In modern society, the competition between cities than the competition between countries has been important in general. This kind of a new paradigm has spread worldwide. As a result, public design, naturally, have emreged one of the major trends to get the competitive of city. A lot of public design studies and case study have been published, especially in the city area. But there is not any kind of result public study in local and rural areas. So, for the purpose of revitalizing public design, this study is to propose the public design execution plan and execution plan elements that give the competitiveness of local city and rural areas.

Since public rental housings (social housings) in Korea are extremely standardized and uniformed, a variety of needs of residents for their housing are hardly satisfied. Public rental housing conditions, its low quality and size limitations regardless of residents type and needs resulted into negative images of social housing and social discriminations. Therefore there is a growing demand for alternative housing options in terms of diversification of social housing design with consideration for changing households and housing requirements. The purpose of this study to investigate some housing design guidelines, to analyze layout of building complex, community designs, household units and characteristics, overall design characteristics (sustainable design features, facade design, window and balcony composition, color and materials) and to provide some design suggestions for social housing. Design guidelines are classified into site planning and building layouts, residential building and household units, and performance of housing. Community facilities and their design features provide uniqueness of the public residence. Overall housing size of foreign cases is bigger than the domestic cases. Narrow shape of household units are more dominant in Korean public rental housing. More various shape and forms are found in facade and window design in foreign cases. Some design suggestion are provided for more diverse housing units and design for public rental housing in Korea.

현대 사회는 경제적인 성장과 더불어 주민들의 니즈(Needs)를 어떻게 충분하게 반영해야 하는 중요한 시대에 살고 있다. 공공분야의 욕구는 사회생활에서 살아가는 현대인에게 필요한 기본요건을 의미하며 사회복지정책 차원에서도 매우 중요하다. 이러한 공익적 욕구를 해소하기 위해서 최근 들어 공공디자인에 대한 시설을 지자체마다 활발하게 설치하여 주민들의 편의를 높이고 공공서비스를 확대를 정책적으로 추진하고 있는 실정이다. 이러한 공공디자인은 합리적인 계획과 유지관리가 원활하게 이루어지도록 설치되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 도시지역의 근린공원에 설치될 공익시설물을 대상으로 공공디자인의 현황과 선행연구를 고찰하고 디자인의 개념을 명확히 하여 근린공간에 설치될 공공시설물의 디자인 문제점을 파악해 새롭게 디자인하여 적용하고자 한다. 이러한 실무 개발을 위한 디자인 방향과 공공시설물에 대한 보관, 조립, 관리가 편리한 모듈 조립형 디자인을 제시하여 향후 공공디자인 개발에 관련된 합리적 유지관리 방향을 살펴보고 공공디자인개발 정책에 반영할 수 있는 디자인 개발사례를 제시하고자 한다.

As the technical medium evolves, the method of accepting information is changing. The technical medium also appears in various ways through the combination with art. This study aims to conduct research on how hypermedia, appearing from this, will reveal itself in the urban public design in terms of its expression mode. First, this study looks at the characteristics for expression representation of hypermedia art through theoretical considerations on the hypermedia. Second, this study identifies how hypermedia art is introduced in the urban public design through art cases. Third, this study reveals the characteristics depending on the expression mode of hypermedia art shown in the urban public design based on the analyzed cases. As a result, first, hypermedia appeared in various image lighting expression modes that use 'light' in the urban public design and interacted with the public. Second, hypermedia reacted to 'motion' and was the expression mode of using bodies in the urban public design and using peripheral devices and external environment and characterized by having complex patterns of multi-layered structure through multi-media. It also applied sight, hearing, and touch partially or integratedly to attract synesthesia from the public and checked mutual interaction rapidly in an improvised way. Third, such a complex digital technology was the network expression mode beyond space and time by medium of urban public design and characterized by the new experience of virtual space expansion through the world wide network and the communication mode of participation. With such a role change of media and combination with art, hypermedia has been achieving varied extended representations. It is considered to change our monotonous urban environment, restore our relationship with the public, and open a new field of communication. Accordingly, the significance of this study can be identified through how it aimed to display the expression method of hypermedia which caused its extension in the field of urban public design as well as through the derivation of relevant characteristics.

