The samples were synthesized by using a solid state reaction. The X-ray diffraction pattern for $Ti_{0.96}Co_{0.02}Fe_{0.02}O_2$ showed a pure rutile phase with tetragonal structures. Mixtures of the proper proportions of the elements sealed in evacuated quartz ampoule were heated at $870{\sim}930^{\circ}C$ for one day and then slowly cooled down to room temperature at a rate of $10^{\circ}C/h$. In order to obtain single phase material, it was necessary to grind the sample after the first firing and to press the powders into pellets before annealing them for a second time in evacuated and sealed quartz ampoule. Magnetic properties have been investigated using the vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM). Room temperature magnetic hysteresis(M-H) curve showed an obvious ferromagnetic behavior and the magnetic moment per Fe atom under the applied of 0.8T was estimated to be about $1.3{\mu}_B/CoFe$. But the magnetic moment per Fe atom under the applied of 0.8T was estimated to be about $0.02{\mu}_B/CoFe$ without Ti-getter.
Owing to the demand for lithium-ion batteries, the recovery of valuable metals from waste lithium-ion batteries is required in future. A pyrometallurgical treatment is appropriate for recycling a large number of waste lithium-ion batteries, but Li loss to slag and dust present a significant challenge. This research investigated carbonation roasting and water leaching behaviors in Li-ion batteries by graphite addition to recover Li from the NCM-based cathode materials of waste Li-ion batteries. When 10 wt% of graphite was added, CO and CO2 gases were emitted with a rapid weight reduction at apporoximately 850 K, when heated in Ar and CO2 atmosphere. After the rapid weight reduction, NCM was decomposed and reduced to metal oxides and pure metals. In the carbonation roasting of black powder (NCM+graphite), O2 is generated via the decomposition of NCM, and an oxides, such as Li2O and NiO were were also generated. Subsequently, Li2O reacts with CO2 to generate Li2CO3, and a part of NiO was reduced by graphite to produce metal Ni. In addition, up to 94.5 % Li2CO3 with ~99.95 % purity was recovered via water leaching after carbonation roasting.
In this work, hydrate inhibition performance of water-soluble polymers including pyrrolidone, caprolactam, acrylamide types were evaluated using torque measurement and high pressure differential scanning calorimeter (HP ${\mu}$-DSC). The obtained experimental results suggest that the studied polymers represent the kinetic hydrate inhibition (KHI) performance. 0.5 wt% polyvinylcaprolactam (PVCap) solution shows the hydrate onset time of 34.4 min and subcooling temperature of 15.9 K, which is better KHI performance than that of pure water - hydrate onset time of 12.3 min and subcooling temperature of 6.0 K. 0.5 wt% polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) solution shows the hydrate onset time of 27.6 min and the subcooling temperature of 13.2 K while polyacrylamide-co-acrylic acid partial sodium salt (PAM-co-AA) solution shows less KHI performance than PVP solution at both 0.5 and 5.0 wt%. However, PAM-co-AA solution shows slow growth rate and low hydrate amount than PVCap. In addition to hydrate onset and growth condition, torque change with time was investigated as one of KHI evaluation methods. 0.5 wt% PVCap solution shows the lowest average torque of 6.4 N cm and 0.5 wt% PAM-co-AA solution shows the average torque of 7.2 N cm. For 0.5 wt% PVP solution, it increases 11.5 N cm and 5.0 wt% PAM-co-AA solution shows the maximum average torque of 13.4 N cm, which is similar to the average torque of pure water, 15.2 N cm. Judging from the experimental results obtained by both an autoclave and a HP ${\mu}$-DSC, the PVCap solution shows the best performance among the KHIs in terms of delaying hydrate nucleation. From these results, it can be concluded that the torque change with time is useful to identify the flow ability of tested solution, and the further research on the inhibition of hydrate formation can be approached in various aspects using a HP ${\mu}$-DSC.

