Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR) is an active microwave instrument that performs high-resolution observation under almost all weather conditions. Although there are many advantages of SAR instrument, many complicated steps are involved in order to generate SAR image products. Many research and algorithms have been proposed to process radar signal and to increase the quality of SAR products. However, it is hard to find research which compare the quality of SAR products generated with different algorithms and processing methods. In our previous research, a SAR processing s/w was developed for a ground station. In addition, quality assessment procedures and their test parameters inside a SAR processor was proposed. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the quality of SAR images generated from the developed SAR processing s/w. However, If there are no direct measurements such as radar reflector or scattering field measurement values it is difficult to compare SAR images generated with different methods. An alternative procedures and parameters for SAR image quality evaluation are presented and the problems involved in the comparison methods are discussed. Experiments based on real data have been conducted to evaluate and analyze quality of SAR images.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the influence of physical activity and depression on sleep quality among the young-old and old-old community-dwelling elderly. Methods: Participants were 216 community-dwelling older adults in Korea aged 65 or above. Data were collected using structured questionnaires with face-to-face interviews that included demographic and health-related characteristics, International Physical Activity Questionnaires (IPAQ), the Short Form Geriatric Depression Scale (SGDS) and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). A hierarchical multiple regression was conducted to examine whether physical activity and depression would predict sleep quality under other controlled factors. Results: There were differences in demographic and health-related characteristics, physical activity, and depression by age groups, but not in sleep quality. In the young-old elderly, physical activity (${\beta}=-0.22$, p=.043) and depression (${\beta}=0.31$, p=.002) were significantly associated with sleep quality (F=4.46, p=.001, Adjusted $R^2=.16$). In the old-old elderly, physical activity (${\beta}=-0.29$, p=.001) and depression (${\beta}=0.41$, p<.001) were significantly associated with sleep quality (F=10.79, p<.001, Adjusted $R^2=.29$). Conclusion: These finding highlight physical activity and depression as important contributors to sleep quality in both young-old and old-old elderly.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to find out the quality of life and to identify the related characteristics for nursing care in pneumconiosis elderly patients. Methods: The subjects for this study were 206 elderly patients who received pneumoconiosis treatment in the two pneumoconiosis specialized hospitals located in Gangwondo, Korea. The instrument used for this study was Quality of Life Index Pulmonary version III. The data was collected from February 17 to March 10, 2003, and analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Duncan test using SPSS. Results: The results of this study were as follows : 1. The highest frequency in chief complaints was dyspnea, 91 subjects(44.2%), and complications was tuberculosis, 88 subjects (42.7%). 2. The total mean score of the level of quality of life was $14.49{\pm}2.18$. 3. The score of quality of life showed higher in good family relationship group than the other after diagnosed pneumoconisis(F=5.486, P=0.001). 4. The comparison of quality of life was significant according to oxygen use(t=2.674, P=0.008), bronchodilators use(t=2.678, P=0.008), and prospect of future health status concerning pneumoconiosis(F=2.960, P=0.021). Conclusions: In conclusion, adequate nursing intervention as effective management of respiratory symptoms and improvement of family support will be needed to improve the quality of life in pneumoconiosis elderly patients.
The purpose of this study is to find out the difference of evaluation of product and service quality according to consumers' attitude toward price in internet clothing purchase. This study surveyed 400 male and female consumers in their 20s-30s for empirical analysis in August 2010 who have ever purchased clothing through internet shopping malls. For statistical analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, ANOVA analysis, Duncan test and cluster analysis are carried out using SPSS for Windows 12.0. The results are as follows. First, consumers' attitude toward price dimensions in internet clothing purchase are found 6 factors of sales proneness, price-prestige, price-comparison, low price, utility value and pricequality. Second, based on the attitude toward price dimensions, consumers are categorized into utility value seeking, sales price seeking, multi-dimension price seeking, lack price consciousness, low price seeking group. Third, there are significant differences in product quality and service quality depending on attitude toward price-based consumer types. In particular, sales price seeking and multi-dimension price seeking groups have higher values on product and service quality than other groups. The results of this study will help internet fashion mall businesses to develop price strategy and manage product and service quality.
