Objectives : Recently, the interest on medical education in flipped learning has been growing. Competency-based curriculum is also required through changes in teaching methods within the Korean medicine education. In this study, flipped learning method was applied to 'medical ethics' class to examine the perception and experience of flipped learning from the Korean medical student's perspectives. Methods : The study was conducted on 15 preparatory course freshmen students who took the 'medical ethics' course, in the second semester of the year 2017 at 'A' University. The study was proceded in two steps; 1) fill-in the questionnaire twice (before and after the class), and 2) in-depth interview with semi-structured questionnaire. The $1^{st}$ questionnaire in the first step was consisted of 'Experience on flipped learning before the class', 'Which section of the flipped learning class do participants have expectation', 'Interest and expectation on flipped learning'. In the $2^{nd}$ questionnare, the participants were asked 'Which section of the flipped learning section that the learning effect was maximized', 'Association between 'flipped learning' method and 'Medical ethics' course' with 5-point Likert scale and frequency. Results : The results showed that flipped learning method works very effectively in the 'medical ethics' course (63.6%). After the flipped learning class, the participants showed positive change in a attitude of the class (72.7%). However, this teaching method might be inappropriate for participants who had difficulties in pre-learning or a passive attitude and lecture-centered instruction (LCI) classes. Conclusions : Though applying flipped learning method to the 'Medical Ethics' was effective, to make pre-learning better, the instructors should prepare countermeasures for passive participants, help interact well among the participants, and plan a lesson thoroughly for changing LCI classes to student-centerd instruction(SCI).
Purpose: Patients hope to receive 'respected nursing' which guarantees the right of privacy and treatment as a human being in hospitals. However, no specific tool has been developed to measure patients' perceived respect from nurses while staying in hospitals. This study was conducted to develop a tool to measure the respect that they experience in hospital. Method: A basic questionnaire was made based on research literature, pilot studies, and collected data via patients' interviews. The questionnaire was verified by 5 members of an expert group, a chief nurse in the clinical area and 10 patients. We distributed the questionnaires to 266 randomly selected inpatients and carried out analyses of factors and content to evaluate the validity and reliability of the questionnaire. Result: According to the results of factor analyses, three factors such as 'cordial treatment', 'consideration', and 'recognition' were extracted, which took up to 61 percent from all variants. Final questionnaires has 30 questions on a 4-point scale. Conclusion: The questionnaire which was designed through the study showed a high reliability and validity. We anticipate that this questionnaire will contribute to fostering nursing care with respect for patients.
Purpose: This study was conducted to test the reliability and validity of Family Burden Questionnaire. Method: The subjects were 156 caregivers of children with acute or chronic disease. To test the reliability, internal consistency using Cronbach's α coefficient was analyzed, and factor analysis, known-group technique, and concurrent validity were utilized for validity test. Result: Cronbach's α coefficient of the tool was .89. Six factors were identified and explained 58.7% of the total variance. Through analysis using known-group technique, the difference of family burden between acute and chronic disease groups was statistically significant(t= -4.09, p<.001). Correlations with mood state, other family burden score by Family Burden Interview Schedule, quality of life, and health symptoms were also relatively high and statistically significant. Conclusion: Family Burden Questionnaire showed a relatively high validity and reliability to measure the burden of caregivers caring patients with various chronic conditions in Korea. For the further study, it may be reconsidered to identify the factor structure of the Family Burden Questionnaire with the various subjects from different age groups.
Background In Sasang Constitutional Medicine (SCM), human beings are classified into four constitutions: Taeyangin, Taewnin, Soyangin, and Soeumin. SCM presents various lifestyles and treatments for each constitution. The problem of SCM is that its diagnosis is so subjective that the result of the diagnosis depends on the doctor. In order to solve this problem, multiple approaches have been objectively researched. To use a questionnaire is the most common method among the different approaches. Since there are a few problems in the Questionnaire for the Sasang Constitution Classification II (QSCC II), which in recent days has been used frequently, the necessity of a new questionnaire has arisen. Objective The purpose of this study is to develop a new questionnaire for the objectivity of the Sasang Constitution Classification by complementing the existing questionnaire. Methods In order to search for the existing questionnaire's problems, I first compare the ratio of the amount of questions regarding external appearance to that of questions of mental characteristics and physiologic & pathologic symptoms in QSCCII and QSCCII +. We created the new questionnaires by reinterpreting ${\ulcorner}Dongyi$ Soose $Bowon{\lrcorner}$ through SCM professors' and medical residents' discussion and by adding some items related to the diagnosis about the constitution from other SCM books and clinical experience. Results 1. The new questionnaire for the Sasang Constitution Classification is self-reported questionnaire based on a multiple choice system of 4 questions. 2. The new questionnaire for the Sasang Constitution Classification consists of 28 questions, which include 7 questions about external appearance, 4 questions about mental characteristics, and 17 questions about physiologic & pathologic symptoms. 3. The new questionnaire for the Sasang Constitution Classification consists of 24 questions of Taeyangin, 28 of Taeumin, 28 of Soyongin, 28 of Soeumin. 4. We will have to verify validity and reliability of new questionnaire for rhe Sasang Constitution Classification.
