  • In this paper we propose a QoS policy, which is based on both DSCP and SPQ, appropriate to TPS users on optical subscriber network. Then we experiment and evaluate QoS policy through the test bed which emulates real optical subscriber network. In order to perform effective and real experiment on test bed we make test traffic equivalent to 400 TPS users and give it to test bed. The experimental result shows that no packet loss in real time service traffic such as voice, IPTV occurs during more than 4 hours. We think that our proposed QoS policy is a proper method which guarantees the service quality of real time services on optical subscriber network.

  • In this paper, we address how to provide absolute differentiated services for optical burst switching (OBS) networks based on dynamic wavelength assignment. Unlike existing quality of service (QoS), such as buffer-based and offset-time based scheme, our proposed dynamicvirtual lambda partitioning (DVLP) scheme does not mandate any buffer or extra offset time, but can achieve absolute service differentiation between classes. This new DVLP scheme shares wavelength resources based on several different priority of classes in an efficient and QoS guaranteed manner. The performance results show that the proposed scheme effectively guarantees a target blocking probability of each traffic classes both in Poisson and Self-similar traffic environment.

  • In this paper, an efficient Adaptive quality-of-service (QoS) traffic control scheme with priority scheduling is proposed for the multimedia traffic transmission over wireless access networks. The objective of the proposed adaptive QoS control (AQC) scheme is to realize end-to-end QoS, to be scalable without the excess signaling process, and to adapt dynamically to the network traffic state according to traffic flow characteristics. Here, the reservation scheme can be used over the wireless access network in order to get the per-flow guarantees necessary for implementation of some kinds of multimedia applications. The AQC model is based on both differentiated service model with different lier hop behaviors and priority scheduling one. It consists of several various routers, access points, and bandwidth broker and adopts the IEEE 802.1 le wireless radio technique for wireless access interface. The AQC scheme includes queue management and packet scheduler to transmit class-based packets with different per hop behaviors (PHBs). Simulation results demonstrate effectiveness of the proposed AQC scheme.

  • For the fast target base station channel decision in WiMAX networks, fast group scanning scheme was suggested, in which mobile stations in proximity of each other form a group and scan the candidate channels dispersively. However, the previous group scanning scheme does not consider the different QoS requirements of each MS in a group. In this paper we propose the enhanced group scanning scheme, so-called QoS-aware group scan scheduling scheme, that makes mobile stations in a group scan the candidate channels without deteriorating the QoS requirements. We introduce the QoS-aware channel scanning concept of a individual mobile station and show the different scanning latencies due to the different QoS requirements. With the help of the efficient channel allocation by the serving BS, in the proposed scanning scheme, a mobile station with relatively higher QoS in a group scans less amount of candidate channels than the others with relatively lower QoS, while the mobile stations in a group still guarantees the fast target base station decision. The performance results show that our proposed scanning scheme results in the fast target base station decision while considering the QoS requirements of each MS.

  • In this paper, a novel schedulability criteria is developed to provide handover calls with Quality of Service (QoS) guarantees in terms of both minimum available bandwidth, maximum tolerated packet delay, and other additive QoS constraints as required by the real-time mobile traffic. This requires prediction of the handover time using mobility trends on the mobile station, which is used as input to this work. After the handover time and the QoS are negotiated, the destination base station makes attempts to give priority to handover calls over new calls, and pre-reserves resources that will have more chance of being available during the actual handover.

  • In the heterogeneous system of various wired or wireless network with IP-based backbone, the continuities of agreedon QoS for multimedia services should be guaranteed regardless of network types and terminal mobility through seamless vertical handover. This paper proposes a QoS provisioning mechanism called D-ISHO which guarantees the continuities of agreed-on QoS and seamless for multimedia services by considering both such characteristics as delay, loss rate and jitter per each service and such status as available band-width, call arrival rate and data transmission rate during the vertical handover. Simulation is done for performance analysis with the measure of handover failure rate and packet loss rate.

  • Ethernet passive optical network (EPON) has drawn many attention as a promising access network technology because it can provide a high bandwidth with a low cost. Since the uplink in the EPON system is shared by many users, it is necessary for an EPON system to have an efficient bandwidth allocation mechanism. In addition, as the users demand more QoS-oriented applications, it is necessary for an EPON system to have an efficient mechanism supporting QoS. In this paper, we propose a variable window dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA) algorithm for the EPON system. Unlike the previously proposed DBA algorithms, the variable window algorithm guarantees the QoS for the highest priority class, and at the same time provides more enhanced QoS for the lower priority classes by dynamically allocating bandwidth if necessary. It is verified through the simulations that the variable window algorithm can provide more enhanced QoS performance than other DBA algorithms.

  • In the wireless mobile networks, it IS important to provide the quality-of-service (QoS) guarantees as they are increasingly expected to support the multimedia applications Although the QoS provisioning problem arises in the wire-line networks as well, the mobility of hosts and the scarcity of bandwidth make QoS provisioning a challenging task in wireless mobile networks. The resource allocation to multimedia applications of varying QoS reqUlrement 15 a complex issue. In this paper, we propose a new adaptive resource allocation scheme based on the concept of the resource reservation and the renegotiation in order to guarantee the QoS of the real-tune traffic. The proposed scheme is aimed at improving the perfonnance in terms of the new call blocking rate, the bandoff dropping rate, and the bandwIdth utilization.

  • MANET(Mobile Ad-hoc NETwork), a network characterized that its moving nodes freely constructs Network topology, has other different characteristics. Because Policy based Network Management in MANET guarantees QoS between nodes, it is essential in applied areas like VANET which targets safety and convenience. In this paper, we use COPS-PR which is appropriate Policy Exchange Protocol for MANET, and implement DiffServ-based QoS in the real networks and experiment its capability.

  • Ad-hoc network is a multi-hop wireless network formed by a collection of mobile nodes without the aid of any establish infrastructure and this network can provide an extremely flexible method for establishing communications for fire, safety, rescue operations, battle field or other fields requiring rapidly deployable communications with survivable, efficient dynamic networking. Recently new expended mechanism is proposed as Ad-hoc relay system, so guarantee of QoS for multimedia applications is needed more and more. In this paper, we propose ARM based QoS Distribution Monitoring Mechanism to provide Quality of Service guarantees to multimedia application with MANET.
