Sidelobe Suppression Enhancement of Radiofrequency Photonic Filters via Time-to-frequency Mapping

  • We present a multi-tap microwave photonic filter with high selectivity through applying time-to-frequency mapping and optical frequency comb shaping techniques. When arranged in the time-to-frequency mapping stage, by a Fourier transform, the deviation of the optical taps to the target profile is significantly reduced while maintaining the apodization profile, resulting in high sidelobe suppression in the filters. By applying a simple time-to-frequency mapping stage to the conventional optical frequency combs, we demonstrate a substantially enhanced (>10dB) sidelobe suppression, resulting in filter lineshapes exhibiting a significantly high (>40dB) main lobe to sidelobe suppression ratio. These results highlight the potential of the technique for implementation in various passband filters with high sidelobe suppression.

  • 본 논문에서는 HEMP(High-altitude Electromagnetic Pulse)와 같은 외부전자파 환경에 노출된 EMP 방호시설에 연결된 전송선로에 유기된 HEMP 위협에 대한 전도성 방호 성능 평가를 위한 E1 펄스에 대해 연구한다. 기존 E1 펄스 발생장치는 Marx Generator 고전압 승압 방식을 사용하지만, 본 연구에서는 광대역 출력전압(30~350 kV) 가변이 용이한 Tesla Transformer 방식을 사용한다. E1 펄스 발생장치의 구성 요소인 제어기, 전원장치, 고전압 승압장치, 펄스성형장치도 각각 분석한다. Tesla Transformer를 이용한 E1 펄스는 시뮬레이션을 통해 성능을 예측하고, 실제 개발된 장비를 이용하여 결과를 검증한다.

  • The transcranial magnetic stimulation recharges the energy storing condenser, and sends the stored energy in the condenser to the pulse shaping circuit, which then delivers it to the stimulating coil. The previous types of transcranial magnetic stimulation required a booster transformer, secondary rectifier for high voltages and a condenser for smooth type. The energy storing condenser is recharged by switching the high-voltage direct current power. Loss occurs due to the resistance in the recharging circuit, and the single-pulse output energy in the transcranial magnetic stimulation can be changed because the recharging voltage cannot be adjusted. In this study a booster transformer, which decreases the volume and weight, was not used. Instead, a current resonance inverter was applied to cut down the switching loss. A transcranial magnetic stimulation, which can simultaneously alter the recharging voltage and pulse repeats, was used to examine the output characteristics.

이동 형 산업용 단층측정 장치를 위한 감마선 검출시스템 개발 (Development of Measurement System for Industrial Transportable Gamma Ray CT)

  • This paper introduces a gamma-ray measurement system for a transportable tomography which is applicable for an industrial process diagnosis. The gamma-ray measurement system consists of pulse mode operating 72 channel CsI detectors, main AMP-pulse shaper, single channel analyzer, counter and control PC. The CsI crystal is coupled with a PIN diode which is connected to an amplifier and pulse shaper. For a compact design, the amplifier and pulse shaping circuit are included in a single package. 36 sets of CsI detectors are connected to a multi-channel counter through single channel analyzers. A computer controls and collects data from two multi-channel counters. This configuration results in 72 channel counting system in total. The CT rotator and radiation measurement system are controlled by a PC with LabVIEW program. Tomographic data were measured for a phantom by the measurement system and transportable gamma-ray CT. From the experimental data image reconstructions were performed by ML-EM algorithm. The result showed that the CsI detector system can be a suitable component for transportable gamma-ray CT system.

중첩 상승여현 펄스 정형 OQ2PSK 변조 (OQ2PSK Modulation with Overlapped Raised-Cosine Pulse Shaping)