본 연구는 공공디자인의 정책수립 및 실현과정에서 필요한 담론과 이슈를 정리하여 현재 활발하게 논의되고 있는 사용자참여와 공공성을 기반으로 한 도시건축에서의 공공디자인 정책수립의 방향을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 특히 공공디자인 영역에서 공공성의 개념, 공공디자인의 가치, 그리고 공공디자인의 질적 향상을 이끌어 내기 위한 구체적 정책수단에 대한 사례로서 영국 도시건축위원회인 케이브의 활동을 심도있게 분석하여 향후 공공기관이 공공디자인정책을 수립할 때 참고자료로서 활용될 수 있도록 하였다. 올바른 의사결정을 위한 디자인 지원과 디자인 리뷰제도를 중심으로 케이브의 사례가 시사하는 바를 분석하여 기존의 공공디자인이 갖는 한계를 극복할 수 있는 통합 형 공공디자인 모델의 기본개념을 제시하였다. 본 논문에서 제안한 통합디자인은 가치의 통합, 방식의 통합, 주체의 통합, 이슈의 통합, 장소의 통합 등의 다자간 협력과 소통, 통섭을 강조하는 개념으로 볼 수 있다.

본 연구는 공공서비스디자인을 위한 국민 참여의 실현 방법에 대해 살펴보고자 한다. 먼저, 공공서비스 개발프로세스 개선의 배경, 공공서비스디자인과 국민 참여의 개념을 이해한 후, 국민디자인단을 중심으로 공공서비스디자인을 위한 국민 참여의 실현 방법과 지향하는 바를 요약한다. 국민디자인단은 국민 참여를 실현하기 위해 국민의 직접적인 참여와 서비스디자인 활용에 기반 한 국민 참여 중심의 프로세스, 방법론을 채택했다. 이는 높은 수준의 국민 개입과 정부-국민 간 소통을 지향하는 것임을 발견하였다. 본 연구는 국민 참여 중심의 공공서비스디자인을 위한 국민 참여의 구체적인 실현방법을 탐색하거나, 본질적으로 지향해야 할 요소를 발굴하는데 유용하게 활용 될 것이다.

The value of space is changing with change of modern society value. In this change, there is consistent subject about 'public'. So, design studies of public space for indoor and outdoor space are being carried out. Also, the concept of total design for space is a essential element and substance plan about space design and marketing is accomplished based on the total design. Now days, multiplex cultural space which have the concept of public and total design is increasing interest. Therefore, a case of multiplex cultural space, a purpose of this paper is elements investigate which design elements in public space of indoor and outdoor how it have been connecting fundamental design elements.

The major challenge of designing public halls or performing arts centers in Japan is meeting the expectations of the regional community; greater stakeholder involvement is required in order to solve this problem. The purpose of this paper is to examine whether stakeholders can become more involved in public hall design by using systems engineering (SE), which has never before been applied when designing public halls. As such, this study redesigned an actual public hall (Iwaki Alios) using an SE approach. The results revealed that applying SE was effective in the creation of a public hall concept.

This thesis aims to show the design logics and the meta-design of a public restroom "Between You and Me." This work reinterprets a public restroom regarded as the typical public space by means of spatial agency's influences, on the assumption thor spatial agency controls the properties of public space. This thesis examines our representational system against the public space, and our specific experience in it with the conceptual model of meta-design. Meta-design is a design beyond the design usually we think of. Experiential meta-design, "Between You and Me" presented as the object of this thesis, is a constructive design project which converts our negative perception of the restroom to a new one, "interface." This project, composed of the surrealistic spatial arrangement, urges us to reconsider our fixed thoughts of the restroom and try a creative experience in it. Finally this thesis shows how the space's way of existence fixes our acts and thoughts, and what enables the repetitive acts and thoughts often emerged In our relations with the public space through a meta-design.c space through a meta-design.

The public data portal provides various public data created by the government in the form of files and open APIs. In order to increase the usability of public open data, a variety of information should be provided to users and should be convenient to use for users. This requires the structured data design plan of the public data. In this paper, we propose a data design method to improve the usability of the Seoul subway public data. For the study, we first identify some properties of the current subway public data and then classify the data based on these properties. The properties used as classification criteria are stored properties, derived properties, static properties, and dynamic properties. We also analyze the limitations of current data for each property. Based on this analysis, we classify currently used subway public data into code entities, base entities, and history entities and present the improved design of entities according to this classification. In addition, we propose data retrieval functions to increase the utilization of the data. If the data is designed according to the proposed design of this paper, it will be possible to solve the problem of duplication and inconsistency of the data currently used and to implement more structural data. As a result, it can provide more functions for users, which is the basis for increasing usability of subway public data.