This study evaluated the reproducibility and validity of the self-administered semiquantitative food frequency questionnaire used in a large prospective cohort study(Korean Cancer Research Survey) in middle-aged men. The questionnaire was administered twice at an interval of approximately two years(December, 1992-January, 1995), and four or five 24-hour recalls for each subject were collected at intervals of approximately three months. The results were as follows; 1) Although the distributions of the data estimated by the questionnaire were somewhat wider, the mean nutrient intakes of group estimated by our questionnaires and the multiple 24-hour recalls were roughly comparable. 2) The reproducibility determined by correlation of absolute(unadjusted nutrient intake) and calorie adjusted nutrient intakes from two semiquantitative food frequency questionnaires were more than 0.5, and the weighted kappa values were more than 0.4. 3) The Pearson correlation coefficients between unadjusted nutrient intakes values were average 0.40 on the average(Ca, 0.13-Carbohydrate, 0.58) at the first questionnaire vs. 24-hour recalls, and 0.28 at the second questionnaire vs. 24-hour recalls. The spearman rank order correlation coefficients were similar. When energy intake was adjusted, there was a slight reduction : 0.28 at the second questionnaire, 0.25 average on the second. In order to correct the measurement error of 24-hour recall data, the deattenuated correlation coefficient was calculated. It averaged 0.53 on the first questionnaire, 0.37 on the second questionnaire for unadjusted nutrient intake. for calorie-adjusted nutrient intake, it averaged 0.44 on the first questionnaire, 0.37 on the second questionnarie. 4) There was lower agreement(k<0.4) between the questionnaries and the 24-hour recalls. And the subjects classified in the same quartile by 24-hour recalls and first questionnaire were average 37$\%$(energy-adjusted values) and 40$\%$(unadjusted values) on the average. More than k10$\%$(average) of subjects were in the extreme quartile of the questionnarie and 24-hour recall method. But 8.2$\%$(average) of subjects classified in the lowest quartile of unadjusted nutrient intake level by the 24-hour recalls were in the highest quartile by the first questionnaire. These data indicate that our self-administered semiquantitative food frequency questionnarie is reproducible. Correlation coefficients comparing nutrient intakes measured by two different dietary assessment methods were less than 0.5. The validity of our questionnarie is not high enough.
Teaching the notion of limit of the sequence in high school mathematics needs special attention and accurate teaching methods, for it is one of the most important bases of the advanced mathematics. Therefore it is necessary for high school students to have the right understanding of the notion of limit of the sequence. In this paper, we survey several teaching methods of the notion of limit of the sequence in high school mathematics and introduce a new method using Excell program. Also through questionnaire survey we discuss and analyse students' reaction when they learn the notion of limit of the sequence. And based on that, we suggest a method that would be believed to improve the students' understanding for the notion of limit It should be also notified that questionnaire survey was performed in order to find out which method would be appropriate to teach the notion of limit of the sequence, and that the survey result was fully reflected in the guideline that suggested.
Background and Objectives: The diagnosis of flood stasis pattern is one of the most important methods in oriental medicine. This study empirically evaluated performance and preference of Hangul entry methods of five mobile phones through questionnaire and experiments. The questionnaire study revealed that 67% of respondents have been using SMS(short message service) more than six times a day, and that Hangul entry method is the most inconvenient thing when inputting Hangul characters. An experiment was conducted for assessing five Hangul entry methods in view of performance of entry time and errors, and subjective measures of satisfaction and preference. The results showed that Hangul entry method significantly affect objective performances as well as subjective measures at α=0.05 or 0.01. This study, in which real mobile phones were used, presented contrary result in terms of Hangul entry time, compared to the existing studies based on the conceptual models of Fitts' law or Hick-Hyman law.
