DC 스퍼터법과 비대칭 바이폴라 펄스 DC 스퍼터법으로 증착된 TiAlN 코팅막의 물성 비교연구 (A Comparative Study of TiAlN Coatings Deposited by DC and Pulsed DC Asymmetric Bipolar Magnetron Sputtering)

  • The paper presents the comparative results of TiAlN coatings deposited by DC and pulsed DC asymmetric bipolar magnetron sputtering systems. The results show that, with the decreasing duty cycle and increasing pulse frequency, the coating morphology changes from a columnar to a dense structure, with finer grains. Pulsed sputtered TiAlN coatings showed higher hardness, higher residual stress, and smaller grain sizes than dc prepared TiAlN coatings. Moreover residual stress of pulsed sputtered TiAlN coatings increased on increasing pulse frequency. Meanwhile, the surface roughness decreased continuously with increasing pulsed DC frequency up to 50 kHz.

Designing Optimal Pulse-Shapers for Ultra-Wideband Radios

  • Ultra-wideband (UWB) technology is gaining increasing interest for its potential application to short-range indoor wireless communications. Utilizing ultra-short pulses, UWB baseband transmissions enable rich multipath diversity, and can be demodulated with low complexity receivers. Compliance with the FCC spectral mask, and interference avoidance to, and from, co-existing narrow-band services, calls for judicious design of UWB pulse shapers. This paper introduces pulse shaper designs for UWB radios, which optimally utilize the bandwidth and power allowed by the FCC spectral mask. The resulting baseband UWB systems can be either single-band, or, multi-band. More important, the novel pulse shapers can support dynamic avoidance of narrow-band interference, as well as efficient implementation of fast frequency hopping, without invoking analog carriers.

  • This paper introduces a new algorithm of pulse generation and detection for UWB communication system. The existing UWB systems using Gaussian pulse have some difficulties to cope with bandwidth limitation and frequency transition. Moreover. the system sensitivity to channel noise has made the processes of acquisition and tacking difficult. in this paper, we introduce a new pulse generation method which is able to control the bandwidth and center frequency applying modulation method. thus could improve the detection performance of receiving algorithm. Also, we made a system to search maximum perk by applying the proposed algorithm and consequently could guarantee the correct detection. By the result of simulation, when accumulate 10 times at every 2dB band shifting from 0 to 18dB on AWGN channel, we could confirm the proposed method has 97.4% PDR(Pulse Detection Rate) and 1.868% FAR(False Alarm Rate) performance at 4dB SNR and 15% transmission power threshold level.

  • Enthalpy transport in a pulse tube was investigated by two-dimensional analysis of mass. momentum an energy equations of the gas as well as energy conservation of the tube wall. The mean temperature of the gas and the tube wall was obtained directly by assuming that the outer surface of a pules tibe wall is adiabatic. Axial profile of mean temperature is small. but it deviates significantly from linear profile when the dimensionless frequency is large. Effect of operating frequency. tube wall thickness, velocity ratio and velocity phase angle between both ends of a pulse tube on net enthalpy flow were shown.

  • In this study, the performance of the Stirling type orifice Pulse tube refrigerator (OPTR) with a linear compressor was investigated by experiment. The dynamic pressures at three points and a temperature at the cold heat exchanger are measured to explore the dependency of the orifice on the performance of the OPTR. The experimental results show that the opening of the orifice has significant effects on the no load temperature and cool down characteristics. The Pressure amplitude in Pulse tube decrease as the opening of the orifice increase, but the mass flow rate through the orifice and the electric input Power to the compressor increase. The results show that the operating frequency and charging Pressure does not affect on the no load temperature. The pressure amplitude in pulse tube decrease as the operating frequency increase or the charging Pressure decreased.

Using Pulse-Front Tilt to Measure Laser Pulses Less Than 100 Picoseconds in Duration

  • We demonstrate a frequency-resolved optical grating (FROG) device for measuring the intensity and phase versus time of several-tens-of-picoseconds laser pulses, using a thick nonlinear optical crystal. The huge pulse-front tilt generated by a holographic grating increases the temporal range of the device, which can make a single-shot measurement of laser pulses less than 100 ps in duration. To verify the measurement technique, we generate double pulses using a Michelson interferometer. The measured duration of a single pulse is about 300 fs and the measured maximum delay of two pulses is 60 ps, which implies that the proposed FROG device can measure laser pulses with maximum pulse width of about 120 ps.

  • This paper proposes new 12 and 24-pulse rectifier systems using an open-delta auto-connected transformer. This approach employs two static converters to operate it at higher than utility line frequencies and to provide multi-pulse operation. By operating magnetic components at a higher frequency, higher power density can be achieved. A unique feature of the proposed approach is that the magnetic components for the dc-side are also exposed to a higher frequency and these components too are reduced in size. The switching frequency and its harmonic components are absent in the utility input line current. The VA ratings of the transformer and static converter are 0.236/0.292 [pu] and 0.11/0.18 [pu] in 12 and 24-pulse rectifier system, respectively. A finer grade of steel or alternatives can be deployed to increase performance and reduce size further. Analysis, simulations, simulations, design example, and experimental results for a 480[V], 10{kVA] prototype system are presented.

한국에 서식하는 곤박쥐 Rhinolophus ferrumequinum, 집박쥐 Pipistrellus abramus, 큰발윗수염박쥐 Myotis macrodactylus의 반향정위 형태 (General Patterns in Echolocation Call of Greater Horseshoe Bat Rhinolophus ferrumequinum, Japanese Pipistrelle Bat Pipistrellus abramus and Large-Footed Bat Myotis macrodactylus in Korea)

  • In this study, we analyzed the pulse-duration, pulse-interval and peak-frequency of echolocation call in three species as Rhinolophus ferrumequinum, Pipistrellus abramus, and Myotis macrodactylus. The peak frequency and pulse duration for above mentioned species were 69 kHz, 47 kHz and 49 kHz and $69.39{\pm}8.76\;ms$, $4.95{\pm}0.77\;ms$ and $3.09{\pm}0.48\;ms$ for R. ferrumequinum, P. abramus and M. macrodactylus, respectively. The pulse intervals for R. ferrumequinum, P. abramus and M. macrodactylus were $103.61{\pm}9.05\;ms$, $67.59{\pm}3.47\;ms$ and $66.35{\pm}4.96\;ms$, respectively. The pulse pattern of R. ferrumequinum was setting into a short FM call and linked to long CF call and went through the short FM call again. The pulse pattern of M. macrodactylus was comprised with serial short FM call and the CF call was not checked up in accordance with the spectrogram analysis. The long FM call and short CF call got join together for the P. abramus and the peak frequency was checked up at the pulse ending as CF call.

펄스반복주파수 기법을 이용한 초음파 유속 프로파일러 개발 (Development of an Acoustic Velocity Profiler by Using Pulse Repetition Frequency Technique)

  • 본 연구에서는 국내 기술로 개수로 흐름 측정에 활용할 수 있는 초음파 유속 프로파일러를 개발하였다. 이 유속 프로파일러는 초음파의 도플러 효과로 유속을 측정하는 원리에 기반을 두고 있으며, 도플러 주파수는 펄스반복주파수(Pulse Repetition Frequency) 기법에 의해 산정된다. 개발된 유속 프로파일러의 성능을 검증하기 위해 실내 실험 및 현장 테스트를 수행하였다. 실험 결과 개발된 유속 프로파일러는 바닥에서부터 약 0.1 cm 이상의 수심에서는 정상적인 유속 분포를 측정하며, 상용 유속센서 등과 비교하여 유사한 측정 성능을 가진 것으로 확인되었다.
