  • Recently there is a growing Interest In mobile cellula r network providing multimedia service. However, the link bandwidth of mobile cellular network is not sufficient enough to provide satisfactory services to use rs. To overcome this problem, an adaptive framework has been proposed in this study, we propose a new method of estimating DPR(degradation period ratio) in an adaptive multimedia network where the bandwidth of ongoing call can be dynamically adjusted during its lifetime. DPR is a QoS(quality of service) parameter which represents the ratio of allocated bandwidth below a pre-defined target to the whole service time of a call. We improve estimation method of DPR using DTMC(discrete time Markov chain) model. We also calculate mean degradation period and degradation probability more precisely than in existing studies. Under Threshold CAC(call admission control) algorithm, we present analytically how to guarantee QoS to users and illustrate the method by numerical examples. The proposed method is expected to be used as one of CAC schemes in guaranteeing predefined QoS level of DPR

  • One of the most challenging technical issues in mobile communication for multimedia is Quality of Service (QoS) management of handover calls. This paper proposes a 2-level handover control system to copy with this problem. A 2-level handover control system consists of resource reservation and call admission control modules. The resource reservation module divides the network resource into Hard and Soft reserved resource. The Hard reserved resource is only for the handover calls while the Soft reserved resource is for both the handovers and the new calls. And also, the resource reservation module classifies handovers into primary and secondary handovers based on often they occur. The call admission control module deals with the primary and secondary handover calls in different ways. The new calls can use Soft reserved resource only if there is sufficient amount available in the Hard reserved resource. Proposed system is evaluated using an M/M/c/c queueing model. It is shown that proposed system allows more efficient utilization of network resource without degrading QoS comparing with the legacy handover control systems.

  • Recently, according to the rapid increase of Web users, various kinds of Web applications have been being developed. Hence, Web QoS(Quality of Service) becomes a critical issue in the Web services, such as e-commerce, Web hosting, etc. Nevertheless, most Web servers currently process various requests from Web users on a FIFO basis, which can not provide differentiated QoS. This paper presents two approaches to provide differentiated Web QoS. The first is the kernel-level approach, which is adding a real-time scheduling processor to the operating system kernel to maintain the priority of user requests determined by the scheduling processor of Web server. The second is the load-balancing approach, which uses If-level masquerading and tunneling technology to improve reliability and response speed upon user requests.

  • Long Tenn Evolution (LTE) is the next generation mobile phone technology which has being standardized by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). In the existing mobile communication networks, voice traffic is delivered through circuit switched networks. In LTE, however, all kinds of traffic are transferred through IP based packet switched networks which has best-effort characteristic. Therefore, providing QoS in LTE system is difficult. In order to provide QoS in LTE, RRM is very important. Especially, in part of RRM, call admission control (CAC) performs an important function to reduce network congestion and guarantee a certain level of QoS for on-going calls. In this paper, we propose a CAC algorithm in order to provide QoS for various kinds of services in LTE system. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated with various simulation environments. The results show that the proposed algorithm provides QoS through rejections of requested calls. Especially, the proposed CAC algorithm can be satisfied with packet delay requirement defined in LTE specification.

  • This paper proposes a new scheduling algorithm for broadband ATM access network. The existed scheduling algorithms (Train, Chao. Dynamic scheduling algorithm) have high cell loss rate and waste channel. These proposed mechanism utilize to control of multimedia services based on the quality of service level of the input traffic This paper suggests a functional architecture of scheduling and the scheduling algorithm to satisfy various QoS requirements. The performance measures of interest, namely steady-state cell loss probability and average delay, average delay, are discussed by simulation results.

  • To provide a guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS) to real-time traffic in High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) core network, we proposed an enhanced mechanism. For an enhanced QoS, a Class-Based Low Latency Fair Queueing (CBLLFQ) packet scheduling algorithm is introduced in this work. Packet classification, metering, queuing, and scheduling using differentiated services (DiffServ) environment was the points in focus. To classify different types of real-time voice and multimedia traffic, the QoS provisioning mechanisms use different DiffServ code points (DSCP).The proposed algorithm is based on traffic classes which efficiently require the guarantee of services and specified level of fairness. In CBLLFQ, a mapping criterion and an efficient queuing mechanism for voice, video and other traffic in separate queues are used. It is proved, that the algorithm enhances the throughput and fairness along with a reduction in the delay and packet loss factors for smooth and worst traffic conditions. The results calculated through simulation show that the proposed calculations meet the QoS prerequisites efficiently.

  • It is widely believed that cognitive radio (CR) networks have an opportunistic nature and therefore can only support best-effort traffics without quality-of-service (QoS) guarantees. In this paper, we propose a centralized CR network that adopts interference averaging techniques to support QoS guaranteed traffics under interference outage constraints. In such a CR network, a CR user adaptively adjusts its transmit power to compensate for the channel loss, thereby keeping the receive signal power at the CR base station (BS) at a constant level. The closed-form system capacity of such a CR network is analyzed and derived for a single cell with one CR BS and multiple CR users, taking into account various key factors such as interference outage constraints, channel fading, cell radius, and locations of primary users. The accuracy of the theoretical results is validated by Monte Carlo simulations. Numerical and simulation results show promising capacity potential for deploying QoS-guaranteed CR networks in frequency bands with fixed primary receivers. Our work can provide theoretical guidelines for the strategic planning of centralized CR networks.

  • In this paper, we present a scalable data delivery infrastructure for such IoT computing environment where we need a common platform where data providers share their diverse sensing data and applications can easily access and receive such data from providers. For efficient data delivery, this paper proposes a new delivery path management technique that take advantage of diverse consumer QoS when building bandwidth-efficient delivery paths. We perform primitive experiments on the path construction and reconstruction which may be major overhead of the scalable infrastructure. The results show that the proposed infrastructure achieves a high level of scalability, and demonstrates that the management overhead is not significant.

  • In this paper, a new mathematical scheme of Macro Handover Management (MHM) in F-HMIPv6 networks based on Location Based Services (LBS) is proposed. Previous schemes based on F-HMIPv6 protocol usually suffer from three major drawbacks: First, They don't exploit the information about the user mobility behavior in order to reduce handover effects. Second, they only focus on the micro mobility level. Third, they don't consider the quality of service (QoS) of the traffic. The proposed MHM scheme avoids these drawbacks using the available information about Mobile Node (MN) such as user mobility patterns and MN's velocity to predict handover and improve network's QoS. It also takes the traffic type in consideration since it presents a major factor in locating QoS for the user. MHM is analyzed and compared with the F-HMIPv6. The results show that MHM improves the performance in terms of packet delivery cost, location update cost, and handover latency. The design of MHM comprises software package in the MN in addition to a hardware part in the network side. It has implications for communication, design, and pricing of mobile services.

  • This paper defines QoE (Quality of Experience) for multi-view video streaming service over WiBro and proposes the CLO (Cross-Layer Optimization) algorithm can maximize this. Proposal CLO algorithm contains from physical layer to video layer. Under the time-varying wireless channel condition, the CLO technique takes view-wise and the temporal priority of the multi-view video into consideration in order to decide the transmission of frames and its FEC level. At the handover situation, it is shown through computer simulation that the optimal quality of the multi-view video can be achieved using the minimum amount of resources if the proposed CLO technique is applied.