Purpose: Express mail service(EMS) supplied by 'Korea POST'is an international postal service which brings letters, documents and parcels to a destination abroad in the fastest and safest way. This service is in a tough competition with global companies such as TNT, FedEx, DHL or UPS. To build an effective strategy for being competitive, an intensive study on EMS service quality should be accomplished from a customer's perspective. Methods: Kano model and improvement gap analysis are used to categorize and prioritize EMS service quality attributes. A 5-point Lickert scale is employed to apply the Kano model and improvement gap analysis. Each quality attribute can be classified as weak in comparison with competitors, critical for improvement, or potentially competitive. Results: Price, on-time delivery and delivery quality are to be kept as is; fast delivery, parking convenience and staff expertise can be potentially competitive; and the other attributes are considered to be critical for improvement. Conclusions: Fast reimbursement and proper compensation when shipping items are lost or damaged are to be improved with high priority. Efforts to secure fast delivery, parking convenience and staff expertise are needed to be competitive in the future.
According to the total pollution load management system, exact prediction and analysis of water quality and discharge has been required in order to allocate the amount of pollution load to each local government. In this study, QUAL2E model was used for comparison with other water quality models and improve the inadequate to forecast future water quality. And Various calibration and verification methods were applied to deal with existing uncertainties of parameter during modeling water quality. For user convenience, A GUI(Graphical User Interface) system named "QL2-XP" model is developed by object-oriented language for the user convenience and practical usage. Suggested GUI system consist of hydraulic analysis, water quality analysis, optimized model calibration processes, and postprocessing the simulation results. Therefore this model will be effectively utilized to manage practical and efficient water quality.
Highly competitive environment has been forcing e-commerce industries to seek strategies to achieve competitive advantages. A bilateral comparison was conducted between the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS) to measure the absorbed dose to water in accelerator photon beams. KRISS served as a linking laboratory to compare the IAEA standard with the key comparison reference value (KCRV) of the BIPM.RI(I)-K6 program, in which KRISS participated in 2017. Two ionization chambers from the IAEA were used as transfer instruments for the comparison. Both laboratories measured the calibration coefficients of these instruments and calculated the ratios. The ratio of the KRISS standard to the KCRV was applied to obtain the degree of equivalence of the IAEA, along with its uncertainty. The largest deviation of the IAEA measurement from the KCRV was 3.4 mGy/Gy, significantly smaller than the expanded uncertainty of 10.7 mGy/Gy (k = 2, 95% level of confidence). This study demonstrates the equivalence of IAEA's measurement standard for accelerator photon beams to other primary standard dosimetry laboratories. It provides evidence for the satisfactory operation of IAEA's quality management system and enhances the international credibility of the IAEA SSDL network, particularly in high-energy accelerator photon beams from linear accelerators.
Quality measures play an important role in the field of image processing. Such measures are commonly used to assess the performance of different algorithms that are designed to perform a specific image processing task. In this paper we propose two novel measures for image quality assessment based on the notion of correlation between fuzzy sets. Two different definitions fur the correlation between fuzzy sets have been used. In order to calculate the proposed quality measures two approaches were evaluated, one with direct application of the measures to the image′s pixels and the other using the fuzzy set corresponding to the normalized histogram of the image. A comparative study of the proposed measures is performed by investigating their behavior using images with different types of distortions, such as impulsive "salt at pepper" noise, additive white Gaussian noise, multiplicative speckle noise, blurring, gamma distortion, and JPEG compression.
While e-learners' satisfaction would be determined by qualify of e-learning environment including learning management systems, learning contents and interactions, the influence of quality on satisfaction can be changed by e-learners' self-regulated efficacy The objective of this study is to show difference of the relationship between qualify and satisfaction In e-learning by self-regulated efficacy. For this purpose, we propose a research model which consists of five quality factors in e-learning as explaining variables, satisfaction as a result variable and self-regulated efficacy as a control variable. For empirical test of this model, the sample is collected from e-learning classes in a college and divided into two groups by self-regulated efficacy in order to analyze the effects of control variable. By multi-group analysis, we show two groups are different from each other in the relationship between quality and satisfaction of e-learning environment.
