Public Perceptions of the Appropriateness of Robots in Museums and Galleries

  • This research explores the public's perceptions of the appropriateness of the use of robots in museums and galleries. Using data from an international survey of 1589 participants, the data show that the perceived appropriateness of robot implementation in museums and galleries is driven largely by perceptions of the usefulness and emotional skills of robotic technologies, and their perceived advantages compared to human employees. Additionally, the findings suggest that the general attitudes towards service robots in tourism shape the attitudes towards robots in museums and galleries in particular. Furthermore, the findings reveal that the demographic characteristics of visitors are not related to their perceptions of robots in museums and galleries.

  • As internet becomes widespread, a lot of information is opened to public and users of Internet can access effectively information using web searching service. To construct web searching service, the web searching method for collecting of information is needed to obtain web page view. As a number of web page view increases, it is necessary to collect information of high quality information to be searched, therefore, a variety of web engine for searching mechanism is developed. Method of link extraction with javascript in dynamic web page and design of web searching robot are presented m this paper. To evaluate performance analyzes, we fixed one searching model with the proposed method. The searching time takes 2 minute 67 sec for 299 web pages and 12.33 sec for 10 searching model.

A Design of Mobile Robot based on Camera and Sound Source Localization for Intelligent Surveillance System (지능형 감시 시스템 구축을 위한 영상과 음원 추적 기반 임베디드 모바일로봇 개발)

  • The necessity of intelligent surveillance system is gradually considered seriously from the space where the security is important. In this paper, we embodied unmanned intelligent system by developing embedded mobile robot based on images and sounds tracking. For objects tracking, we used block-matching algorithm and for sound source tracking, we calculated time differences and magnitude dissimilarities of sound. And we demonstrated the superiority of intruder tracking algorithm through the embodiment of Pan-Tilt camera and sound source tracking module using system, Network camera and mobile robot using system and mobile robot using system. By linking security system, the suggested system can provide some interfacing functions for the security service of the public facilities as well as that of home.

  • This paper aims to show that cooperative robots, which have only been used in manufacturing sites, are expanding their scope of use in daily living spaces due to the expansion of non-face-to-face services. By combining robots and IoT technologies in terms of diversifying services in daily life and customized service areas, it is expected that the general public will also have easy access to smart technologies, and these technologies will be used in more areas. The robot barista system will provide customers with the services they want, monitoring, maintenance, and management of the system, making this paper convenient for customers, as well as managers who run stores, maintenance and repair, and engineers who design the system. This paper attempts to demonstrate this through a structure called Robopresso.

  • Recently, research activities to develop services for providing safety information to the drivers in fast moving vehicles based on various wireless network technologies such as DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communication), IEEE 802.11p WAVE (Wireless Access for Vehicular Environment) are widely being carried out. This paper presents a proof-of-concept model based on a robot-car for Dilemma Zone Decision Assistant Service using the wireless LAN technology. The proposed model system consists of a robot-car based on an embedded Linux OS equipped with a WiFi interface and an on-board unit emulator, an Android-based remote controller to model a human driver interface, a laptop computer to run a model traffic signal controller and signal lights, and a WiFi access point to model a road-side unit.

  • 최근의 로봇에 대한 연구를 살펴보면 인간-로봇 상호작용과 시스템의 통합에 관련된 연구가 증가하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 또한 인식 및 인지에 관련된 요소기술들은 이미 상당한 수준에 올라서 있다. 이를 바탕으로 전 세계적인 로봇연구의 추세는 요소기술들의 통합을 통하여 완전한 개체로서의 로봇을 만들려고 하고 있으며 상업화된 시장으로 끌어내려는 쪽으로 변화하고 있다. 그러나 로봇을 상업화된 시장으로 끌어내기 위한 다양한 연구와 노력에도 불구하고 많은 부분에서 부족한 것이 현실이며, 지금까지 개별적으로 개발된 각 요소기술의 통합 또한 필수적이다. 특히 인간과 비슷한 인지능력의 확보를 위한 불확실성 극복능력과 개별적인 요소기술의 성능에만 의지하지 않는 인식능력의 확보는 서비스로봇의 신뢰성 향상을 위하여 필수적이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서 행위적 인지 개념을 제안하였으며 Cognitive Robotic Engine을 통하여 이를 구현하여 상용화된 서비스로봇 플랫폼에 적용하여 실험하였다.

