Present maintenance of a high speed railway is after the fack maintenance that executes a task when measured value goes over threshold value except some planned maintenance. It is difficult from efficient management of maintenance human resource and equipment commitment because it is difficult to predict quantity of maintenance targets. Corrective maintenance is pushed back on the repair priority of other target to need repair and it is exceeded repair cost potentially. For safety and dependable track management because track deterioration prediction is linked directly with track's life and safety of train service, it is very important that track management be based on preventive maintenance. In this study, we propose statistics model of track quality to use track inspection data and forecast model for track deterioration prediction.
For the continued airworthiness of aviation products, aviation authority requires that every manufacturer should provide ICA(Instruction of Continued Airworthiness) to their users, and the users should follow it by themselves or using another approved maintenance agent. To reduce the cost and improve performance quality of maintenance activities, lots of users tries to outsource this job. To perform maintenance or repair of other owned air products, an air carrier and aviation maintenance companies should obtain AMO(approval of maintenance organization). It means AMO is a postulation to enter MRO(Maintenance Repair and Overhaul) market. For that, this paper discusses the comparison of requirements and procedures of AMO system between Korea and US to help understand the AMO system, and then, tries to point out what improvement should be made to Korean AMO system to be more effective, efficient and safe.
We researched the fauna restoration of 5 urban streams in Ulsan established as ecological streams by improving water quality and river environment. The fauna inhabitation were compared according to the conditions of geometrical feature such as river width, low-water channel width, ect and water quality, water volumn, inland and forceland. The Mugeo cheon has clearly shown the fauna restoration effects resulting from supplying sustainable maintenance water and wastewater treatments. In the Yaksa cheon, on the other hand, the restoration effects were low due to the inflow of wastewater and sledges in some part of stream ever though the improvement of water quality. The Yeocheon cheon was found to have disadvantage on the ecological inhabitations due to supplying the maintenance water with highly concentrated salinity. The fauna restoration effect of the Meongjeong cheon was low due to the inflow of wastewater to the down stream. Therefore by supplying the maintenance water and improving the connection to the Taehwa river at the estuary, better restoration effects could be observed. In the Cheokgwa cheon, which is almost a natural river, the ecological integrity of the fauna population has been maintained quite well. It was concluded that the project to transform urban streams into ecological streams should focus on not only keeping water volume and quality but also maintaining favorable conditions for the migration and settlement of animal species close to the natural state.
Urban transit system must secure fast, safe and reliable transportation capacity as a metropolitan mass transit. For this purpose, it is important to make all the sub-systems (which consist of EMU, power feeding, signaling & telecommunication, railway, platform facility, and control system and so on) work well. To operate all the systems effectively and reliably, a maintenance measure optimal to each system's characteristics is needed to be established and executed. So, highly reliable maintenance should be performed. But, EMU maintenance methods suitable to its own model and EMU lines are not yet introduced. This study examined few examples mainly to secure reliability on a maintenance quality in operating method and the features of train maintenance system based on travel distance.
Connected-(r,s)-out of-(m,n) : F system is an important topic in redundancy design of the complex system reliability and it's maintenance policy. Previous studies applied Monte Carlo simulation and genetic, simulated annealing algorithms to tackle the difficulty of maintenance policy problem. These algorithms suggested most suitable maintenance cycle to optimize maintenance pattern of connected-(r,s)-out of-(m,n) : F system. However, genetic algorithm is required long execution time relatively and simulated annealing has improved computational time but rather poor solutions. In this paper, we propose the ant colony optimization approach for connected-(r,s)-out of-(m,n) : F system that determines maintenance cycle and minimum unit cost. Computational results prove that ant colony optimization algorithm is superior to genetic algorithm, simulated annealing and tabu search in both execution time and quality of solution.
A systemic building maintenance management is necessary to supply an convenience and safety environment by maintain the origin features for a building's life. However, the exist maintenance management system has some problems such as interoperability of information or standardization of data. In those reasons, a critical information for maintenance a building may be lost and changed. In addition, the data could be crashed or lost on a process of re-input or re-produce. This paper purpose the interoperability in exchanging data between design/construction and operation phases. In addition, this model will enhance the efficiency of building maintenance tasks through information quality improvement and data reproduction prevention.
Recently, government office buildings have become important in reducing maintenance costs. However, the loss of information raised a problem for maintenance work that could not meet the needs of users. Therefore, this study proposed a BIM-based integrated maintenance system for public offices in Jeju to efficiently maintenance work. The system can be integrated with IoT sensors, big data and artificial intelligence technologies to integrate information that occurs throughout the building's entire life cycle to exchange information. This system is also scalable to buildings, plants, region and urban infrastructure facilities as well as single buildings. It is expected that the system will provide reliable, high-quality, real-time information for efficient maintenance work, thereby supporting decision making and appropriate budget planning.
The study involved the measurement of flowrate and BOD in the Yeoju area and analyzed annual sewerage data by the I/I analysis technique which is common in Korea. The results of this study are as follows. The I/I for the Y-1 site before maintenance and after the completion of the whole process was reduced from 62% to 16.1% respectively with respect to maximum sewage flow per day. The average quality of water increased. The study measured the Y-2 site from a point of time corresponding to an 80% process rate and its I/I rate went up a little from 8.5% to 11.5%. At the Y-3 site, the I/I rate went up a little from 11% to 13.8%, while little change was noted in the average water quality. At the Y-4 site, the I/I rate was reduced from 43% to 16.9% and its average water quality went up. At the Y-5 site, the I/I quantity went up a little however its average water quality also went up largely. Therefore, it was concluded that the Y-5 site showed great improvement due to the sewer pipe maintenance.
Proper maintenance of biological components is crucial for longevity and healthy aging. Although the role of homeostatic maintenance systems for DNA and protein in longevity is established, it remains largely unknown for RNA. In our recent work, we show that nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD) promotes longevity in the roundworm C. elegans by enhancing RNA quality control. We find that the activity of NMD decreases during aging, raising the possibility that RNA quality declines in old animals. We then show that key components of NMD complex are required for prolonged lifespan in C. elegans. In addition, animals with reduced insulin/insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) signaling (IIS), a representative longevity model, display increased NMD activity. Thus, up-regulation of NMD appears to play crucial roles in longevity conferred by reduced IIS via enhancing mRNA quality control. As both IIS and NMD pathways are evolutionarily conserved, mammals including humans may be equipped with similar RNA quality control systems to achieve longevity.
