수치해석 기법을 이용한 발전용 단조 로타의 제조 공정 분석 및 공정 설계 (The manufacturing process analysis and design of the forged turbine rotor by using the numerical analysis technique)

  • Large-scale low-alloy steel shafts, used in the manufacture of steam turbine, are produced by ingot making, forging and heat treatemtn processes. The numerical analysis techniques are introduced to analyze and design the working conditions in each process. The solidification of a steel ingot is studied through the finite element method. The open die press forging and quenching process are simulated by viscoplastic and elastic-plastic finite element method, respectively. Thus numerical analysis techniques are very useful tools to study favorable working conditions for better and more desirable product quality.

분류층 가스화기 특징 및 공정모사 분석 (Characteristics and Modeling Analysis of Entrained Flow Gasifiers)

  • The gasification process has developed to convert coal into the more useful energy and material since decades. Despite the numberous design of ones, entrained flow gasifier of the major companies has had an advantage on the market. Because it has a merit of full-scale and high performance plant. In this paper, the gasification technologies of GE energy, Phillips, Siemens and Shell have been reviewed to compare their characteristics and a high performance gasification process was suggested. And the simulation model of gasifiers using Aspen Plus offered the quantitative comparison data for difference designs. The simulation results revealed the poor performance of the slurry feed than dry design. The corresponding cold gas efficiency of 77% is much lower than the 80.3% for the dry feed cases. The exergy analysis of the difference syngas quenching system showed that chemical quenching is superior to another. The results of analysis recommend the two stage gasifier with dry multi-feeder as the energy effective design.

  • Vacuum heat treatment(indirect heating method) has long exposure time at high temperature and low quenching rate. Contrarily salt bath heat treatment (direct heating method) has short exposure time at high temperature and fast cooling rate. With these different features of processes, mechanical properties such as hardness, tensile strength and impact strength of products show very different results. In this study, Salt bath heat treated products showed higher tensile strength and impact strength than vacuum heat treated products but hardness was not much different. These lower mechanical properties of vacuum heat treated products are due to differences in heat process and secondary hardening with high temperature tempering process. Consequently, It indicates that salt bath heat treatment is better way than vacuum heat treatment for product to have high mechanical properties.

  • The demand on quantitative measurement of the heat flux is motivated in making higher-quality steel product through a water quenching process of plate mill. To improve a spatial degree of heat flux measurement, the multi-point heat flux measurement was carried out by a unique experimental technique that has a combination of the existing single-point heat flux gauge. The corresponding heat flux can be easily determined by Fourier's law in a conventional way. The multi-point heat flux gauge developed in this study can be applicable to measure the surface heat flux, the surface heat transfer coefficient during a water quenching applications of steelmaking process. The results exhibit different heat transfer regimes; such as single-phase forced convection, nucleate boiling, and film boiling, that are occurred in close proximity on the multi-point heat flux gauge quenched by water impinging jet.

  • Fluorescence of quinolones including norfloxacin, ciprofloxacin and S- and R-ofloxacin is quenched upon association with single and double-stranded DNA (ss- and ds-DNA). The ratios of fluorescence intensity in the presence of DNA to its absent were plotted with respect to the DNA concentration to construct the Stern-Volmer plot. The slope of the Stern-Volmer plot become larger as the temperature is lowered, ensuring that the fluorescence quenching is static process, i.e., the fluorescence is quenched by formation of the non-fluorescent complex between quinolone and DNA. In the static quenching mechanism, the quenching constant which is equivalent to the slope of the Stern-Volmer plot, is considered as the equilibrium constant for the association of quinolones and DNA. From the temperature-dependent equilibrium constant, ${\Delta}H^0\;and\;{\Delta}S^0$ was obtained using the van’t Hoff relation. In general, association of the quinolone with ds- as well as ss-DNA is energetically favorable (an exothermic) process while the entropy change was unfavorable. Due to the steric effect of the substituents, the effect of the quinolone ring is smaller on the ss-DNA compared to ds-DNA.

  • A great emphasis has been placed on the design of heat treatment process to achieve desired microstructure and mechanical property of final product. In this study, finite element analysis was carried out to predict temperature, microstructure and hardness of eutectoid steel after water quenching. Convective heat transfer coefficients were determined by inverse analysis using surface temperatures measured with three different installation methods of thermocouples. Finally, the effect of convective heat transfer coefficients on the prediction of temperature history and hardness was analyzed by comparing experimental and simulation results.

  • Salt bath heat treatment is usually used but recently vacuum heat treatment is increased for the heat treatment of hot work die steels. The differences in two heat treatment processes were compared by testing the mechanical properties of heat treated products. With two different features of processes, mechanical properties such as hardness, tensile strength and impact strength of products show very different results. In this study salt bath heat treated products showed higher tensile strength and impact strength than vacuum heat treated products but hardness was not much different. These lower mechanical properties of vacuum heat treated products are due to differences in heating and quenching process.

  • The development of eco-friendly low pressure carburizing system with high pressure gas quenching (LPC_GQ, 500kg/charge) led to new stage in the fundamental case-hardening treatments. This is due to its ability to provide tighter tolerances on the carburizing process with notable reductions in distortion of the carburized and hardened workpiece. This system is characteristics by high uniformity and reproducibility of heat treatment results, absence of an intergranular oxidation layer, carburizing of complex shapes, reduced cycle time, low operating costs, simplified production, eliminate post washing, and reduced grinding costs.

  • Heat treatment is a controlled heating and cooling process to improve the physical and/or mechanical properties of metal products without changing their shapes. Today finite element method is widely used to simulate lots of manufacturing processes including heat treatment and surface hardening processes, which aims to reduce the number of time- and cost-consuming experimental tryouts. In this study we tried, using this method, to simulate the full carburizing process that consists of carburizing, diffusing and quenching, and to predict the distribution of carbon contents, phase fraction and hardness, thermal deformation and other mechanical characteristics as the results. In the finite element analysis deformation, heat transfer, phase transformation and diffusion effects are taken into consideration. The carburizing process of a lock gear, a part of the car seat recliner, that is manufactured by the fine blanking process is adopted as the analysis model. The numerical results are discussed and partly compared with experimental data. And a combination of process parameters that is expected to give the highest surface hardness is proposed on the basis of this discussion.
