  • The international competition in car markets has continuously required the research about the sound quality of a car. The domestic carmakers have also invested a lot of money for the research and development of interior sound quality of passenger cars. Therefore, the aim of this research is to predict the customer's evaluation of a new vehicle. There are two major research works to achieve this goal in this research. The first one is to search questionnaires about the sound quality, which customers prefer, to identify the relationship between these questionnaires and sound metrics that is a psychoacoustics parameters, and to development sound indexes for the questionnaires. All tests for this work is proceed on the road test during acceleration. The second one is to balance the sound component (engine noise, booming noise, road noise and wind noise) of a passenger. This wok will be tested on the constant speed. All of research results will be contributed to the development of brand sound quality of a new passenger car.

  • Quality Models are important element of the software industry to develop and implement the best quality product in the market. This type of model provides aid in describing quality measures, which directly enhance the user satisfaction and software quality. In software development, the inheritance technique is an important mechanism used in object-oriented programming that allows the developers to define new classes having all the properties of super class. This technique supports the hierarchy design for classes and makes an "is-a" association among the super and subclasses. This paper describes a standard procedure for validating the inheritance metric in Quality Model for Object-Oriented Design (QMOOD) by using a set of nine properties established by Weyuker. These properties commonly using for investigating the effectiveness of the metric. The integration of two measuring methods (i.e. QMOOD and Weyuker) will provide new way for evaluating the software quality based on the inheritance context. The output of this research shows the extent of satisfaction of the inheritance metric in QMOOD against Weyuker nine properties. Further results proved that Weyker's property number nine could not fulfilled by any inheritance metrics. This research introduces a way for measuring software that developed using object-oriented approach. The theoretical validation of the inheritance metric presented in this paper is a small step taken towards producing quality software and in providing assistance to the software industry.

  • Nowadays, due to the rapidly increasing number of package software products, quality test has been emphasized for package software products. When testing software products, one of the most important factors is to select metrics which form the bases for tests. In this paper, the types of package software are represented as characteristic vectors having probabilistic relationships with metrics. The characteristic vectors could be regarded as indicators of software type. To assign the metrics for each software type, the past test metrics are collected and analyzed. Using Bayesian belief network, the dependency relationship network of the characteristic vectors and metrics is constructed. The dependency relationship network is then used to find the proper metrics for the test of new package software products.

  • For the effective development of high qualitative software, it is important to measure the "design quality" through the "process of design" which is the upper phase of software development. And based on it, to improve the "design quality" is also important. But, up to now, most of the researches have been in connection with the quality characteristics, and quality sub-characteristics that can be measured and evaluated by users, but the researches about the internal characteristics and metrics that can be measured and evaluated by developer in the process of the development have not been through going enough. Accordingly, the purpose of this research is to point out the problems included in the internal characteristics of the solution of these problems. Omissions and duplications of the internal characteristics can be prevented by arranging than newly according to the model suggestion. Furthermore, it is confirmed that developers can get the efficiency of measurement by metrics, and also can get good improvement effect of metrics measurement accuracy through the concrete application test.

  • Among the various elements affecting a customer's evaluation of automobile quality, buzz, squeak and rattle(BSR) have been considered to be major factors. In most vehicle manufacturers, the BSR problems are solved by find-fix method with the vehicle road test, mainly due to various excitation sources, complex generation mechanism and subjective response. To systematically tackle the BSR problems in early stage of the vehicle development cycle, these difficulties should be resolved. The aim of the present paper is to characterize the sound quality property of BSR noise that can be used to assess the subjective responses to BSR. The four sound metrics from Zwicker's sound quality parameter are computed for the signals recorded for eight BSR noise source regions localized by using the acoustic-field visualized results. Then, the jury test of BSR noise are performed. On the basis of the computed sound metrics and jury test result is evaluated to represent the harshness of BSR noise. It is expected that the developed BSR measuring system and sound quality properties can be used to reduce the automotive interior BSR noise in terms of subjective levels as well as objective levels.

