Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) is designed to provide network-based mobility management support to an MN without any involvement of the MN in the mobility related signalling, hence, the proxy mobility entity performs all related signalling on behalf of the MN. The new principal functional entities of PMIPv6 are the local mobility anchor (LMA) and the mobile access gateway (MAG). In PMIPv6, all the data traffic sent from the MN gets routed to the LMA through a tunnel between the LMA and the MAG, but it still has the single point of failure (SPOF) and bottleneck state of traffic. To solve these problems, various approaches directed towards PMIPv6 performance improvements such as route optimization proposed. But these approaches add additional signalling to support MN's mobility, which incurs extra network overhead and still has difficult to apply to multiple-LMA networks. In this paper, we propose a improved route optimization in PMIPv6-based multiple-LMA networks. All LMA connected to the proxy internetworking gateway (PIG), which performs inter-domain distributed mobility control. And, each MAG keeps the information of all LMA in PMIPv6 domain, so it is possible to perform fast route optimization. Therefore, it supports route optimization without any additional signalling because the LMA receives the state information of route optimization from PIG.
Multicast service will be required to be an important form of communication without interruption to the delivery of multicast service in mobile networks increasing MNs. In this paper, we review current status of PMIPv6(Proxy Mobile IPv6) multicast listener support being standardized in the IETF and point out limitations of the current approach and we proposed a fast multicast handover procedure in inter domain PMIPv6 network of network-based mobility management. The proposed Fast multicast handover procedure in inter domain optimizes multicast management by using the context of the MNs. We evaluate the proposed fast multicast handover procedure compared to the based one through the developed analytical models and confirm that introduced fast multicast handover procedure provides the reduced service interruption time and total network overhead compared to the based one during handovers.

In this paper, we propose a new mobility management scheme, called i-FP(intelligent Fast PMIPv6). Our proposed i-FP scheme is addressed for solving the existing local mobility management problems from legacy frameworks. To move MN(Mobile Node) to other networks in one domain, i-FP employs three network entities which are extended from PMIPv6(Proxy Mobile IPv6), LMA(Local Mobility Anchor), MAG(Mobile Access Gateway) and MN. In i-FP, the three network entities can reduce the handover delay time of MNs. Also, i-FP uses an IP header swapping mechanism to avoid the traffic overhead and improve the throughput of network. To evaluate the performance of i-FP, we analyze our i-FP, HMIPv6(Hierarchical Mobile IPv6) and PMIPv6 which are legacy protocols of local mobility management in terms of various parameters. Finally, our i-FP scheme shows good performance(reduction of routing hops 10.2%, signaling costs 58.5% and handover delay 16.3%) than other network schemes for the total cost.

In mobile communication, there are various types of handoff for the support of all forms of mobility. Proxy mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) enables local network-based mobility management of a mobile node without any effect of mobility-related signaling. Recently, PMIPv6 has been considered for supporting mobility management in LTE/SAE-based mobile networks. To support seamless mobility in heterogeneous mobile networks, the overall cost of handoffs needs to be minimized and the procedure should be guaranteed to be secure. However, the reduction of the authentication cost has not been fully investigated to provide seamless connectivity when mobile users perform a handoff between the PMIPv6 domains. This paper proposes secure pre-authentication schemes, completing an authentication procedure before performing a handoff, for a fast handoff in PMIPv6. Analytic models have been used for measuring the authentication latency and for the overhead cost analysis. In addition to providing fast authentication, the proposed pre-authentication schemes can prevent threats such as replay attacks and key exposure.

Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) has received considerable attention between telecommunications and the Internet communities and does not require active participation of the Mobile Node (MN) by way of network-based mobility management. The PMIPv6 domain is studying establishment in progress to support extensively a number of MN by using a low handover latency. In this research, we are propose a novel 3S scheme for building Scalable and Secure and Seamless PMIPv6 domains. In the proposed scheme, all of Mobility Access Gateway (MAG) are acting as the Local Mobility Anchor (LMA) and composing a virtual ring with another MAG. General hashing is used in the efficient distribution-mapping between each MN and the MN's LMA of all MAGs. And, MAG and MN are authenticated using the symmetric key. Through mathematical analysis, we verifies the safety, scalability, and seamless service for 3S. Also, we're propose a handover procedure of 3S and show better than the existing schemes in terms of handover latency.

