  • This study was conducted to validate the semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire that was developed to assess the intakes of fatty acids, as well as energy, carbohydrates, fat, protein, minerals and vitamins in Korean adults. The validity of the semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire was tested on 78 subjects (31 men,47 women) aged 34 to 66 years. The semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire included 93 food items and was validated on two 3-day dietary records. The mean intakes and the Spearman Correlation Coefficients between the semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire and the two 3-day dietary records were analyzed for each nutrient and food group level. The mean nutrient intakes obtained from the semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire were estimated to be greater than those of the two 3-day dietary records. The Spearman Correlation Coefficients between the energy-adjusted nutrient intakes from the semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire and the two 3-day dietary records ranged from 0.24 for polyunsaturated fatty acids to 0.55 for fat in men and from 0.29 for polyunsaturated fatty acids to 0.55 for saturated fatty acids in women, respectively. The Spearman Correlation Coefficients for food intake ranged from 0.11 for teas and beverages to 0.58 for grains and their products in men,-0.04 for potatoes and starches to 0.73 for milk and dairy products in women. Foods consumed regularly had lower intra-person variation and tended to have higher observed correlation coefficients. These results indicate that the semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire is a useful tool for estimating nutrient intakes, particularly of total fat and saturated fatty acid intakes.

  • Coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) has emerged as a pivotal tool for diagnosing and risk-stratifying patients with suspected coronary artery disease (CAD). Recent advancements in image analysis and artificial intelligence (AI) techniques have enabled the comprehensive quantitative analysis of coronary atherosclerosis. Fully quantitative assessments of coronary stenosis and lumen attenuation have improved the accuracy of assessing stenosis severity and predicting hemodynamically significant lesions. In addition to stenosis evaluation, quantitative plaque analysis plays a crucial role in predicting and monitoring CAD progression. Studies have demonstrated that the quantitative assessment of plaque subtypes based on CT attenuation provides a nuanced understanding of plaque characteristics and their association with cardiovascular events. Quantitative analysis of serial CCTA scans offers a unique perspective on the impact of medical therapies on plaque modification. However, challenges such as time-intensive analyses and variability in software platforms still need to be addressed for broader clinical implementation. The paradigm of CCTA has shifted towards comprehensive quantitative plaque analysis facilitated by technological advancements. As these methods continue to evolve, their integration into routine clinical practice has the potential to enhance risk assessment and guide individualized patient management. This article reviews the evolving landscape of quantitative plaque analysis in CCTA and explores its applications and limitations.

  • Generally, there is confusion as to what constitutes TQM, though it can be regarded as a set of concepts and tools for getting all employees focused on continuous improvement, various schools of thought have defined or classified the critical success factors as constructs, concepts and principles. Therefore the main aim of this paper is to provide a practical approach for understanding the quality management terminology. Using the existing quality management measurement instruments available in literature, the terminology used is classified into constructs, practices and finally tools or techniques. Quality Management may then be viewed as a combination of the three sets of terminology. Drawing on the quantitative study which investigated the implementation of TQM within the SME, the critical factors of TQM as used in that study as used to demonstrate the practical approach or methodology for the understanding of the terms thus used. For the benefit of practitioners within the Construction Management field, a bit of clarity is required as regards the terminology used. This study contributes to clarifying the conflicting results being reported in the quality management literature which inevitably leads to having different levels of analysis of Quality Management. Accordingly, the strength of quality management compared with other business philosophies should then focus on the practical methodology, namely the practices and techniques.

  • Recently risk management based on a quantitative assessment is considered to improve the level of safety in Korea. This paper focuses on the procedure of the quantitative risk assessment for natural gas pipelines. For that purpose, the methods to estimate failure frequency based on failure causes from European Gas Pipeline Incident Data Group and BG Transco, to analyze consequence caused by fire, and to calculate individual risk and societal risk have been proposed systematically in this paper. Risk criteria of individual risk and societal risk have been proposed by considering the environment of pipeline route in Korea. The proposed procedure of quantitative risk assessment may be useful for risk management during the planning and building stages of a new pipeline, and modification of buried pipeline.

  • In order to investigate of technology competitiveness for domestic engineering enterprise, using the quantitative and objective patent. In these result, the technology competitiveness(Patent Activity Index, Patent Family Size Index, Patent Impact Index, Technology strength) of our enterprise is far inferior to another country. So we should try to achieve our superiority in competitive power, we devote ourself to put through technical improvements of our domestic engineering enterprise in many ways.

  • Forecasting have qualitative and quantitative methods. Quantitative one analyze macro-economic factors such as the rate of exchange, oil price, interest rate and also predict the micro-economic factors such as sales and demands. Applying various statistical methods depends on the type of data. when data has seasonality and trend, Time Series analysis is proper but when it has casual relation, Regression analysis is good for this. Time Series and Regression can be used together. This study investigate artificial neural networks which is predictive technique for casual relation and try to compare the accuracy of forecasting between regression analysis and artificial neural network.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the relationship between osteoporotic postmenopausal women and its bone mineral density value by using the single energy quantitative CT. 1. Decreasing BMD with age is evident. There is a significant low BMD value in the osteoporotic women compared with the healthy subgroup. 2. BMD decrease from T12 to L4, except in healthy premenopausal women. 3. Relationship of spinal BMD expressed as average BMD of T12 through L4 Show strong correlation with mean BMD in all vertebral levels. 4. There are significantly different BMD value from T12 through L4 in subgroup 1, 2, 3 but there is no statistically significant difference between subgroup 2 and 3. Conclusion, There is a significant decreasing BMD with age but it is difficult to differentiate postmenopausal relatively healthy women from osteoporotic women by BMD.

  • While a number of Korean companies have undergone ceaseless restructuring to survive today's rapidly changing global economy, the brick and mortar industry has been exerting their efforts to enhance the productivity through the development of new products, quality improvement, cost reduction measures. At present, various risk-evaluation measures have been taken in the fields at the discretion of an enterpriser, though, the effective methods enabling quantitative analysis are insufficient. Accordingly, this study is intended to contribute to the synthetic safety manage -ment in the factory fields and to suggest the quantitative -risk-analysis system by introducing such safety-estimation steps as assortment of processes, pre-assessment of risk factors, decision of risks, counter measures against studied risks, establishment of remedies.

  • Recently, the development of technology has been rapidly proceeding with information technology in various fields. Due to their abstract properties, proper evaluation of intangible assets is very difficult compared to evaluation of tangible assets. Intangible assets are knowledge, technology, and design etc. In general there are two approaches to evaluate the intangible assets such as qualitative and quantitative approach. The qualitative approach contains scoring approach, profile approach, checklist approach, and quantitative approach. Quantitative approach contains cost approach, market approach, income approach, and real-option approach. As an initial step for evaluation of safe work environments, this study compares and analyzes evaluation methods of intangible assets.
