Based on the characteristics of 'Korean electric power industry R&D programs', this study proposes a new performance evaluation framework where electric power industry related R&D projects are scrutinized. The abovementioned R&D programs have their own goals and especially they emphasize the effectiveness as well as the efficiency of each subordinate R&D project. Hence, in this framework, a performance evaluation procedure is established and then a mathematical model is developed according to the procedure. The model calculates performance evaluation indices for a set of R&D projects integrating the effectiveness with the efficiency of each R&D project. In a case study with an empirical dataset, statistical significance is tested on the integrated performance evaluation indices of R&D projects regarding organizational types and program categories considered.

Let R be a ring and $D:R^n{\longrightarrow}R$ be n-additive mapping. A map $d:R{\longrightarrow}R$ is said to be the trace of D if $d(x)=D(x,x,{\ldots}x)$ for all $x{\in}R$. Suppose that ${\alpha},{\beta}$ are endomorphisms of R. For any $a,b{\in}R$, let < a, b > $_{({\alpha},{\beta})}=a{\alpha}(b)+{\beta}(b)a$. In the present paper under certain suitable torsion restrictions it is shown that D = 0 if R satisfies either < d(x), $x^m$ > $_{({\alpha},{\beta})}=0$, for all $x{\in}R$ or ${\ll}$ d(x), x > $_{({\alpha},{\beta})}$, $x^m$ > $_{({\alpha},{\beta})}=0$, for all $x{\in}R$. Further, if < d(x), x > ${\in}Z(R)$, the center of R, for all $x{\in}R$ or < d(x)x - xd(x), x >= 0, for all $x{\in}R$, then it is proved that d is commuting on R. Some more related results are also obtained for additive mapping on R.

The purpose of this study is to check whether the satisfaction of the R&D (Research & Development) project directly affects the R&D performance, and to find out whether the satisfaction with regional connectivity and the satisfaction with the R&D operation management significantly mediate the relationship that the satisfaction with the R&D project has on the R&D performance. In order to verify the research hypothesis on this, a total of 51 companies located in Jeollanam-do that actually conducted R&D research projects were surveyed and analyzed. In order to conduct an empirical study based on the collected questionnaire, a survey questionnaire related to the variables of the study model was composed based on a sample of 51 questionnaires. We used the SPSS program to verify the hypotheses in this study, and the hypotheses were verified by analyzing the validity, reliability, correlation, and deflection. As a result, there was a positive (+) significant relationship between R&D project satisfaction and R&D performance. In addition, it was found that the relationship between R&D project satisfaction and R&D performance was significantly mediated by the satisfaction with R&D regional connectivity and satisfaction with R&D project operation management.

In this study, the complementary or crowding-out effects of public R&D subsidy on private R&D investment in the cleaner production were analysed between the effects and the major determinants (company size, R&D investment intensity, ratio of government investment, R&D manpower intensity). Among 207 firms' projects, the number of the complementary effect was 95 (45.9%) while that of crowding-out effect was 38 (18.4%). Resulting from logistic regression, the higher the R&D investment of sponsored companies is, the more complementary effect they show, responding to public R&D subsidy, and increase own R&D investment. The other determinants, however, showed no significant effects on firms' R&D investment. To heighten the effect of public cleaner production R&D, it is need to increase the priority of R&D investment intensity among the determinants. And to increase the performance of governmental R&D investment, further studies for the individual public R&D programs are necessary.

Since R&D (Research and Development) of small companies is becoming more and more important, and government R&D grants are still increasing. This study aims to investigate the factors influencing R&D performance of small companies and necessary capabilities of them. Based on empirical study of 3,636 small companies which participated and completed government R&D grant project, technology innovation capability and technology commercializing capability of small companies are positively related with organizational competences, with moderating effects of entrepreneurship. In addition, their R&D capabilities are not significantly related with R&D commercializing performance directly, but mediated with organizational competences. The results of study suggest implications of measuring the R&D performance of small companies and government support policy with the importance of organizational competences as an intermediate variable of R&D performances.

To increase the performance of the light diffusion films, we controlled the three dimensional microstructure of the organic fillers(beads). The refractive index, the size distribution and the three dimensional distribution of beads play an important role to determine the performance of light diffusion films for the backlight unit of TFT-LCD.
