  • Recently, Li, Brenner, Cornelissen and Kim (2002) reported that 2D shape perception during pursuit eye movement just reflected the retinal image, and this result implies that the visual system ignored the extra-retinal information. In reality, however, we usually do not experience the perceptual distottion of 2D shape during pursuit eye movement. One Possibility is that the visual system night exploit the fact that the relative location between objects on retinal image is constantly maintained even during pursuit eye movement. The present research examined this possibility. Interestingly, perceptual distortion of 2D shape was observed even in the presence of reference, however, the amount of distortion decreased compared to when the reference does not exist. The distance between the reference and the target affected the perceptual distortion. These results imply that reference information is used in 2D shape perception during pursuit eye movement but it cannot completely explain the stable and accurate representation of 2D shape perception during pursuit eye movement.

  • Due to mechanical failure or geographical accessibility, the seismic data can be partially missed. In addition, it can be coarsely sampled such as crossline of the marine streamer data. This seismic data that irregular sampled and spatial aliased may cause problems during seismic data processing. Accurate and efficient interpolation method can solve this problem. Futhermore, interpolation can save the acquisition cost and time by reducing the number of shots and receivers. Among various interpolation methods, the Matching Pursuit method can be applied to any sampling type which is regular or irregular. However, in case of using sinusoidal basis function, this method has a limitation in spatial aliasing. Therefore, in this study, we have developed wavelet based Matching Pursuit method that uses wavelet instead of sinusoidal function for the improvement of dealiasing performance. In addition, we have improved interpolation speed by using inner product instead of L-2 norm.

  • The purpose of this study was first, to clarify the clothing benefits that Uzbek female college students seek through clothing products; and second, to determine whether there is a difference in clothing involvement and clothing purchasing behavior according to the type of clothing benefits. Data were collected from 290 female university students from Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and analyzed using factor analysis, K-means group classification analysis, ANOVA, Duncan test, χ2-test, and frequency analysis. Respondents were classified into four types according to their clothing benefits: individuality/economy-pursuit, comfort-pursuit, fashion/brand-pursuit, and indifference. Significant differences were identified in terms of clothing involvement, information sources, clothing evaluation criteria, clothing store attributes, clothing wearing conditions (including monthly clothing expenses), number of purchases per year, clothing purchase location, clothing preference style, and clothing dissatisfaction. The fashion/brand-pursuit and personality/economy-pursuit types were influenced more by fashion and symbolism of clothing involvement, information sources, clothing evaluation criteria, and clothing store attributes. The individuality/economy-pursuit type purchased more frequently, spent more monthly clothing expenses, and used the internet. Clothing store attributes were considered more important by female students than the other attributes. In these results, clothing benefits were identified as consumer characteristics of female Uzbek college students and market segmentation was determined. In addition, it is meaningful in providing basic data for efficient marketing activities and minimizing trials and errors in establishing local-friendly strategies for target customers in different cultures.
