  • The marine sponge of the genus Petrosia sp. is known to contain unique metabolites such as furanoterpenoids. These furanoterpenoids have been reported to possess various bioactivities. We have shown previously that ircinin-1 induced cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in SK-MEL-2 human skin cancer cells dose- and time-dependently. In this study. we demonstrated that ircinin-1-induced apoptosis is a accompanied by cleavage of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase protein and PLC-${\gamma}$1 degradation and release of cytochrome c from mitochondria to cytosol. • In this note we describe some classes of rings in relation to Abelian property of factorizations by nilradicals and Jacobson radical. The ring theoretical structures are investigated for various sorts of such factor rings which occur in the process.

  • Tempting to further understand the molecular mechanism of pharmacological action of ethanol, we investigated the acute effects of ethanol on the GABA-activated current (IGABA) of the cultured Sprague-Dawley rat hippocampal neurons in primary culture using the whole-cell patch-clamp technique. Patch-clamp recordings revealed that ethanol potentiated the Cl- current in a concentration-dependent manner(1-300mM) in the majority of the cell studied. This study demonstrates that ethanol can potentiate IGABA in mammalian central neurons.

  • In this paper, we propose the bistability the bistability in a chiral-splay nematic liquid crystal cell, which is obtained by adding a chiral additive to a splay cell and introduce a novel switching method for the bistable chiral-splay nematic cell in order to transit the LC director between the non-twisted state with splay and the 180$^{\circ}$ twist state.