With the recent advancements in various wireless communication technologies, the importance of mobile multicasting is coming to the fore, in an effort to use network resources more efficiently. In the past, when various mobile IP-based multicast techniques were proposed, the focus was put on the costs needed for network delivery for providing multicast services, as well as on minimizing the multicast handover delay. For techniques using MIPv6 (Mobile IPv6), a host-based mobility management protocol, however, it is fundamentally difficult to resolve the problems of handover delay and tunnel convergence. To resolve these problems, a network-based mobility management protocol called PMIPv6 (Proxy Mobile IPv6) was standardized. Although performance is improved in PMIPv6 over MIPv6, it still suffers from the problems of handover delay and tunnel convergence. In this paper, to overcome these limitations, a technique called LFH (Low-cost and Fast Handoff) is proposed for fast and low-cost mobility management with multicasting support in PMIPv6 networks. To reduce the interactions between the complex multicast routing protocol and the multicast messages, a simplified proxy method called MLD (Multicast Listener Discovery) is implemented and modified. Furthermore, a TCR (Tunnel Combination and Reconstruction) algorithm was used in the multicast handover procedure within the LMA (Local Mobility Anchor) domain, as well as in the multicast handover procedure between domains, in order to overcome the problem of tunnel convergence. As a result, it was found that LFH has reduced multicast delay compared to other types of multicast techniques, and that it requires lower costs as well.

The Proxy Mobile IPv6 is a network-based localized mobility management protocol. In the PMIPv6, Mobile Nodes are topologically anchored at a Local Mobility Anchor, which forwards all data packets for registered Mobile Nodes. Since all data packets destined for the Mobile Nodes a1ways traverse the Mobile Nodes's Local Mobility Anchor, the LMA might be bottleneck and the end-to-end de1ay are increased. Therefore, in this paper, we proposed an enhanced Route Optimization scheme in Multiple Local Mobility Anchors environment. In order to rapid1y detect Route Optimization, we designed Domain Information Table in Mobility Access Gateway. Furthermore, we use Correspondent Binding Cache in Local Mobility Anchor to maintain Route Optimization information during Mobile Nodes's handover. To solve packet loss and reodering problems during handover, we propose a new buffering and forwarding scheme.

In next-generation wireless networks, provisioning of IP-based network architecture and seamless transmission services are very important issues for mobile nodes. For this reason, a mobility management mechanism to support global roaming is highly regarded. These technologies bring a broader life by using a global roaming account through the connection of multiple devices or technology to mobile users; they also provide real-time multimedia services. This paper presents a comprehensive performance analysis of fast handover for hierarchical mobile IPv6 (F-HMIPv6), hierarchical mobile IPv6 (HMIPv6), Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6), and fast Proxy Mobile IPv6 (FPMIPv6) using the fluid-flow model and random-walk model. As a result, the location update cost of the PMIPv6 and FPMIPv6 is better than that of HMIPv6 and F-HMIPv6. These results suggest that the network-based mobility management technology is superior to the hierarchical mobility management technology in the mobility environment.

PMIPv6(Proxy Mobile IPv6) is a network-based IP mobility management protocol, which can control the mobility without depending on the type of access system or the capability of mobile node. Combining it with SIP mobility, it can establish the route optimization effectively and ensure the terminal mobility and the session mobility. There are many literatures on PMIPv6-SIP in mobility management, but efficient performance analysis and mathematical modeling has not been standardized. For this, a new PMIPv6-SIP architecture is proposed to compare with Pure-SIP in terms of the handover delay and packet loss.
