  • The rapid development of communication equipment and information processing technology has led to a constant improvement in cordless communication. Lithium ion batteries used in cellular phones and laptop computers, in particular, have been in the forefront of the above revolution. These batteries use high value added raw materials and have a high and stable energy output and are increasingly coming into common use. The development of the material for the negative terminal has led to an improvement in the quality and efficiency of the batteries, whereas a reduction in the cost of the battery by researching new materials for the positive anode has become a research theme by itself. These long life batteries, it is being increasingly realized, can have value added to them by recycling. Research is increasingly being done on recycling the aluminum case and the load casing for the negative diode. • Magnetic inductive probe was designed and assembled for sensing the residual stress developed in the ferromagnetic thin sheet. The residual stress measurement system with this probe could resolve the residual stresses developed in the sheet in terms of principal stress orientation, and magnitude of the principal stress. It was consumed that the obtained probe output voltage from the qualified ferromagnetic Fe-42Ni lead frame sheet and quality-rejected sheet is effectively determined using the developed device. The lead frame sheet which has accumulated a high level of residual stress always showed a distinctive stress distribution and magnitude compared with those of qualified lead frame sheet. Those differences were well resolved as functions of input current or used frequency.

  • when electric traction system used DC 1500V runs on decline of rail road track and slows down, Dc voltage goes beyond regular voltage. In this case extra power is forcibly wasted by resister because rectifier of substation and electric train including power converter and so on are out of order. This paper described a DC electric railway system, which can generate the excessive DC power form DC bus line to AC source in substation for traction system. The proposed regeneration inverter system for DC traction can be used as both an inverter and an active power filter(APF). As a regeneration inverter mode, it can recycle regenerative energy caused by decelerating tractions and as an active power filter mode, it can compensate for harmonic distortion produced by the rectifier substation. In addition, electric traction system products harmonic current and voltage distortion and reactive power because power converter is used so regeneration inverter normally runs such as active power filter(APF) for improving power quality. From the viewpoint of both power capacity and switching losses, the system is designed on the basis of three phase PWM inverters and composed of parallel inverters, output transformers, and an LCL filter.

  • Rail human factors research has grown rapidly in both quantity and quality of output over the past few years. Human factors, also, still plays a significant part in many railway accidents. In this paper we review categorized performance shaping factors of human errors associated with railway accidents within and out of the country. This paper deals with the selection of the important performance shaping factors under accident management situations in railway for use in the assessment of human errors. The purpose of this study is to classify which human error would be selected for accident analysis. Therefore, the classification of human errors suggested in this study may be useful to enhance the Korean railway system safety.

  • This study provides an overview of the accreditation landscape in Korea, and identifies some problems in the current accrediting review program which assesses the library's achievements These are as follows: (1) The weight given to the library sector is insufficient. (2) There are no indicators to appraise the achiement of the informational and educational functions of academic libraries (3) It is completely devoted to input indicators, but not process or output indicators (4) It is impossible to evaluate the quality os library services. (5) The units of statistics are not standardised. Some alternative measures and indicators are proposed to evaluate the performances of academic libraries' services. It is suggested that an official draft should be prepared by Korean academic librarians to amend the library sector of current accrediting review program.

  • Micro gas turbine(MGT) has received attention recently as small-scale distributed power sources. With characteristics such as their small size, lightweight, low maintenance cost and minimal vibrations during operation, they are expected to become widespread in a wide range of ' applications, including residential and small-scale industrial use. It is very easier to start-up and stop the MGT system which is the friendly environmental power system has just below the 9ppm NOx emmission and good quality of noise level. The exhaust heat emitted by the MGT is in the form of about $300^{\circ}C$ clean exhaust gas. The exhaust gas is suitable for absorption chiller/heater system. 1 has researched performance characteristics of the 60 kW class MGT-absorption chiller-heater system in the local condition. Variations of heat recovery from exhaust gas has measured according to micro gas turbine output of 15, 30, 45, 60kW. From those results, the performance of the MGT-absorption chiller/heater system has been evaluated.

  • As photovoltaic(PV) power generation systems become more common, it will be necessary to investigate islanding detection method for PV systems. Islanding of PV systems can cause a variety of problems and must be prevented. However, if the real and reactive powers of the load and PV system are closely matched, islanding detection by passive methods becomes difficult. Also, most active methods lose effectiveness when there are several PV systems feeding the same island. The active frequency drift positive feedback method(AFDPF) enables islanding detection by forcing the frequency of the voltage in the island to drift up or down. In this paper the research for the minimum value of chopping fraction gain applied digital phase-locked-loop (DPLL) to AFDPF considering output power quality and islanding prevention performance are performed by simulation and experiment according to IEEE Std 929-2000 islanding test.

  • In this paper, we propose a method using cooperative spectrum sensing to avoid multipath and frequency selective fading. One of methods in conventional scheme was multi input multi output (MIMO) solution. However, in the wireless environment, mobile device hardly supports multi antenna because of limitation of hardware. Motivated from above problems, the proposed method provides the information of excellent channel to transmitter. As a result, quality of service (QoS) required by users can be satisfied. Finally, performance of the proposed protocol is analyzed in term of bit error rate (BER).

  • Recently, in accordance with the commercialization of novel radio frequency utilization technologies, the radiated power must be rigorously limited for the purpose of protection of wireless facilities against frequency jamming or interference and for maintaining the quality of communication service. At present, the output power is measured from the conducted power for the domestic measurement criterion but is not a real radiated power and inaccurate. So, it is peformed to survey the more precisely accurate measurement scheme and analyze its criterion and methodology in comparison with foreign one. As a result of surveying and analyzing, it is concluded that the U.S. and E.U. is actually using the measurement method in consideration of terms of the Equivalent Isotropic Radiated Power(EIRP) and Effective Radiated power(ERP). In case of the frequency below 1 GHz, the half wave-length dipole antenna is used to measure the ERP and above 1 GHz the horn antenna as a reference antenna is used to measure the EIRP. Therefore, for the domestic purpose it is also necessary to take EIRP and ERP into consideration as a measurement criterion in order to make an accurate measurement and regulation.

  • Health care organizations have been faced with financial difficulties under turbulent health care environment. This situation led hospitals to concentrate their efforts to improve their managerial efficiency in various ways. This study aims to evaluate technical efficiency of 31 tertiary hospitals in Korea and find determinants which are closely related with hospital efficiency. Data envelopment analysis(DEA) and Tobit Model were adopted for study. For the analysis, human resource factors such as number of physicians, nurses, and administrative staffs are used as input variables and the number of inpatients and outpatients) are used as output variables. Among 31 hospitals, in CCR model, 8 hositals showed efficiency score 1 which means they have been operated in very efficient ways and BCC model showed 13 of 31 hospitals as efficient organizations. Next, we analyzed determinants which are closely related with hospital efficiency. By using Tobit model, the study showed hospital size, Quality of care, value added per capita, and revenue per patient were closely related with hospital efficiency, However, it appeared that financial status of hospitals(i.e : making profit or not) was not related with hospital efficiency.
