.

Difficulties in Parenting Influenced by the Mother's Characteristics and Child's Temperament (어머니의 특성과 자녀의 기질이 자녀 양육의 어려움에 미치는 영향)

  • This research investigated the difficulties in parenting influenced by the mother's characteristics and child's temperament. This study used first-year data from the Panel Study of Korean Children(PSKC), which was carried out under the R&D Center's child care policy. The following methods were used for analysis; descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and multiple regression using SPSS 13.0 program. First, the result is that the difficulties in parenting in terms of mother's sociology of population is more difficult when mother is early 30, low educational attainment and has no income and religion. Second, the result shows that relation between mother's characteristics or child's temperament and difficulties for parenting is affected by both depression, conflict of mother's characteristics and emotions of child's temperament. Third, the most important thing that affects to difficulties in parenting is in order of mother's depression, self-esteem, the method of bringing up, emotions of child's temperament and parent's trouble.

  • In the response to increasing the demands for electrical energy, much effort aimed to develop and commercialize 1MVA HTS power equipments that is supported by a grant from center for Applied Superconductivity Technology of the 21st Century Frontier R&D Program funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology is going on in Korea. For the development, the cryogenic insulation and winding insulation of it in this paper are discussed. In the first many types of dielectric insulating tests were carried out. In detail Breakdown characteristics of $LN_2$, FRP and turn insulating films, flashover characteristics along the FRP surface in $LN_2$ were verified after distinguishing insulation components in HIS windings. And then model windings were designed and insulation test was conducted. These included a AC withstand voltage test of 50kV rms and a lightning impulse test of 150kV at peak.

  • Divert and attitude control system(DACS) plays an important role for orbit transfer and attitude control, and therefore becomes important subject for recent space vehicle and Precision Guided Missile(PGM) development. To develop DACS system, main research areas include shape combination of pintle and nozzle to maximize thrust change, and reduction of aerodynamic pintle load to minimizle pintle driving force, and development of multi-axis control algorithm. In this paper, introduction, classification, and overseas/domestic research and development program, and prospects of DACS are reviewed and summarized.

  • Nowadays, the humankind's lives are affluent enough and the modern medical cure systems have made the humans' lives much longer. In spite of the modern medical development, the chronic & regressive diseases are rapidly increasing ironically. In this regards, many countries endeavoring to rely on the traditional or CAM instead of Conventional and Modern Medicines. The late Steve Jobs who sought for the natural therapy for his pancreatic cancer was one representative example. Every countries are investing huge amount of money to become the leader in the CAM market. Moreover, by preoccupying the world-wide standards, each country is trying to grab the market monopoliy. In this thesis, I examined several coutries' CAM markets and their CAM development strategies. These strategies should be considered for the KTM development Strategy. Fortunately, KTM has doing the main role in the Korean CAM development strategy. But to become the world leader in CAM market, the governmental committee should be established and the Financial Investment and Aid Program should be followed. It is very important to obtain the world standards. To do so, the R&D capability should be enhanced also. The world trends in CAM should be scrutinized and the Government Agency - Scholartic Group - Research institute have to cooperate for the same target.