  • Under the influence of software security-enhanced development guidelines announced in 2012, secure coding practices become widely applicable in developing information systems aiming to enhance security capabilities. Although continuous enhancement activities for code security is important, management issues for code security have been less addressed in the guidelines. This paper analyses limitation of secure coding practices from the viewpoint of quality management. In particular this paper suggests structures and the use of software metrics from coding to maintenance phases so that it can be of help in the future by extending the use of security metrics.

  • Impact noise is induced in a car when it is driven on a harsh road or over some bumps. This noise occurs with the very high level of sound, which affects passengers in some way or other. Although it is impossible to clearly remove such noise, it is necessary to research an improvement in sound quality for impact noise. A new sound metric for impact sound is presented. This metric is verified by comparison between mean subjective ratings and several sound metrics. In this paper, more objective attributes are considered, which the attributes are expressing the level and modulation of sound. Three sound metrics are employed to get impact sound indexes for each course by the method of multiple linear regressions. The indexes are verified by considering the correlation between the estimated values from the multiple linear regressions and the mean subjective ratings by evaluators. Also, the subjective ratings on the indexes are estimated for the case in which some parts of suspension system are changed. The estimated ratings represent more reasonable or acceptable ratings. Thus, such indexes can be used for modification of the parts of suspension system under considering a good sound quality.

  • To evaluate the biological integrity of aquatic ecosystems, we developed Korean multimetric diatom index (KMDI) using metrics that many researchers have been previously described, and compared to single-metric diatom index such as trophic diatom index (TDI) and diatom assemblage index to organic pollution (DAIpo). For the biological and environmental data, we investigated the epilithic diatoms, water quality and the land-use for 923 sites in Korean streams between 2013-2017, and estuaries between 2010-2017, respectively. Five appropriate metrics were selected according to the following steps; 1) extraction of 300 potential metrics (biological, chemical, physical, and geographical) based on previous references, of these, 2) 46 samples having high separation power were selected, 3) the selected metrics were each tested for variability, redundancy, and sensitivity to the environments, finally 4) construction of multi-metric diatom index comprising single type metrics such as TDI, DAIpo, % motile diatoms, % Achnanthes / (Achnanthes+Navicula), and % number of Gomphonema species. The biological integrity of the 233 sites from the Geum River basin were independently investigated using KMDI. Collectively, the new KMDI showed high sensitivity and explanatory power for environmental factors such as land-use, biochemical oxygen demand, total nitrogen, and electric conductivity. However, it had slightly higher biological integrity for the same sites as compared to single type diatom metrics. Finally, more data accumulation from all over Korea and the development of acceptable diatom metrics were required.

  • In this paper, we tried to find out sound quality metrics to express discomfort of overload excavator noise and to develop sound quality indexes through multiple regression analysis by using them. For this purpose, the interior noise of cabin under overload condition was recorded for six excavator models with different noise properties and Jury test was carried out by PCM (Paired Comparison Method) and MEM (Magnitude Estimation Method). Jury test result with low consistency was classified into two groups with different preference tendencies by cluster analysis and multiple regression analysis was conducted in order to find out which sound quality metrics have significant effects on discomfort(low preference). As a result, we figured out that the sound quality metrics to express the discomfort were the partial loudness (= $PN_{10Bark}$) between 0 and 10 Bark in case of group1 and the difference between engine noise(= $dB_{EG}$) and hydraulic system noise ($dB_1$) in case of group2. Using the results of preference ranking and tendency analysis of PCM followed by the correlation analysis between PCM and MEM, the more reliable results were adopted by excluding the data with low consistency obtained from Jury test via MEM.

  • Object oriented design brought up improvement of productivity and software quality by adopting some concepts such as inheritance and encapsulation. However, both the number of software's classes and object couplings are increasing as the software volume is becoming larger. The object coupling between classes is closely related with software complexity, and high complexity causes decreasing software quality. In order to solve the object coupling issue, IT-field researchers adopt a component based development and software quality metrics. The component based development requires explicit representation of dependencies between classes and the software quality metrics evaluates quality of software. As part of the research, we intend to gain a basic data that will be used on decomposing software. We focused on properties of the linkage between classes rather than previous studies evaluated and accumulated the qualities of individual classes. Our method exploits machine learning technique to analyze the properties of linkage and predict the strength of dependency between classes, as a new perspective on analyzing software property.
