New Inchworm type Actuator with I/Q heterodyne Interferometer Feedback for a Long Stroke Precision Stage

  • The precision stage is an essential device for optic fiber assembly systems, micro machines and semiconductor equipments. A new piezoelectric inchworm type actuator is proposed to implement an actuator-integrated long-stroke linear stage. An in-and-quadrature phase (I/Q) heterodyne interferometer is developed as a feedback sensor of a servo system, and a synchronized counting method is proposed. The proposed measurement system can measure the accurate position of fast moving object with robustness to external sensing noise from actuator vibration. The developed servo stage will be applied to optic fiber device assembly system.

  • In this paper, the authors present a row dynamic route planning by Q-learning. The proposed algorithm is executed in a cellular automation based traffic simulator, which is also newly created. In Vehicle Information and Communication System(VICS), which is an active field of Intelligent Transport System(ITS), information of traffic congestion is sent to each vehicle at real time. However, a centralized navigation system is not realistic to guide millions of vehicles in a megalopolis. Autonomous distributed systems should be more flexible and scalable, and also have a chance to focus on each vehicles demand. In such systems, each vehicle can search an own optimal route. We employ Q-learning of the reinforcement learning method to search an optimal or sub-optimal route, in which route drivers can avoid traffic congestions.   • We propose to designs and to implements a robot analyzing the risk of occurrence of mental disorder of single-person households' workers through the facial expression-detecting system. Due to complex social factors, the number and proportion of single-person households continues to increase. In addition, contrast to the household of many family members, the prevalence of mental disorder among single-person household varies greatly. Since most patients with mental can not detect the disease on their own, counseling and treatment with doctors are often ignored. In this study, we design and implement a robot analyzing the risk of mental disorder of single-person households workers by constructing a system with Q.bo One, a social robot created by Thecorpora. Q.bo One is consisted of Arduino, ar raspberry pie, and other sensors designed to detect and respond to sensors in the direction users want to implement. Based on the DSM-5 provided by the American Psychiatric Association, the risk of mental disorder occurrence was specified based on mental disorder. Q.bo One analyzed the facial expressions of the subjects for a week or two to evaluate depressive disorder, anxiety disorder. If the mental disorder occurrence risk is high, Q.bo One is designd to inform the subject to counsel and have medical treatment with a specialist.

  • In this paper, our main purpose is to establish the existence of weak solutions of a weak solutions of a class of p-q-Laplacian system involving concave-convex nonlinearities: $$\{\array{-{\Delta}_pu-{\Delta}_qu={\lambda}V(x)|u|^{r-2}u+\frac{2{\alpha}}{\alpha+\beta}|u|^{\alpha-2}u|v|^{\beta},\;x{\in}{\Omega}\\-{\Delta}p^v-{\Delta}q^v={\theta}V(x)|v|^{r-2}v+\frac{2\beta}{\alpha+\beta}|u|^{\alpha}|v|^{\beta-2}v,\;x{\in}{\Omega}\\u=v=0,\;x{\in}{\partial}{\Omega}}$$ where ${\Omega}$ is a bounded domain in $R^N$, ${\lambda}$, ${\theta}$ > 0, and 1 < ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$, ${\alpha}+{\beta}=p^*=\frac{N_p}{N_{-p}}$ is the critical Sobolev exponent, ${\Delta}_su=div(|{\nabla}u|^{s-2}{\nabla}u)$ is the s-Laplacian of u. when 1 < r < q < p < N, we prove that there exist infinitely many weak solutions. We also obtain some results for the case 1 < q < p < r < $p^*$. The existence results of solutions are obtained by variational methods.

  • Mathematical curriculum has been developed based on learners' level and difficulties of contents. Succeed in solving problem in mathematics depends on the completion of the precedent learning. Thus, it is important to diagnose students beforehand. It is also important to develop problem-solving skills for students. In this thesis, Q&A system is proposed to help students learn various problem solving skills in mathematics. Although the system is currently applicable to mathematics, it can be applied to any other subjects.

