Supporting Quality of Service (QoS) for multimedia services in heterogeneous mobile networks is a part of key issue for Beyond Three Generation (B3G) development. In particular, if QoS degradation are occurred because cell overload and error late patterns of wireless links during the transmission of multimedia data, the efficient QoS management is necessary to maintain the same QoS of transmitted multimedia data because the QoS may be defected by some delay and information loss. This paper deals with QoS Degradation reason Intra-System Handover (D-ISHO) for handling QoS of multimedia services over heterogeneous mobile networks. For this aim, the function modules for supporting QoS of D-ISHO are proposed. The sequence diagram showing interaction between the modules is described and then a scenario for D-ISHO is considered. Simulation is focused on the average delay and packet loss rate. The proposed heterogeneous mobile system using the QoS-Guaranteed Resource Management (QGRM) provides a better performance than each different access system.
This paper proposes a QoS/QoE guaranteeing scheme by reassembling packets that have already been delivered to the end systems under the condition that there is no other way to fulfill user's QoS/QoE with the current network conditions. The proposed scheme is a QoS/QoE provisioning scheme that can be applied when IPTV streaming packets have not been consecutively received by the receiver. The receiving end system modifies the continuous counter field in the MPEG-2 Transport Stream and reassembles packets based on this information. In the simulation, broadcasting streaming environment has been implemented in order to verity the QoS/QoE performance of the proposed scheme under the good and poor network conditions.
QoS routing can improve network performance while providing support for QoS guarantees. These benefits, however, comes with additional routing costs such as more complex and frequent route computation and the protocol overheads to exchange dynamic network state information. Moreover, little has been done to mininize the impact of the QoS traffic to the best effort traffic or to enhance the routine Performance of the best effort traffic when QoS routing is deployed. In this paper, it is proposed that a sewer based routing mechanism, which supports the QoS routing without incurring the QoS routing protocol overhead for the network state update exchanges and enhances the performance of the best effort traffic without affecting the performance of QoS routing. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme enhances the routing performance for the QoS traffic while reducing the routing protocol overhead. The routing performance of the best traffic is also improved with virtually no impact to the routine performance of the QoS traffic. The proposed scheme is shown to be especially effective when the ratio of QoS traffic is high, that is, when the impact of the QoS traffic to the performance of best effort traffic is significant.
In this paper, we propose a QoS routing protocol for WiMAX based wireless mesh networks. The proposed routing protocol is a proactive hop-by-hop QoS routing protocol. It can find an optimal route that satisfies QoS requirements using bandwidth and delay as QoS parameters. In this paper, we first present a network model for WIMAX based wireless mesh networks and explain why QoS routing protocol is the most appropriate for WiMAX based wireless mesh networks. Then, we propose a proactive hop-by-hop QoS routing protocol that meets QoS requirements of traffic flowing between mesh client and the gateway. The simulation results show that the proposed routing protocol outperforms QOLSR protocol in terms of end-to-end delay, packet delivery ratio and routing overhead.

For the fast target base station channel decision in WiMAX networks, fast group scanning scheme was suggested, in which mobile stations in proximity of each other form a group and scan the candidate channels dispersively. However, the previous group scanning scheme does not consider the different QoS requirements of each MS in a group. In this paper we propose the enhanced group scanning scheme, so-called QoS-aware group scan scheduling scheme, that makes mobile stations in a group scan the candidate channels without deteriorating the QoS requirements. We introduce the QoS-aware channel scanning concept of a individual mobile station and show the different scanning latencies due to the different QoS requirements. With the help of the efficient channel allocation by the serving BS, in the proposed scanning scheme, a mobile station with relatively higher QoS in a group scans less amount of candidate channels than the others with relatively lower QoS, while the mobile stations in a group still guarantees the fast target base station decision. The performance results show that our proposed scanning scheme results in the fast target base station decision while considering the QoS requirements of each MS.

The paper studies the Quality of Service(QoS) concept in Broadband Integrated Services Digital Network (B-ISDN). Guaranteeing the QoS requirements indistributed multimedia systems and networks is fundamentally an end-to-end issus, that is, from application to application. An important issue in the QoS translation between the application-level QoS and network-level QoS is that the translation depends not only on the translation between system resources and network resources, but also on the translation between thelayered protocol and the access procedures. In this paepr, we propose a methodology for translating the AAL(ATM Adaptation Layer) QoS parameters into the ATM layer QoS parameters in end-systems. The QoS parameters in the ATM layer and AAL are defined, and we concentrate on the translation from the AAL to the ATM layer, because the AAL must be designed to be service dependent and specific. As an example, we concentrate on the constant bit rate(CBR) guaranteed real-time service using AAL1 protocol.

Recently, localized QoS routing scheme was recently proposed for overcome drawbacks of global state QoS routing schemes. Localized QoS routing dose not exchange QoS states among routers, but use virtual capacity based routing scheme instead. In localized QoS routing, to archive good performance, a set of candidate paths must be selected between the source and the destination effectively. In this paper we propose a few heuristics for effective path selection and develop path selection algorithms based on the heuristics. More detail analysis of the proposed algorithm is presented with simulation results which demonstrate that the path selection method can very affect the performance of localized QoS routing.
The Internet of Things (IoT) environment must be able to meet the needs of users by providing access to various services that can be used to develop diverse user applications. However, QoS issues arise due to the characteristics of the IoT environment, such as numerous heterogeneous devices and potential resource constraints. In this paper, we propose a QoS prediction method that reflects trust between users in SOA based IoT. In order to increase the accuracy of QoS prediction, we analyze the trust and distrust relations between users and identify similarities among users and predict QoS based on them. The centrality is calculated to enhance trust relationships. Experimental results show that QoS prediction can be improved.

The primary aim of this paper is to propose a non-linear regression based technique for mapping different network Quality of Service (QoS) factors to an integrated end-user Quality of Experience (QoE) or Mean Opinion Score (MOS) value for an online video streaming service on a mobile phone. We use six network QoS factors for finding out the user QoE. The contribution of this paper is threefold. First, we investigate the impact of the network QoS factors on the perceived video quality. Next, we perform an individual mapping of the significant network QoS parameters obtained in stage 1 to the user QoE based upon a non-linear regression method. The optimal QoS to QoE mapping function is chosen based upon a decision variable. In the final stage, we evaluate the integrated QoE of the system by taking the combined effect of all the QoS factors considered. Extensive subjective tests comprising of over 50 people across a wide variety of video contents encoded with H.265/HEVC and VP9 codec have been conducted in order to gather the actual MOS data for the purpose of QoS to QoE mapping. Our proposed hybrid model has been validated against unseen data and reveals good prediction accuracy.
