  • Government websites provide useful and timely information to the public such as government's history, organizational values, codes of ethics, public services, facts about public official, among others. Using language choice as framework, the study seeks to examine what language is used, in what contents, and in what kind of website. The study employed online observation in 235 Philippine government websites (.gov.ph) via content analysis. As a result, English is overwhelmingly used; while Filipino, the Philippines' national language, and only a handful of regional languages, are minimally used in the contents. Discussion will follow how multilingualism can improve the dissemination of information and communication more conveniently and efficiently from the government to its citizens.

  • While people with higher education are more likely to vote in most western societies, they are less likely to vote in Korea. To explain this puzzle, this paper introduces new concept of "distrust of the public promise. " With this new concept, this paper contends that in Korea where public promises are so easily broken, those with higher education are more skeptical of the politicians. Based on the various post-election surveys, this paper shows that "distrust of the public promise" leads the more educated people to abstain in the election. By adding rational factors of the voters to the conventional model, this paper proposed a more comprehensive model to explain non-voters in Korea. This paper explains increasing Korean non-voters in terms of rational choice perspective. choice perspective.

  • Like always selecting anything in everyday lives, We must choose a travel mode to achieve its purposes driven by diverse factors such as travel distance and accessibility of public transit. Assuming that they are differentiated depending on whether a travel purpose is commuting, shopping or leasure, the study investigated their distinguished impacts on travel mode choice by using binary logit models by travel purpose and mode. Identifying that travel time has an important role in choosing a travel mode whether its purpose is any, the results show that longer travel time tends to increase the possibilities of taking public transit, transfer and rail transit rather than bus. In addition, the easy use of a car and its parking to travelers is more important in their choosing an automobile as a travel mode than other factors. In the models of identifying the probability of mode choice between bus and rail transit, we find that its choice tends to be decided by travelers depending on whether any public transit mode is more accessible to them. When comparing the results among travel purposes, we identify that the easy use of a car and parking in their destination is more important for commuting, while accessibility of public transit in their origination increases the probability of taking a transit mode.

  • Busan Metropolitan City government has been implementing the local Bus Quasi-Public Operating policy since 2007. As a result of the policy, financial burden to cover financial deficit has become a big social issue. For successful settlement of the policy, the government should be able to gradually cut off the financial support for the deficit by continuously increasing the bus demand, which can be accomplished by providing more convenient bus services. The weather conditions that affect the public transportation demand include rain, fog and snow. They affect the mode choice for public transportation use, which in turn results in decrease in bus demand. In short, the adverse weather conditions result in significant profit loss of bus transportation, and consequently it financially burdens the City of Busan. In this research, the pattern of travelers' use of transportation modes given various weather conditions was analyzed. In addition, the reasons why people transfer from one to other transportation modes were analyzed by conducting a field survey, and policy implications on desirable public transportation facilities and transfer system were discussed.

  • In real life, a decision-maker can assign multiple values for pairwise comparison with a certain confidence level. Studies incorporating multi-choice parameters in multi-criteria decision-making methods are lacking in the literature. So, In this work, an extension of the Best-Worst Method (BWM) with multi-choice pairwise comparisons and multi-choice confidence parameters has been proposed. This work incorporates an extension to the original BWM with multi-choice uncertainty and confidence level. The BWM presumes the Decision-Maker to be fully confident about preference criteria vectors best to others & others to worst. In the proposed work, we consider uncertainty by giving decision-makers freedom to have multiple choices for preference comparison and having a corresponding confidence degree for each choice. This adds one more parameter corresponding to the degree of confidence of each choice to the already existing MCDM, i.e. multi-choice BWM and yields acceptable results similar to other studies. Also, the consistency ratio remained low within the acceptable range. Two real-life case studies are presented to validate our study on proposed models.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of a happiness choice program based on reality therapy on subjective well-being and interpersonal relations in nursing students. Methods: A nonequivalent control group pre-posttest design was used. The participants were 45 nursing students, 22 in the experimental group, and 23 in the control group. They were from 2 different colleges of nursing located in 2 regions. The happiness choice program based on reality therapy was held 6 times over 6 weeks, taking 120 minutes per session. Nursing students' subjective well-being and interpersonal relations were measured. SPSS 18.0 using the ${\chi}^2$-test, t-test, and paired t-test were used in data analysis. Results: Nursing students in the experimental group showed significantly higher life satisfaction (t=3.81, p<.001), positive emotion (t=2.09, p=.042), and interpersonal relations (t=4.11, p<.001), while significantly lower negative emotion (t=-2.59, p=.013). Conclusion: The findings of this study suggest that a happiness choice program based on reality therapy could be a useful intervention for improving subjective well-being and interpersonal relations of nursing students.

  • The issue of child care in family policy is one of the most important agendas. It is the primary task for a welfare state to form such conditions as socializing it to ensure labor rights and parental rights. The aim of this study is to review any controversies in the agenda of free choice in child care. But real 'free choice' comes true when all community members as individuals are able to enjoy their rights as both workers and parents without any restriction and sexual discrimination in the labor market. But in reality 'free choice' has not been realized in our society. This study is based on the analysis of these issues in free choice - the concepts of liberty, equity and equality, the role of the state, financial efficiency and the status of women in the labor market. Based on the analysis of the issues in accordance with the criteria, I suggest some policy recommendations: adequate and sufficient child care services, the introduction of univer sal child benefits and the expansion of public child care facilities.

  • The Study to verify the relations between the store choice behavior and the interior environmental image. the point of view is that the image of store affects the behavior of customers when they choose the store for shopping. The method used for this study is library survey for constructing the store choice model and the field survey for veryfying the model. The store choice behavior of customers occurs according to the procedure : environment exposure-development of cognitive structure-image developing by the emotional response-attitude decision- purchasing. The image of a store is one of the very important elements in marketing stragy. The group which showed the affirmative response to the emvironmental design aspects also showed the high affirmative response to the store image. The group which showed consistent response to the image of store and the image of him/herself showed more affirmative response to the environmental design aspects. Good image to a store affects affirmative attitude of customers and it consequently the store choice behavior

The components of perceived risk are uncertainty and consequence. There are seven types of perceived risk in purchasing houses. Those are financial risk, functional risk, social risk, psychological risk, physical risk, time risk and future opportunity lost risk. The empirical survey about comsumer's purchasing Public Apartment suggests : 1) In general, rspondents perceive relatively high risk in purchasig Public Apartment. 2) Of seven risk types, financial, functionalm, future opportunity lost, time, and social risk correlate highest with overall perceived risk and explain the variance of it. 3) Physical and psychological risks don't correlate significantly with overall perceived risk. From the findings in empirical analysis, consumers are recommended to device riskreduction activities in purchasing Public Apartment. 1. Active information search is needed in purchasing Public Apartment in order to reduce overall perceived risk. 2. Housing concept should change from ownership to rental thinking. 3.
