  • Wetlands are a critical component of the global carbon cycle and are essential in mitigating climate change. Accurately quantifying wetland carbon emissions is crucial for understanding and predicting the impact of wetlands on the global carbon budget. The uncertainty quantifying carbon in wetlands may comes from the ecosystem's hydrological, biochemical, and microbiological variability. The Community Land Model is a sophisticated and flexible land surface model that offers several configuration options such as energy and water fluxes, vegetation dynamics, and biogeochemical cycling, necessitating careful consideration for the alternative configurations before model implementation to develop a practical model framework. We conducted a systematic literature review, analyzing the alternatives, focusing on the carbon stock pools configurations and the parameters with significant sensitivity for carbon quantification in wetlands. In addition, we evaluated the feasibility and availability of in situ observation data necessary for validating the different alternatives. This analysis identified the most suitable option for our study site, the Binbong Wetland, in Korea.

산림생태계 기후변화 조절서비스 계량화 방법 - 탄소 저장 및 흡수기능 계량화 방법을 중심으로 - (Quantifying Climate Change Regulating Service of Forest Ecosystem - Focus on Quantifying Carbon Storage and Sequestration -)

  • 산림생태계는 우리에게 다양한 재화와 서비스를 제공하고 있다. 재화와는 다르게, 산림으로부터 생산되는 생태계 서비스는 시장기작을 통해 가격형태로 평가가 이루어지지 못하는 문제를 지니고 있다. 이러한 평가의 불분명성은 산림생태계 서비스 관련 의사결정에 갈등을 초래하고 있다. 산림생태계 서비스에 대한 중요성과 그에 따른 합리적 의사결정의 필요성을 감안할 때, 산림생태계 서비스의 객관적인 평가가 도입되어야 한다. 최근 기후변화에 관심이 증대되면서, 탄소흡수원인 산림의 탄소저장 및 흡수기능에 대한 객관적 계량화의 필요성이 높아지고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 산림의 탄소저장 및 흡수기능을 평가하는 다양한 국내 외 모형의 규모, 출력인자, 입력인자 확보 가능성을 분석하여, 국내 적용 가능성을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 탄소저장 및 흡수면에서는 대부분의 모형이 국내에 적용 가능하였으며, 산림의 다른 조절기능(대기정화, 홍수저감, 침식조절, 수절정화 등)까지 포함할 수 있는 모형은 상대적으로 적은 것으로 평가되었다. 본 연구는 탄소저장 및 흡수원으로서의 산림생태계의 조절서비스를 계량화하는 연구에 도움이 될 것이다.

해체폐기량 산정 및 통합관리를 위한 시스템 개발 (Development of Integrated Computer System for Quantifying and Managing of Demolition Waste)

  • 지속가능한 발전을 추구하는 최근의 추세에서 해체산업은 자원의 재활용이나 재생측면에서 중요성이 더욱 커져가고 있다. 주택건립 및 기존주택현황을 고려할 때 해체시장의 규모는 계속 증가될 것으로 예측되고 있다. 따라서 지속가능한 발전을 위해서는 해체폐기단계에서 발생하는 건설폐기물을 정확히 예측하고 관리하는 것이 필요 하다. 그러나 해체업체의 규모가 영세하고 이에 대한 기술투자가 미비하여 이와 관련한 기준마련이나 시스템을 개발하기 위한 노력이 부족한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 해체물량산정을 자동화하기 위한 시스템을 개발하고자 한다. 본 시스템은 해체공사와 관련된 모든 활동을 통합해서 해체공사의 기획, 물량산정, 폐기물처리, 재재활용계획을 한 시스템내에서 처리할 수 있도록 구성한다. 시각화 시스템은 2D 도면을 3D화하여 해체시설물을 입체화하고 공정관리툴과 연계하여 해체공정이 진행됨에 따라 실시간으로 관리할 수 있도록 구성한다. 해체물량산정 또한 3D Object 라이브러리화 하여 물량산정을 쉽게 할 수 있는 방안을 제시한다. 해체 물량의 정확한 산정과 예측은 건설폐기물관리에 많은 도움을 줄 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

Comparison of Methods for Detecting and Quantifying Variation in Copy Numbers of Duplicated Genes

