  • Multimedia streaming service is susceptible to loss and delay of data as it requires high bandwidth and real time processing. Therefore QoS cannot be guaranteed due to data loss caused by heavy network traffic. To deal with these problems, a study on algorithm that can provide high quality multimedia service by considering both network congestion and characteristics of multimedia data is required. In this paper, we propose APQM algorithm which probabilistically removes packet by the congestion level of the queue in wireless station. The comparison with other existing scheduling algorithms shows tht congestion in the network is reduced and multimedia service quality of the proposed algorithm is improved.

  • In this paper, we propose a new dynamic bandwidth allocation and call admission control method for the VBR video sources with QoS constraints to provide user's quality of service requirements and at the same time to achieve an efficient resource management in networks. The proposed mechanism dynamically adjusts the necessary bandwidth by the networks based on the provided quality of service satisfaction degree of each connection in respect to the user's requirements in terms of loss ratio and average delay Simulation results show that our proposed dynamic method is able to provide the desired level of quality of service and high utilization.

  • One of the most challenging technical issues in mobile communication for multimedia is Quality of Service (QoS) management of handover calls. This paper proposes a 2-level handover control system to copy with this problem. A 2-level handover control system consists of resource reservation and call admission control modules. The resource reservation module divides the network resource into Hard and Soft reserved resource. The Hard reserved resource is only for the handover calls while the Soft reserved resource is for both the handovers and the new calls. And also, the resource reservation module classifies handovers into primary and secondary handovers based on often they occur. The call admission control module deals with the primary and secondary handover calls in different ways. The new calls can use Soft reserved resource only if there is sufficient amount available in the Hard reserved resource. Proposed system is evaluated using an M/M/c/c queueing model. It is shown that proposed system allows more efficient utilization of network resource without degrading QoS comparing with the legacy handover control systems.

  • It is essential to satisfy class-specific QoS constraints to provide broadband services for new generation networks. The present study proposes a QoS-driven multicast scheme for wireless networks in which the transmission rate and end-to-end delay are assumed to be bounded during a multiple multicast session. A distributed algorithm was used to identify a cost-efficient sub-graph between the source and destination which can satisfy QoS constraints of a multicast session. The model was then modified as to be applied for wireless networks in which satisfying interference constraints is the main challenge. A discrete power control scheme was also applied for the QoS-aware multicast model to accommodate the effect of transmission power level based on link capacity requirements. We also proposed random power allocation (RPA) and gradient power allocation (GPA) algorithms to efficient resource distribution each of which has different time complexity and optimality levels. Experimental results confirm that the proposed power allocation techniques decrease the number of unavailable links between intermediate nodes in the sub-graph and considerably increase the chance of finding an optimal solution.

  • Traditional Internet applications such as FIP and E-mail are increasingly sharing bandwidth with newer, more demanding applications such as Web browsing, IP telephony, video conference and online games. These new applications require Quality of Service (QoS), in terms of delay, loss and throughput that are different from QoS requirements of traditional applications. Unfortunately, current Active Queue Management (AQM) approaches offer monolithic best-effort service to all Internet applications regardless of the current QoS requirements. This paper proposes and evaluates a new AQM technique, called MCDT that provides dynamic and separated buffer threshold for each Applications, those are FTP and e-mail on TCP traffic, streaming services on tagged UDP traffic, and the other services on untagged UDP traffic. Using a new QoS metric, our simulations demonstrate that MCDT yields higher QoS in terms of the delay variation and a packet loss than RED when there are heavy UDP traffics that include streaming applications and data applications. MCDT fits the current best-effort Internet environment without high complexity.

  • In this paper, we propose for improving QoS in Hospital wireless network using Cellular-IP/PRC(Paging Route Cache) with Paging Cache and Route Cache in Cellular-IP and propose for performance of realtime and non-real time handoff service using Handoff state machine Paging Route Cache. Although the Cellular-IP/PRC technology is devised for mobile internet communication, it has its vulnerability in frequent handoff environment. This handoff state machine using differentiated handoff improves quality of services in Cellular-IP/PRC Suggested algorithm shows better performance than existing technology in wireless mobile internet communication environment. When speech quality is secured considering increment of interference to receive in case of suppose that proposed acceptance method grooves base radio station capacity of transfer node is plenty, and moat of contiguity cell transfer node was accepted at groove base radio station with a blow, groove base radio station new trench lake acceptance method based on transmission of a message electric power estimate of transfer node be. • The scheduling algorithms to provide quality of service (QoS) in broadband convergence network (BcN) are compared and analysed. The main QoS management methods such as traffic classification, traffic processing in the input queue and weighted queueing are first analysed, and then the major scheduling algorithms of round robin, priority and weighted round robin under recently considering for BcN to supply real time multimedia communications are analysed. The simulation results by NS-2 show that the scheduling algorithm with proper weights for each traffic class outperforms the priority algorithm.

  • Internet telephony is an application that transmits voice data for conversation. Therefore it must provide high sound quality. However while audio packets are transferred through the network, they are affected by delay variations and jitters, which could result in poor sound quality of the receiving end does not have an appropriate jitter buffer to overcome network factors. This thesis introduces a buffer management algorithm that could be used to provide better sound quality for Internet phone terminals. This algorithm actively responds to both the compression algorithms that are used by the terminals, as well as to the received data to provide an improvement in sound quality. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, we experimented in variance network settings. The results show that the proposed algorithm improves on the performance of the conventional buffer management algorithm.

  • Video services have been widely generalized thanks to the progress in compression streaming technologies. In spite of the innate difficulties in guaranteeing quality of service(QoS) of the Internet, the quality of service that is experienced by users have been improved considerably with overall bandwidth growth over the Internet and new compression and streaming technologies. For further sophisticated management scheme from the current homogeneous one, it should consider the characteristics of video contents. This paper investigates that the Quality of Experience(: QoE) for video services can vary according to the characteristics of video contents for the same compression method and transmission environments. It is expected that this result contributes to establish a new and advanced scheme to manage QoE for video services over the Internet.

  • Increased network reliability is required as the size of communication network becomes larger and the bandwidth requirement is increasing. And preparing of backup path is required to protect the network from serious network failures in high speed network. In this paper, we construct multiple logical networks on a physical ATM network according to the ATM bearer service category(CBR, rt-VBR, nrt-VBR, ABR, UBR) defined by ATM Forum to support the required QoS(Quality of Service) and to manage the network more efficiently. We use backup path restoration algorithm rather than dynamic restoration to achieve rapid restoration when active path fails and we use fault management function in TINA. We propose a restoration scheme that is suitable for high-speed network.
