  • In this paper, we proposed a blind watermarking algorithm to use characteristics of a scalar quantizer which is similar with the recommended in the JPEG2000 and JPEG. This algorithm shifts a quantization index according to the value of each watermark bit to prevent losing the watermark information during the compression by quantization. Therefore, the watermark is embedded during the process of quantization, not an additional process for watermarking, and adaptively applied as an assigned quantizer according to application area. In the embedding process, a LFSR(Linear feedback shift register) is used to hide the watermarking positions. Therefore the embedded watermark can be extracted by only the owner who knows the initial value of LFSR without the original image. The experimental results showed that the proposed algorithm satisfies the robustness and imperceptibility corresponding to the major requirement of watermarking.

  • In this paper, we present a novel digital watermarking technique based on the concept of multiresolution decomposition and Human Visual System(HVS). Proposed watermarking is to embed watermark by quantization, that is to construct ‘perceptually lossless’quantization matrix, by using a quantization factor for each level and orientation and variance within a band. We compare our approach with another wavelet domain watermarking methods. Simulation results show the superior performance of robustness for variety image distortions.

  • In this paper, we propose a new blind watermarking method that embeds a watermark on the lowest wavelet subband coefficients, while most watermarking techniques embed watermarks in the middle frequency range for robustness and fidelity. A new embedding algorithm for watermarking is proposed that embeds a bi-level watermark sequence into randomly selected wavelet coefficients on the lowest subband(LL) using a quantization in order to be robust. Experimental results prove our novel embedding strategy is invisible and good rate-distortion-robustness performance.

  • In this paper, we propose a robust multi-watermarking method based on vector quantization using an index transform function. In contrast with the conventional watermark embedding methods to embed only one watermark at a time into the original image, we present a method to embed multiple watermarks for copyright protection. The proposed method efficiently enhances the robustness by index transform function which minimizes changes of vector quantization indices against various attacks. Experimental results show that the proposed method has a good robustness against various attacks compared with the conventional multi-watermarking method based on vector quantization.

  • Digital watermarking is a technology for preventing illegal copying, for protecting intellectual property rights and copyrights, and for suggesting grounds of the ownership by inserting watermarks into digital contents. Generally speaking, watermarking techniques cannot escape from data distortion and quality degradation due to the watermark insertion. In order to overcome the shortcoming, zero-watermarking techniques which do not change the original data have been proposed recently. This paper proposes CSMVQ(Chaotic SMVQ), a zero-watermarking system for SMVQ(Side Match Vector Quantization) which shows better compression ratio and quality and less blocking effect than VQ(Vector Quantization). In SMVQ, compression progresses from left top to right bottom in order to use the information of the two neighbor blocks, so it is impossible to insert watermarks chaotically. In the process of encoding, CSMVQ dynamically considers the information of the (1 to 4) neighbor blocks already encoded. Therefore, watermark can be inserted into digital contents in chaotic way. Experimental results show that the image quality compressed by CSMVQ is better than that of SMVQ and the inserted watermark is robust against some common attacks.

  • In this paper, we propose a robust and fragile watermarking technique for tamper proofing of still images. Robust watermarks are embedded by quantization with a robust quantization step-size, and it is imperceptible value for human visual system. Fragile watermarks are embedded by thresholding and quantization with EW(Embedded Zerotree Wavelet) algorithm. The proposed method enables us to distinguish malicious change from non-malicious change. Futhermore this technique enables us to find tampering regions and degrees.

  • In this paper, we propose a removable logo watermarking technique for copyright protection of digital image. Then, visible logo is inserted into digital image to protect copyright, and the information removed by the logo is embedded by a new quantization watermarking. In a legal usage, the image can be reconstructed without logo after watermarking detection process. Experiment results show that the proposed method maintains high image quality in both watermarked images and reconstructed images, and is practical and effective in protection of image copyright.

  • This paper proposed a blind watermarking method for video contents which satisfies both the invisibility and the robustness to attacks to prohibit counterfeiting, modification, illegal usage and illegal re-production of video contents. This watermarking algorithm targets MPEG compression system and was designed to control the amount of watermarking to be inserted according to the adaptive quantization scale code to follow the adaptive quantization of the compression system. The inserting positions of the watermark were chosen by considering the frequency property of an image and horizontal, vertical and diagonal property of a $8{\times}8$ image block. Also the amount of watermarking for each watermark bit was decided by considering the quantization step. This algorithm was implemented by C++ and experimented for invisibility and robustness with MPEG-2 system. The experiment results showed that the method satisfied enough the invisibility of the inserted watermark and robustness against attacks. For the general attacks, the error rate of the extracted watermark was less than $10\%$, which is enough in robustness against the attacks. Therefore, this algorithm is expected to be used effectively as a part in many MPEG systems for real-time watermarking, especially in the sensitive applications to the network environments.

  • In this paper, we propose the image watermarking method for good compression ratio and satisfactory image quality of the cover image and the embedding image. This method is based on the singular value decomposition and the vector quantization using fuzzy c-mean clustering. Experimental results show that the embedding image has invisibility and robustness to various serious attacks. The advantage of this watermarking method is that we can achieve both the compression and the watermarking method for the copyright protection simultaneously.
