  • This study purports to investigate the determinants of patient satisfaction and intent to revisit at national university hospitals in Korea. A total of 8 independent variables for outpatients, 9 independent variables for inpatients, and an intervening variable of overall patient satisfaction were selected through literature review. The independent variables for outpatients contain the level of satisfaction with physicians, nurses, ancillary staff, administrative procedure, medical cost, physical environment, facility convenience. and health recovery. With regard to the independent variables for inpatients, the quality of ward services was added to those of outpatients. Each variable contains 3 to 8 items measuring the level of satisfaction with various aspects of the variable. The sample used in this study consisted of 879 outpatients and 821 inpatients. Data were collected with interview survey and analyzed using path analysis. The major findings of the study are as follows: 1) The following variables have significantly positive effect on the intent to revisit of outpatients: health recovery, overall satisfaction, satisfaction with physicians, and ancillary staff. 2) The following variables have significantly positive effect on the intent to revisit of inpatients: health recovery, satisfaction with nurses and physicians, overall satisfaction, and administrative procedure. 3) The following variables of admission procedure, satisfaction with ancillary staff, facility convenience, quality of ward services were found to have significantly positive effect only on the level of overall satisfaction, even though they do not have significant total effect on the intent to revisit. The results of the study indicate that national university hospitals in Korea should make an effort to improve the satisfactory level of patients with clinical outcome, services provided by physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff, and the quality of administrative procedure for enhancing the intent to revisit of patients.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to evaluate the Quality of Life with a sample set collected from 37F residents in Seoul Metropolitan's countryside. Collected data were analyzed by means of regression analysis. Research results indicated that the predictors of Quality of Life had a relationship with'job satisfaction','self satisfaction','residential satisfaction','income satisfaction'and other variables(Ra= .48). The residents who strongly satisfied with those variables were likely to satisfy with their life. Also, the existence of toyon office and the educational level emerged as a significant factors for the life satisfaction. This means that the residents located at toyon office or educated higher level satisfied more on their life. Thus the personal characteristics and environmental attributes played a basic role on the life satisfaction. Implications for future research are discussed, and methodological and analytical weaknesses of this study are identified.

  • The purpose of this research project is to assess students' stress during clinical rotations and to suggest strategies for enhancing professional skills as well as the quality of clinical rotations among the students of dental technology. The participants included 200 sophomores and juniors from dental laboratory college located in Daegu and Jeju. Data was collected December 7, 2007, and March 7, 2008, by survey samplings. A total of 185 completed surveys were obtained and analyzed for this study. Findings from the study are summarized below. When age and stress were compared, it was found that younger students had higher levels of stress related to their environment, role, and activities. Regarding grade level and stress, students in lower levels were slightly (p<.01) more likely to have stress (Sophomore =2.91, junior =2.49). When the stress level was compared with students' satisfaction with their major, the less students were satisfied, the higher their level of stress was. The study found a slight (p<.05) difference between groups [satisfaction group (M=2.44), group in between satisfaction and dissatisfaction (M=2.58), and dissatisfaction (M=2.82)) in the relationship between satisfaction with the major and overall stress. Again, it appears that stress levels increase as satisfaction with the chosen major decreases. Third, the intensity of stress was affected by the environment in which students practiced, classmate relationships, roles, goals and values, and activities, and areas of performance. It showed that the groups unsatisfied and in-between with the quality of practice have more intensified stress than the group with satisfaction. The study showed a slight (p<.01) difference amongst groups [(satisfaction group (M=2.17), group in between satisfaction and dissatisfaction (M=2.68), and dissatisfaction (M=2.96)) in the relationship between satisfaction with the quality of the clinical rotation and overall stress. It appeared that higher levels of stress were seen with lower satisfaction with the major. Overall, students' level of stress was correlated with age and grade level, level of satisfaction in the major and the quality of the clinical rotation. Furthermore, schools need to focus on improving the environment where students practice, classmate relationships, roles, goals and values, and activities, and areas of performance. Dental laboratory colleges should concentrate on the basic case with the quality of clinical rotation and the chosen major. More skillful teaching and properly assigned clinical rotations and classes, along with a strong practical knowledge base applicable to clinical rotations will be needed in order to address these sources of dissatisfaction.

  • Decision making for gas boiler consumers depends on the characteristics of products such as the price and quality as well as the brand image. Although a gas boiler is a high involvement product in terms of price, in fact, it is a low involvement product which is greatly affected by installers. This study examined variables which affect the level of satisfaction and repurchase intention by surveying about 1,000 housewives through an on-line questionnaire. The results were as follows: first, gas boiler users' general knowledge of gas boilers showed a correct-answer rate of 54.5%. The average satisfaction score of product quality (mean=5.61 out of 7) was higher than that of the satisfactionscore of the company's service (mean=5.46). Second, the level of repurchase intention was above the mid-point (mean=4.72). Multivariate regression found that product satisfaction, service satisfaction, household size, and information sources explained repurchase intentions for gas boilers to be about 50.7%. Gas boiler marketers should pay attention to the survey result in that the level of repurchase intention depends mainly on both consumer satisfaction and information sources.