Relationship of Hospital Ownership and Profitability with Prices of Non-Covered Services (병원의 설립형태 및 수익성과 비급여 서비스 가격의 연관성)

  • Purposes: There exist many non-covered services that the National Health Insurance does not cover, and thus, their prices are set by individual health care providers. However, little study has been done to investigate how hospitals set prices for those services. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between ownership, profitability, and prices of those services for a sample of general hospitals. Methodology/Approach: Data regarding the prices of major non-covered services (e.g., upper-level hospital room fees, MRI, Da 7inci robot surgery, and LASIK) were obtained from the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service and the financial information, as well as other characteristics, were derived from the financial reports from the Korea Health Industry Development Institute. Descriptive statistics, t-tests, and multiple linear regression analyses were used to test the relationship between the independent variables and the dependent variables. Findings: Hospitals owned by private universities appeared to have higher prices for non-covered services while regional public hospitals tend to have lower prices. Profitability, measured by operating margin, was not significantly related to the prices. Hospitals that charge higher prices were more likely to be located in the capital area (Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi), and to employ larger number of personnel. Practical Implications: Public hospitals tend to charge lower prices for non-covered services. Relative market power appears to be related to pricing. Further research is needed to investigate whether such a relationship varies over time and its effects on the quality and access.

  • The cause of traffic accidents and driver behavior is affected by psychological factors, because the behavior of drivers and pedestrians, and to identify the psychological linkage analysis to explore improvements in service design approaches are becoming increasingly important. Service design is a service-oriented development methodology that make invisible and intangible elements into visible and higher-value. Accordingly, through design thinking to action for development of products and a pleasant road environment were studied for school zone by discovering underlying issues to resolve in terms of service design. First, survey of domestic road psychological and behavioral problems were derived through the analysis of the causes of traffic accidents and researched the concept of school zones by analyzing the ideas. To reduced the width of the lane manipulate the speed of the vehicle and to cross the crosswalk safely. In order to encourage the flow of vehicle traffic, new solutions are proposed by offering robot traffic lights, graphic design of crosswalk, space, and the fence and convergence public design and services.

  • The purpose of this study is offering appropriate system and training program to helf the system designer and the trainer in addition to analyze information use behavior about the web search tools and evaluate the estimated system by user groups. The results of the study are as follows $\circledS1$ It is desirable to consider age than other demographic variables in the case of web search tool. $\circledS2$ It is desirable to design Directory Search Tool in the case of web search tool which serves the student user group. $\circledS3$ An Intelligent Search Tool is more appropriate for the students who are using keyword search tool than any other tools. $\circledS4$ A discussion about standard classification of the web information should be accomplished soon because users feel confused in using web search tools due t o absence of standard mode of classification about classified item. $\circledS5$ Librarians need the cognition about data on internet s a source of information and need positive service and user training program about these information because student users hardly get help from librarians or library orientation for learning method to use web search tool. $\circledS6$ Internet use experience and years of computer use had effect on their use ability when using web search tool, whereas computer use experience, library use experience and Online Public Access Catalogs (OPAC) use experience had no effect on it. Especially, OPAC use experience had no effect on use ability of web search tool of student user group because student user groups had no information about internet and web search tool and they did not recognized the difference about search method between web search tool and OPAC. $\circledS7$In the case of web search tool, it si important to index the increasing web resource automatically by a searching robot. But in the case of student users, web search tool is much more needed to index by index expert due to the absence of ability about selecting and combining keyword.

  • At present, a variety of Korean news stories have been about important online content and its importance in the press is becoming higher. Diverse news from businesses are provided to the public as press releases through newspapers or broadcasting media. For such news to become information for a press release, enterprises visit reporters, use e-mails, faxes, or couriers to deliver the information. However, such methods have problems with time, human resources, expenses, and file damage. Also, with these methods it is bothersome for enterprises to check what has been released and for the press to make frequent contact with enterprises for interviews and for content to be released. Therefore, this study aimed to realize a distribution system which enterprises can use to distribute data to be released to the press and to easily check what is to be released while the press can ask for interview requests in a simple way, as well as a news gathering robot that can collects news on the enterprises involved from articles online or in portal sites.
