  • Acoustic tuning frequency of quarter-wave resonators is investigated numerically to suppress combustion instability in a liquid rocket engine. A quarter-wave resonator is adopted, which was designed from the cold acoustic test for optimal damping condition. First, in a model combustion chamber scaled down from a full-scale chamber, reactive flow filed is analyzed numerically and acoustic-pressure responses are examined. Next, thermodynamic properties in the resonators are predicted. Based on the data, frequency tuning method is studied. The optimum tuning length of each resonator is proposed and thereby, sufficient damping is produced.

  • Acoustic tuning of quarter-wave resonator is investigated numerically to suppress combustion instability in liquid rocket engines. A model combustion chamber is adopted. First, basic acoustic characteristics are examined and acoustic damping is pursued by quarter-wave resonators. Next, for frequency tuning of the resonators, thermodynamic properties inside the acoustic resonators are estimated based on the numerical data. Maximum damping capacity is obtained when the resonators are designed to have the optimum length calculated with the properties. But, damping capacity induced by the resonators with the same length is comparable with it.

  • Backhole, which is one of geometric parameters in swirl coaxial injectors, is found to affect the inner flow motion and the acoustic characteristics of the swirl injector. In order to analyze the effect of the backhole as a damping device such as acoustic cavities of the combustion chamber, it was regarded as a Helmholtz or Quarter-wave resonator. As a result, it is known that the swirl coaxial injector with the backhole may produce the resonant frequency coincided with the frequency of the combustion chamber.

  • A linear acoustic analysis is performed to explore the characteristics of acoustic damping by a gas-liquid scheme coaxial injector in a liquid rocket engine. The injector can play a role of acoustic resonator. Acoustic-damping characteristics of half-wave resonator are compared with those of quarter-wave resonator. Various effects of the boundary absorption coefficient, injector length and sound speed in combustion chamber and resonator are investigated. As a result, short tuning length of resonator and low sound speed of the medium have a favorable effect on acoustic damping. As the boundary absorption coefficient decreases, the tuning range of the resonator length becomes narrower.

  • The heavy ion accelerator that will be built in Daejeon, Korea utilizes superconducting cavities operating in 2 K. The cavities are QWR (quarter wave resonator), HWR (half wave resonator), SSR1 (sing spoke resonator1) and SSR2. The main role of the cryomodule is supplying thermal insulation for cryogenic operation of the cavities and maintaining cavities' alignment. Thermal and structural consideration such as thermal load by heat leak and heat generation, cryogenic fluid management, thermal contraction, and so on. This paper describes detailed design considerations and current results have being done including thermal load estimation, cryogenic flow piping, pressure relief system, and so on.

  • A superconducting ion-Linac (iLinac), which is supposed to work as the injector in the High Intensity heavy-ion Accelerator Facility project, is under development at the Institute of Modern Physics (IMP), Chinese Academy of Sciences. The iLinac is a superconducting heavy ion linear accelerator approximately 100 meters long and contains 96 superconducting cavities in two types of 17 cyromodules. Two types of superconducting resonators (quarter-wave resonators with a frequency of 81.25 MHz and an optimal beta β = v/c = 0.07 called QWR007 and half-wave resonators with a frequency of 162.5 MHz and an optimal beta β = 0.15 called HWR015) have been investigated. The cavity design included extensive multi-parameter electromagnetic simulations and mechanical analysis, and its results are described in details. The fundamental power coupler and cavity dynamic tuner designs are also presented in this article. The prototypes are under manufacturing and expected to be ready in 2023.

  • The combined structure of both an annular dielectric resonator and a quarter-wave monopole is proposed to generate an omnidirectional radiation pattern over the wideband frequency range. The monopole works at the lower frequency band and excites the cylindrical dielectric resonator along its center point by electrical coupling mechanism. The rectangular shape of the DR is cut to generate the wideband operation of 4.7-18.2 GHz. The geometrical parameter of cylindrical dielectric resonator is 5.8 mm, 11.6 mm and 6.0 mm in inner diameter, outer diameter and height, respectively.

  • Damping characteristic according to acoustic cavity's geometries was investigated to control the high frequency combustion instability occurring in the Liquid Rocket Combustion Chamber by experimental test and linear analysis. Its diameter was determined as a design parameter and its orifice length and diameter were appointed as fixed parameter in this study. Result shows that the damping capacity has been almost constant through all the experiments despite using the same orifice and helmholtz resonators which have different volume.

  • Modified compact combline bandpass filters are proposed based on the miniaturized quarter-wave transmission line which is composed of the parallel coupled line and lumped capacitors. The electrical length of the parallel coupled line in a resonator, which determines the size of combline bandpass filters, is just $5^{\circ}$ or $7^{\circ}$, resulting in a compact circuit area. The designed combline bandpass filter also has a wide upper stopband by suppressing the spurious passbands, not moving. Measured results of two fabricated filters centered at 400MHz show good agreement with the theoretical predications.

  • Swirl injector with adjustable backhole length was analyzed to suppress high-frequency combustion instability in Liquid Rocket Engines. In order to analyze the effect of variable backhole injector as an acoustic absorber, backhole injector was regarded as a quarter-wave resonator. As a result of theoretical approaches and acoustic tests, backhole injector with adjustable length could decrease the unstable modes of combustion chamber. And the damping efficiency was estimated by measuring damping rates experimentally.