  • MSK보다 스펙트럼의 부엽 억제 특성이 우수한 GMSK를 직교 다중화한 quadrature multiplexed GMSK (QM-GMSK)는 quadrature-quadrature PSK($Q^2PSK$)나 quadrature MSK(QMSK)에 비해 보다 주엽의 폭은 다소 넓지만 부엽이 크게 억제되므로 실제 스펙트럼 효율이 상대적으로 더 높다. QM-GMSK에서 기저대역 기본 펄스를 반파장 정현파의 제곱으로 근사화시키면 QM-GMSK 변조에서 필요한 가우시안 저역통과필터(GLPF)를 사용하지 않고 송신기를 구현할 수 있어서 구조가 간단해지는데, 이것이 offset-$Q^2PSK$($OQ^2PSK$)이다. $OQ^2PSK$는 별도의 필터 사용이 요구되지 않으면서 QM-GMSK와 유사한 스펙트럼 특성을 갖는 장점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 $OQ^2PSK$에서 심볼 길이보다 긴 RC(raised-cosine) 또는 SRC(squared raised-cosine) 펄스를 사용하여 중첩 펄스정형함으로써 $OQ^2PSK$보다 스펙트럼 특성을 개선시킨 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 방식을 사용하면 더욱 부엽의 크기가 억제된 스펙트럼 특성을 얻을 수 있으면서 비트오율 성능이 $OQ^2PSK$와 대등한 결과가 얻어지는 것을 확인하였다.

CZT검출기를 이용한 CT/SPECT 조합영상시스템 (Combined X-ray CT/SPECT System with a Common CZT Detector)

  • CdZnTe 검출기를 제작하고 CT/SPECT 조합영상 시스템에 설치하여 엑스선 및 감마선검출기로서의 응용가능성을 타진해 보았다. 검출기의 크기는 10$\times$10$\times$5 ㎣ 이었다. 양극은 4$\times$4 픽셀로 설계하였으며 각 픽셀의 크기는 $1.5\times$l.5 $\textrm{mm}^2$ 이었다. 음극은 Au로 전극을 만들어 주었다. 시스템의 성능을 조사하기 위해서 방사선촬영용 분해능팬텀과 호프만 뇌 팬텀을 사용하였다. X선 영상에서 고광자방출율을 만족시키기 위해서 shapping time은 50ns 로 하었으며, 3$\times$$10^{5}$ counts/s 까지 선형성이 유지되었다. Tc-99m의 140 keV 감마선에 대한 에너지 분해능은 50 ㎱와 2 $\mu\textrm{s}$ shaping time을 걸어주었을 때 각각 10.4%와 5.3%이었다. CT와 SPECT의 공간분해능은 각각 1 mm와 9 mm 이었다. 광피이크 효율은 50 ㎱와 2 $\mu\textrm{s}$일 때 각각 41.0%와 72.5%이었다.

  • In this paper, we introduce a simple design method f9r mot-squared type raised cosine filter with equiripple characteristics. Through some design examples, we show that the proposed filter has much better performance in ripple than the conventional SRCF at the expense of small increasing of ISI. In addition, the proposed Inter is compatible with conventional SRCF. Finally, we designs the filter for W-CDMPI which uses RRC (Root Raised Cosine) with a=0.22, in 12bit finite precision.

  • In this paper a method of designing FIR filters without digital arithmetic operationsi is persented. The filter coefficients are represented by resistors combined with a differential amplifier. With this method an FIR filter can be simply impemented without refering to complex digital arithmetic operations. Furthermore, in this scheme, no additional D/A converter is needed for D/A conversion. Spectral response response of a pulse shaping filter of 17 coefficients is shown as an illustration.

  • In this paper, an efficient pulse shaping filter architecture for SSB/BPSK-DS/CDMA is proposed. The filter satisfies the specifications in IS-95. The proposed architecture is based on polyphase decomposition and look-up table method. By exploiting the linear phase property of the decomposed filter coefficients, the chip area required for look-up table can be reduced by half compared with the conventional methods. By Synopsys simulations, it is shown that the use of the proposed method can result in reduction in the number of gates by 40%.

다결정 다이아몬드의 와이어방전가공에 관한 연구 (The Study on the WEDM of Polycrystalline Diamond)

  • Polycrystalline diamonds(PCD) tools are widely used in machining a large variety of advanced materials. However, the manufacture of PCD tool blanks is not an economical process. The shaping of PCD blanks with conventional machining methods(such a grinding) is long, labor-intensive process. This paper reports experimental investigation of the influence of electrical machining conditions on the metal removal rate of WEDM of PCD. Experimental results show that the longer pulse-on time and the shorter pulse-off time increase the metal removal rate and worsen the surface quality. The smaller grain size of diamond yields the metal removal rate and shows the better surface quality. Higher electrical conductivity of water yields worse surface roughness.