  • In this paper, we propose an adaptive I/Q diversity combining scheme which reduces unnecessary computations while maintaining the required performance level. The system with the proposed scheme adaptively applies a proper combining scheme among the conventional selective scheme and combining scheme based on the comparison result between the estimated instantaneous SNR and the pre-determined threshold. As a result, the system with our proposed scheme can reduce the computational load while maintaining the required performance level. Some selected simulation results show that the system with the proposed scheme can decrease the unnecessary computations compared with the system with the conventional schemes while maintaining the required performance level.

Female Adolescents' Sexual Assertiveness Types: Q Methodology (여성 청소년의 성적 자기주장 유형: Q 방법론 적용)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the type of sexual assertiveness of female adolescents. Methods: A Q methodology which provided a method of analyzing the subjectivity of each type was used. Thirty-three female high school students classified 40 selected Q statements into 9 points standard. The collected data was analyzed by using the PC-QUNAL program. Results: Four types of sexual assertiveness manifested by female adolescents were identified: Type 1: Self-normative line-drawing type, Type 2: Pleasure-seeking negotiation type, Type 3: Passive relationship maintenance type, Type 4: future-oriented satisfaction-delay type. Conclusion: This study is meaningful because it provides empirical information necessary for the development of theories by verifying integrated attributes related to the female adolescents' sexual assertiveness. Results also induced the measuring tools and succeeding studies, and presented educational material for sex education that is tailored to the developmental level and characteristics of female adolescents.

  • In Gen-2 Q-algorithm, the value of initial $Q_{fp}$ and weight C is not defined in the standard. If we let the initial $Q_{fp}$ be large or small, the number of empty slot will be large during the initial query round or almost all the slots will be collided, respectively. Also, if the reader selects an inappropriate weight, there are a lot of empty or collided slots. As a result, it is anticipated that the performance will be declined because the frame size does not converge to the optimal point quickly during the query round. In this paper, we analyze how the performances of Gen-2 Q-algorithm will be affected by the weight and initial slot-count size.

  • The disturbance observer (DOB) controller has been widely used in various industrial applications since it is capable of achieving robust stability and disturbance rejection. In this paper, we study the effect of Q-filter on disturbance observer controller for Electro-Magnetic suspension (EMS) systems. We consider three Q-filters and analyze their effects on the robust stability against parameter uncertainties due to mass variation. Moreover, we investigate the influence of sensor noise for three Q-filters. According to our study, robust stability improves as the order of Q-filter decreases. On the other hand, the larger the order of Q-filter, the more the effect of sensor noise can be removed.

Active Frequency with a Positive Feedback Anti-Islanding Method Based on a Robust PLL Algorithm for Grid-Connected PV PCS

  • This paper proposes an active frequency with a positive feedback in the d-q frame anti-islanding method suitable for a robust phase-locked loop (PLL) algorithm using the FFT concept. In general, PLL algorithms for grid-connected PV PCS use d-q transformation and controllers to make zero an imaginary part of the transformed voltage vector. In a real grid system, the grid voltage is not ideal. It may be unbalanced, noisy and have many harmonics. For these reasons, the d-q transformed components do not have a pure DC component. The controller tuning of a PLL algorithm is difficult. The proposed PLL algorithm using the FFT concept can use the strong noise cancelation characteristics of a FFT algorithm without a PI controller. Therefore, the proposed PLL algorithm has no gain-tuning of a PI controller, and it is hardly influenced by voltage drops, phase step changes and harmonics. Islanding prediction is a necessary feature of inverter-based photovoltaic (PV) systems in order to meet the stringent standard requirements for interconnection with an electrical grid. Both passive and active anti-islanding methods exist. Typically, active methods modify a given parameter, which also affects the shape and quality of the grid injected current. In this paper, the active anti-islanding algorithm for a grid-connected PV PCS uses positive feedback control in the d-q frame. The proposed PLL and anti-islanding algorithm are implemented for a 250kW PV PCS. This system has four DC/DC converters each with a 25kW power rating. This is only one-third of the total system power. The experimental results show that the proposed PLL, anti-islanding method and topology demonstrate good performance in a 250kW PV PCS.