  • Copy number variations(CNVs) are known as one of the most important factors in susceptibility to genetic disorders because they affect expression levels of genes. In previous studies, pyrosequencing, mini-sequencing real-time polymerase chain reaction(PCR), invader assays and other techniques have been used to detect CNVs. However, the higher the copy number in a genome, the more difficult it is to resolve the copies, so a more accurate method for measuring CNVs and assigning genotype is needed. PCR followed by a quantitative oligonucleotide ligation assay(qOLA) was developed for quantifying CNVs. The aim of this study was to compare the two methods for detecting and quantifying the CNVs of duplicated gene: the published pyrosequencing assay(pyro_CNV) and the newly developed qOLA_CNV. The accuracy and precision of the assay were evaluated for porcine KIT, which was selected as a model locus. Overall, the root mean squares(RMSs) of bias and standard deviation of qOLA_CNV were 2.09 and 0.45, respectively. These values are less than half of those of pyro CNV.

  • 본 눈문에서는 기존 무선통신 시스댐의 스펙트럼 이용정도를 계량화할 수 있는 스펙트럼 이용척도 모텔을 연 구한다- 이모텔은 간섭 예측프로세스의 EMC 분석기법을 적용하여 송신기와 수신기사이의 간섭레벨읍 계산한 다. 많은 기존연구가 무선시스템의 주위에 간섭 등고선을 구성함으로서 스펙트럼 자원을 묘사한 반면에 조사한 방볍은 무선시스댐이 이용하고 있는 스펙트럼자원을 계량화하여 지형적인 영역 위에 묘사할 수 있도복 개발되 었다. 스펙트럼 이용척도모텔인 스펙트럼 이용대역폭과스펙트럼 이용요소의 계산을 검증하고그모델의 유용 성을 분석하기 위하여 컴퓨터 시율레이션을 수행하였다.

  • Nowadays liquid manure can no longer be regarded as a waste product, but as a compound fertilizer, which should be used as efficiently as possible, especially on the farm. Additionally, there is the intensified public discussion about environmental issues. With respect to the ecological effects of the proper application of liquid manure, administrative regulations in the form of guidelines, decrees and ordinances have been established in region. It is questionable though, if such quantifying restrictions bring a reduction of ground water pollution, or if not through these measures new problems will be created, i. e. be temporarily postponed. Moreover, in this Study, possible Operation and technical Improvement are presented.

  • There are two methods of quantifying the damages when the contract is avoided. One is 'concret' assessment, the other is 'abstract' assessment. The former looks to the actual cost incurred by the aggrieved party in concluding a contract for the substitute transaction, while the latter is based on the market price. The concrete method of assessment forms the starting point in the Civil Law systems. In the Common Law systems, it is likewise available. The aggrieved party is entitled to recover the difference between the cost of cover or (as the case may be) the proceeds of resale and the contract price. Both systems also recognize the abstract method of assessment. If the aggrieved party does not resell or cover, damages are equal to the difference between the price fixed by the contract and the market price. The CISG and the UNIDROIT Principles recognize expressly both concrete and abstract methods. Under the relevant articles, the aggrieved party can recover the damages assessed by one of the methods as well as any further damages such as loss of profit, incidental and consequential damages.

  • This study is on the fire resistance evaluation method, expecially on the toxicity of smoke gases generated from the fire, of materials for railway car and structures. Until now, Although international standard related to the quantifying evaluation method of smoke gas is provided but the specific procedure is not contained. On this reason, Test results of toxicity show deviation with the different technique being applied. For now, In advanced railway country, various instrument, like ion chromatography and etc., is used but FT-IR is recommended due to its lots of advantages. while FT-IR has a lot of strong points but still has some problems like water vapor interferences. In this paper, To improve credibility and repeatability of FT-IR it contains some technical solutions in quantifying the 8 toxic components.

Quantifying Quality: Research Performance Evaluation in Korean Universities

  • Research performance evaluation in Korean universities follows strict guidelines that specify scoring systems for publication venue categories and formulas for co-authorship credit allocation. To find out how the standards differ across universities and how they differ from bibliometric research evaluation measures, this study analyzed 25 standards from major Korean universities and rankings produced by applying standards and bibliometric measures such as publication and citation counts, normalized impact score, and h-index to the publication data of 195 tenure-track professors of library and information science departments in 35 Korean universities. The study also introduced a novel impact score normalization method to refine the methodology from prior studies. The results showed the university standards to be mostly similar to one another but quite different from citation-driven measures, which suggests the standards are not quite successful in quantifying the quality of research as originally intended.
