선대 평판형 플라즈마 반응기에서 NOX 제거에 미치는 자계의 영향 (Effect of Magnetic Field on NOX Removal for Wire-Plate Plasma Reactor)

  • In this paper, the effect of magnetic field was measured on NOx(NO+NO2) removal and consumption power for wire-plate plasma reactor with magnetic field applied to electric field vertically. NOx of the simulated diesel engine flue gas were removed by the corona discharge generated by DC, AC and Pulsed voltages in wire-plate reactor. Consumption power increased with discharge voltage. However, when magnetic field was applied to electric field vertically, consumption power slightly decreased. NOx removal rate and arc transition voltage for plasma reactor with magnetic field were higher than those for plasma reactor without magnetic field. Consumption power decreased, however NOx removal significantly increased, when water vapour bubbled by dry air was put into simulated flue gas.

  • Analysis and verification of reactive power compensator (RPC) for ITER pulsed power electric network (PPEN) are described in this paper. The RPC system is rated for a nominal power of 250 Mvar necessary to comply with the allowable reactive power limit value from the grid 200 Mvar. This system is currently under construction and is based on static var compensation technology with a thyristor-controlled reactor and a harmonic filter. The RPC minimizes reactive power from grid using prediction of reactive power consumption of AC-DC converters. The feasibility of the reactive power compensation was verified by assembling a real controller and implementing ITER PPEN in the real time digital simulator for the hardware-in-loop facility. When maximum reactive power is reached, grid voltage is stabilized and maximum reactive power decreased from 120 Mvar to 40 Mvar via the reactive power prediction method.

  • The application of a pulsed power system is being extended to a environmental and industrial fields. The non-dissolution waste water pollutants from industrial plants can be processed by applying high voltage pulses with a fast rising time (a few nanoseconds) and short duration (nano to microseconds) in a pulsed corona discharge reactor. The nano-pulse generator with a magnetic switch has been developed. Its corona current in load can be adjusted by pulse width and repetition rate. we investigated the performance of the nano-pulse generator using the dummy load which is composed of resistor and capacitor equivalent to the actual reactor. This paper descibes the electrical characteristics of the nano-pulse generator that produces a 300 ns pulse at maximum repetition rate of 400 pps with a voltage of 40 kV across a $640{\Omega}$ load. In this paper we briefly discuss a configuration of system and test results.

  • In this paper, we invented a new and unique technique for the sterilization of Escherichia coli(E. coli) in polluted water. We applied a rich ultra-violet(UV) light from pulsed xenon flashlamp and photocatalyst(TiO2) to sterilize E. coli in polluted water. This method based on the use of UV light and photocatalyst is eco-friendly and does not cause secondary pollution. The proposed elliptical reactor is able to concentrate on quartz sleeve coated TiO2 or general quartz sleeve. The primary objective of our research was to determine the important parameters such as pulse repetition rate and input voltage and to know on the sterilizing efficiency of quartz sleeve coated TiO2 and general quartz sleeve. We obtained to achieve 99.999% sterilization in as little as 6 pulses at 800V in case of quartz sleeve coated Ti02, and 10 pulses at 800V in case of general quartz sleeve for 5 minutes. Although transmitted light of quartz sleeve coated TiO2 is deceased, the sterilizing efficiency is increased by 40% than general quartz sleeve. The reason of high sterilizing efficiency is that generated hydroxyl radical(OH) by photocatalyst and is able to concentrate light at a focus by using elliptical reactor.

Lab-Scale Biosparging Study to Remediate Diesel-Contaminated Soil and Groundwater : the effect of air injection rate and pattern

  • This study was conducted to examine the potential of biosparging process in removing diesel contaminated soil and groundwater. The experiment was carried out lab-scale biosparging reactor and the biodegradation rate of diesel was evaluated as function of air injection rate and pattern. When renter was operated as air injection rate of 1000$m\ell$/min and pulsed air injection(15min pulse, 15min downtime), DO concentration in the renter was higher than another operating condition. The evidence for biodegradation of diesel was the $O_2$ utilization and $CO_2$ product following the cessation of sparging. Especially, air injection rate of 2000$m\ell$/min and pulsed air injection(15min pulse, 15min downtime) enhanced the diesel biodegradation during the operating. After 120day, the biodegradation rate of diesel was decreased as the lack of carbon source.

  • Nickel base brazes containing boron and silicon as melting point depressants are used extensively in the joining and repair of hot-section components in next generation nuclear reactor and aero-engine. Therefore, the present study has investigated the preliminary applicability of nickel based alloying nano powders. Nano Ni-based alloying powders synthesized by Pulsed Wire Evaporation (PWE) method. It's powder morphology and phase transformation temperature were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and differential scanning calorimeter(DSC). The powder particle size was approximately 10${\sim}$100nm and exhibits a quite even equiaxed shape. The results of DSC measurement show that both the nano Inconel 625 nano powder and Inconel 718 nano powder presents similar liquidus temperatures approximately $1373^{\circ}C$ and $1380^{\circ}C$ respectively.

  • Recently plasmas have been used to reduce the undesirable gases $SO_2$, NO, and $NO_2$. Especially bidirectional pulsed voltages were used to increase the efficiency of flue-gas reactors. The particle-Mesh model using NGP (Nearest-grid-point) and FEM (Finite Element Method) calculate the detailed space-time variations of the electric fields for the streamer and it makes the characteristics of reactor more clearly. In this simulation NO is considered a dominant gas.

  • In this paper, we compose of the stepdown chopper and the current source inverter. Because dc side current of the current source inverter pulse with twice frequency of utility, we control that modulation factor of chopper is pulsed twice frequency. Therefore if voltage across the dc reactor equal to zero, it tis decreased. And we control modulation factor of the chopper to operate at maximum power point around of solar cell.

  • An experimental study has been performed to characterize fundamental aspects of VOCs removal using non-thermal palsma technique. The removed VOCs in the present study are toluene ($C_6H_5CH_3$), ethene ($C_2H_4$), propene ($C_3H_6$) which are typical air pollutants generated from industry and automobile engines. The non-thermal plasma used in the present experiments has been produced in a wire-cylinder reactor with pulsed corona or a packed-bed reactor filled with ceramic bead. These differently generated non-thermal plasma have been visualized with an intensified CCD. The images of non-thermal plasma have been used for optimal design of a corona reactor used in the present study. The experimental results show that the removal efficiencies of VOCs with non-thermal plasma are dependant on the reactivity of VOCs with OH, O, and $O_3$. The results also show that the removal efficiencies of VOCs decrease significantly when VOCs are treated with NO that is also oxidized in the presence of OH, O, and $O_3$.

  • Industrial-scale pulse corona process to remove $SO_2$ and $NO_x$ simultaneously from combustion flue gas has been studied. The pilot plant built in the present study treats 2,000 $Nm^3$/hr of flue gas from a boiler. The geometry of the pulse corona reactor is similar to that of an electrostatic precipitator commonly used in industry, A thyratron switch and magnetic pulse compressors, which can generate up to 130 kV of peak pulse voltage and up to 30 kW of average pulse power, have been used to produce pulsed corona. The removal efficiencies of $S0_2$ and $NO_x$ with the present process are maximum of 95 % and 85 %, respectively. Electrical power consumption to produce the pulsed corona, which has been one of the major difficulties to apply this process to industry, has been evaluated in the present study. The results showed that the power consumption can be reduced significantly by simultaneous addition of hydrocarbon injection and heterogeneous phase reactions to the process.
