  • In this paper, the behaviors of tunnel damaged by fire, the diagnostic techniques for evaluating tunnel stability are presented. Also two fireproof construction methods are recommended. Three tunnels damaged by fire were analyzed to evaluate the structural stability. From the these analyzed, it is recommended that surface checking, rebound number of concrete by Schmidt Hammer, and carbonation of concrete are essential to evaluate the engineering properties of concrete in tunnel structure damaged by fire. On the basis of case studies of tunnel fire collected by ITA, the change of concrete and steel strengths by fire are explained, and numerical analysis, which was performed on culvert and circle tunnel, shows that distribution of temperature in the tunnel is dependant upon tunnel shape. Two fireproof construction methods using panel and punching metal are introduced to protect the tunnel by fire.

  • Main topics in this study is a new structural detail for connection between H-Steel or SRC column and flat plate slab. We carried out to evaluate the punching shear performance of H-steel or SRC column + RC slab system for vertical load and lateral load. From the test results structural characteristics - yield moment, yield rotation, maximum moment, deformation capabilities ect. - are obtained and evaluated. In this paper as a shear reinforcement for supporting region of plate closed stirrup type and shear band are used, and their test results are compared.

  • A reliable tensile test technique for PDP's barrier rib materials was introduced. A tensile specimen was prepared by punching out of green sheet, curing the specimen in a high temperature furnace, attaching sand paper tabs on each grip ends, and then attaching two strain gages for the strain monitoring and specimen alignment. Preliminary tensile tests were successfully done with the specimens made from ZnO-based lead-free green sheet. The specimens cured at 3 different maximum curing temperatures were tested to demonstrate the applicability of the test method. The Young's modulus was 88 ${\pm}$ 4 GPa regardless of the maximum curing temperature. The ultimate tensile strength was decreased with increasing the temperature. The tensile test method proposed in this study was proven to be reliable, useful and easy to estimate the bulk mechanical properties of barrier rib materials.

  • In order to create a solid model more efficiently for a plastic or sheet metal product with a thin and constant thickness, various methods have been proposed up to now. One of the most typical approaches is to create a sheet model initially and then transform it into a solid model automatically for a given thickness. The sheet model as well as the transitive model in sheet modeling procedure is a non-manifold model. However, the previous methods adopted the boundary representations for a solid model as their topological framework. Thus, it is difficult to represent the exact adjacency relationship between topological entities and to implement the topological operations for sheet modeling and the transformation procedure of a sheet into a solid. In this paper, we proposed a sheet modeling system based on a non-manifold topological representation which can represent solids, sheets, wireframes, and their mixture. A set of generalized Euler operators for non-manifold topology as well as the sheet modeling capabilities including adding, bending, and punching functions are provided for easy modeling of sheet objects, and they are perfomed interactively with a two dimensional curve editor. Once a sheet model is completed, it can be transformed into a solid automatically. The transformation procedure is composed of the offset functions and the Boolean operations of sheet models, and it is even more comprehensive and easier to be implemented than the precious methods.

  • The clad sheet material is produced by a roll-bonding process of one or more materials with different properties. Good formability of clad sheet material is an essential property in to deform a clad metal sheet into a part or component. Performance of the clad sheet material largely depends on interfacial bond strength between different materials. In this study, interfacial bond strength of STS/Al clad sheet was analyzed by varying experimental parameters using a blanking process. Experimental parameters are the punching speed, clearance, and stacking order of plate materials. In addition, blanking test results were compared with bond strengths measured by the T-peel test, that analyzes interface bonding strength of the standard clad sheet. The blanking process was analyzed by the finite element method under the sticking condition of interface of different materials, and experimental results and analysis results were compared.

  • This paper presents the performance investigation and design technology of a Line Start-up Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (LSPMSM) with super premium efficiency, including a design consideration and evaluation for motor start-up, key performance, and advanced finite element analysis FEA) for the design, improvement and verification, prototype build and test, design and test data comparison with a $Premium^{(R)}$ Efficient Induction Motor (PEIM). To assess the design technology, the LSPMSM prototype was built amended from a PEIM with the same frame, stator punching and rated output. Based on the prototype test, two novel design improvements and analyses have been done to eliminate noise and vibration. Additionally, the comparisons with the PEIM on the power factor, efficiency, frame size and active material consumption indicated that a significant performance improvement and active material cost reduction can be achieved by the LSPMSM.

  • In this study, a computer program to predict the behavior of laterally loaded single pile and pile groups was developed by using a beam-column analysis in which the soils are modeled as nonlinear springs by a family of p-y curves for subgrade modulus. The special attention was given to the lateral displacement of a single pile and pile groups due to the soil condition and the cap rigidity. The analysis considering group effect was carried out for $2{\times}2$ and $3{\times}3$ pile groups with the pile spacing 3.0B, 4.0B and 5.0B. Based on the results obtained, it is found that the overall distributions of deflection, slope, moment, and shear force in a single pile give a reasonable results irrespective of cap connectivity conditions. It is also found that even though there are some deviations in deflection prediction compared with the observed ones, the prediction by present analysis simulates much better the general trend observed by the centrifuge tests than the numerical solution predicted by PIGLET.

  • Modem society has reached the level where its environmental pollution is in a critical stage, and socio-political focus has been moved onto the minimization of environmental pollution. In the fashion industry, ethical production and consumption for the global protection has become the value to aim for. The purpose of this study is to establish the concept of redesigned fashion, which is a type of designing method designed to reduce global waste, and conduct a case studies on it to analyze its patterns. Environmental-friendly redesigned fashion concept is about remaking a fashion with totally different function, using disposed and wornout items from everyday lives. It is a fashion design minimizing raw materials and reducing industrial wastes. The types of redesigned fashion may be divided into three patterns: first, there is a method to recreate collar, sleeves, cuffs, pocket and other usable pieces of old clothing to make a new one. Second method is about taking out usable parts of textile from various old clothing and make a new one with patchwork method. Third is about making a purse or fashion accessories using paper, vinyl, aluminum can or worn out leather. Fourth is about making a new artistic fashion by applying tearing, punching, fringing, mashing, and layering techniques. This study aim5 to help in spreading out and applying systematic practice of redesigned fashion for companies, and elaborate the sense of social responsibility for customers, and vitalize the fashion studies for redesigned fashion in academic sense.

  • This study evaluates the seismic performance of post-tensioned(PT) flat plate frames with or without slab bottom reinforcement. For this purpose, 3 and 9 story PT flat plate frames designed only considering gravity loads. This study conducts a nonlinear static pushover analysis. This study use an analytical model which is able to represent punching shear failure and fracture mechanism. The analytical results showed that seismic performance of PT flat plate frame is strongly influenced by the existence of slab bottom reinforcement through column. By placing slab bottom reinforcement in PT flat plate frame, lateral strength and deformation capacity are significantly increased.

  • Due to its characteristics of acoustic wave energy absorption, punched structures are generally applied on the wall of anechoic room. When the acoustic wave propagates through the punched plates, its energy dissipates into thermal energy by flow separation induced from the viscosity of acoustic media. The acoustic pressure difference between the for-side and the aft-side of punched plate ran be represented by the sum of drag term proportional to square of velocity and inertia term proportional to acceleration. The way to get the coefficients of the terms by an experiment or relatively simple calculation is introduced.