Global warming due to indiscriminate carbon dioxide emissions has a profound impact on human life by causing abnormal climate change and ecosystem destruction. As a way to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, in this study, we presented a polymeric membrane prepared by blending a self-crosslinkable P(GMA-g-PPG)-co-POEM (SP) copolymer and commercial polymer polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP). As the content of PVP increased, it was observed that the gas permeance decreased and $CO_2/N_2$ selectivity increased. At 30 wt% PVP content, the $CO_2$ permeance of the membrane decreased from 72.9 GPU of pure SP polymer to 12.6 GPU, while $CO_2/N_2$ selectivity improved by 79% from 28.1 to 50.4. It results from the hydrogen bonding between the SP copolymer and PVP, leading to more compact structure of the polymer chains, which was confirmed by FT-IR, TGA, XRD and SEM analysis. Therefore, we suggest that the permeance and selectivity of the membranes can be easily adjusted as desired by controlling the PVP content in the SP/PVP polymer blend.
In this study, we developed mixed matrix membranes by blending thermoplastic elastomer, i.e. polystyreneblock-polybutadiene-block-polystyrene (SBS) block copolymer with the synthesized UiO-66 particles for CO2/N2 gas separation. To investigate the effect of UiO-66 particles in the SBS matrix, we prepared different mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) by varying the mass ratio of SBS and UiO-66 in the blend. To fabricate well-dispersed UiO-66, the SBS/UiO-66 mixture was sonicated and stirred thoroughly. The physico-chemical properties of prepared membranes were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The gas separation performance was measured by time-lag method. The permeability of the MMMs increased significantly as the content of UiO-66 increased, but the CO2/N2 selectivity did not decrease significantly. The membranes containing 20% of UiO-66 particles showed the best performance with the CO2 permeability and CO2/N2 selectivity of 663.8 barrer and 13.3, respectively. This result showed performance closer to upper bound than pure SBS membrane in the Robeson plot, as the added UiO-66 particles did not significantly sacrifice selectivity and more than doubled gas permeability.
Even though fuel cell have high efficiency when pure hydrogen from gas tank is used as a fuel source, it is more beneficial to generate hydrogen from city gas (mainly methane) in residential application such as domestic or office environments. Thus hydrogen is generated by reforming process using hydrocarbon. Unfortunately, the reforming process for hydrogen production is accompanied with unavoidable impurities. Impurities such as CO, $CO_2$, $H_2S$, $NH_3$, $CH_4$, and $CH_4$ in hydrogen could cause negative effects on fuel cell performance. Those effects are kinetic losses due to poisoning of the electrode catalysts, ohmic losses due to proton conductivity reduction including membrane and catalyst ionomer layers, and mass transport losses due to degrading catalyst layer structure and hydrophobic property. Hydrogen produced from reformer eventually contains around 73% of $H_2$, 20% or less of $CO_2$, 5.8% of less of $N_2$, or 2% less of $CH_4$, and 10ppm or less of CO. This study is aimed at investigating the effect of carbon dioxide on fuel cell performance. The performance of PEM fuel cell was investigated using current vs. potential experiment, long run(10 hr) test, and electrochemical impedance measurement when the concentrations of carbon dioxide were 10%, 20% and 30%. Also, the concentration of impurity supplied to the fuel cell was verified by gas chromatography(GC).
TBAB (tetra-n-butyl ammonium bromide) forms a semi-clathrate with water under atmospheric pressure conditions and recently has attracted great attention due to its usage as a thermodynamic promoter in gas storage and separation process using gas hydrate formation. In this study, we measured the three-phase (hydrate (H) - liquid water ($L_{w}$)-vapor (V)) equilibria of the ternary $CH_{4}$+TBAB+water and $CO_{2}$+TBAB+water mixtures at the TBAB concentrations of 5 and 32 wt% to investigate promoting characteristics of TBAB. The greater promotion effect of TBAB was observed at 32 wt% than at 5 wt%. This result was in good agreement with that from pure TBAB semi-clathrate phase diagram under atmospheric pressure conditions. Through $^{13}C$ NMR analysis of the $CH_{4}$+TBAB semi-clathrate, it was found that $CH_{4}$ molecules are enclathrated in the cages of the double semi-clathrate and the position of resonance peak from encaged $CH_{4}$ molocules in the double semi-clathrate is the same as that from encaged $CH_{4}$ molocules in the pure $CH_{4}$ hydrate of structure I.

Ag-doped $TiO_2$ thin films were prepared by RF magnetron co-sputtering method, and their physical and chemical properties were examined as a function of calcination temperature. XRD results showed that the crystallite size of Ag-doped films was smaller than that of the $TiO_2$ thin films. SEM results showed that the particle size of $Ag/TiO_2$ film was smaller and more uniform than pure $TiO_2$ film. The films had high transparency in the visible range. The films calcined at $600^{\circ}C$ were the anatase phase, and the films calcined at $900^{\circ}C$ were a mixture of anatase and rutile phases. The absorption edge of films calcined at $900^{\circ}C$ was red-shifted. This is due to the augmented absorption resulting from the phase transformation from anatase to rutile phase. And the transmittance of films decreased by the light scattering and absorption in the films. Photocatalytic activity of $Ag/TiO_2$ thin films was higher than that of the pure $TiO_2$ thin films.

As the membrane gas separation technology grows, various models were developed by numerous researchers to describe the separation process. In this work, the counter-current model was compared thoroughly with experimental data. Experimentally, hollow fiber membrane using CA module was prepared for the separation of biogas. The pure gas permeation properties of membrane module for methane, nitrogen, oxygen, and carbon dioxide were measured. The permeance of CO2 and CH4 were 25.82 GPU and 0.65 GPU, respectively. The high CO2/CH4 selectivity of 39.7 was obtained. the separation test for three different simulated mixed gases were carried out after pure gas test, and the gas concentration of the permeate at various stage-cut were measured from CA membrane module. Results showed that the experimental data agreed with the numerical simulation. A mathematical model has implemented in this study for the separation of biogas using a membrane module. The finite difference method (FDM) is applied to calculate the membrane biogas separation behaviors. Futhermore, the counter-current model can be considered as a convenient model for biogas separation process.
Calcium carbonate (CaCO3) exhibits three polymorphs: calcite with arhombohedral, vaterite with a spherical, and aragonite with a needle-like structure. Qualitative and quantitative analyses of the morphology of CaCO3 are very important to investigate the synthesis of single-crystal vaterite and aragonite. In this work, the polymorphs of calcium carbonate were quantitatively analyzed using XRD. Pure vaterite and pure aragonite were synthesized and the peak distribution of a single phase was analyzed. The vaterite fraction of a mixture of calcite and vaterite was calculated based on the intensity of a specific diffraction peak, and compared to the results based on the peak area. The mean value of fsV (the correction factor for the peak area of vaterite) was 0.654. The phase analysis of calcite-aragonite mixtures was performed, and the mean value of fsA (the correction factor for the peak area of aragonite) was obtained as 0.6713. Using these factors, Eq. (24)~Eq. (32) for the quantitative analysis based on the total peak area of XRD were derived to calculate the phase contents of ternary phase CaCO3. And three-component XRD section was defined considering overlapping sections.
