The advancement of IT technology and the distribution of PC makes a change on the web contents expressions and user's experiments. The advanced web environment makes virtual web museum. We anticipate that demand of virtual web museum is likely to increase. However, most of studies on web museum are case studies about visual expression or graphic interface of virtual space. This paper will be considered about the functions of digital storytelling on web museum and try to develop an self-evaluation model which can evaluate the value of digital storytelling on web museum. The ultimate goal of this study is to verify the validity of the model to evaluate new storytelling of web museum and to classify the digital storytelling based on the evaluated results, with a view to presenting the direction of development by type. The results of this study may provide a reference of applying digital storytelling into web museum and also it can be a checklist for developing the user experience for navigating a web museum.
In case of a emergency situation or a natural disaster, a warning notification system is an essential tool to notify at-risk people in advance and provide them useful information to survive the event. Although some systems have been proposed such as emergency alert system using android, SMS, or P2P overlay network, these works mainly focus on a reliable message distribution methods. In this paper, we proposed a novel design and implementation of a personalized warning notification system to help inform not only the at-risk people but also their family and friends about the coming disaster as well as escape plan and survival information. The system consists of three main modules: the user selection module, the knowledge based message generator, and message distribution modules. The user selection module collects the list of people involved in the event and sorts them based on their level of involvement (their location, working position and social relationships). The knowledge based message generator provides each person with a personalized message that is concise and contains only the necessary information for the particular person based on their working position and their involvement in the event. The message distribution module will then find a best path for sending the personalized messages based on trustiness of locations since network failures may exist in a disaster event. Additionally, the system also have a comprehensive database and an interactive web interface for both user and system administrator. For evaluation, the system was implemented and demonstrated successfully with a building on fire scenario.
This study investigates the examples of memorials in which participants can communicate and interact. Memorials as an urban public space provide various information and experiences to the visitors. The purpose of this study is to investigate the types of participants' experience and the characteristics of memorial space. The 9 examples of the memorials are selected and analyzed by the experience type of participants. This study summarizes the characteristics of spatial representation of memorials as follow; first, the interactions and communications of participants are main considerations in designing memorials. This study defines three types of participants' experience in memorials as educational, emotional and daily urban experiences. Second, the memorial space providing educational experience has narrative characteristics which are explanatory, representational, hierarchical and figurative. Memorials represent historical events and individuals in figurative ways. Participants in memorials learn the event, mourn for the dead and cure the grief through walking the guided route. Third, the memorial space providing emotional experience is indeterminate and open-ended characteristics which are contemplative, symbolic, and abstractive. While participants try to find the way to walk through and understand the meaning of the abstract forms by themselves, they interface the event and the victims in private and individual ways. Fourth, the memorial space providing daily urban experience is the familiar urban facilities embedded remembrance such as memorial square, bridge and fountain. Symbolism of memorials and effectiveness of urban facilities are engaged into the memorial design. They have functional, participatory, interactive and recreational characteristics. People experience the memorials involuntarily and casually during their daily lives. The memorials with urban facilities can be related to the present and the future of the city as well as the past of the city.
Recent cloud infrastructures provide competitive performances and operation costs for many internet services through pay-per-use model. Particularly, object storages are highlighted, as they have unlimited file holding capacity and allow users to access the stored files anytime and anywhere. Several lines of research are based on cloud-backed file systems, which support traditional POSIX interface rather than RESTful APIs via HTTP. However, these existing file systems handle all files with uniform size backing objects. Consequently, the accesses to cloud object storages are likely to be inefficient. In our research, files are profiled according to characteristics, and appropriate backing unit sizes are determined. We experimentally verify that different backing unit sizes for the object storage improve the performance of cloud-backed file systems. In our comparative experiments with S3QL, our prototype cloud-backed file system shows faster performance by 18.6% on average.
The latest E-commerce sites provide personalized services to maximize user satisfaction for Internet user The collaborative filtering is an algorithm for personalized item real-time recommendation. Various supplementary methods are provided for improving the accuracy of prediction and performance. It is important to consider these two things simultaneously to implement a useful recommendation system. However, established studies on collaborative filtering technique deal only with the matter of accuracy improvement and overlook the matter of performance. This study considers representative attribute-neighborhood, recommendation textile set, and similarity grouping that are expected to improve performance to the recommendation agent system. Ultimately, this paper suggests empirical applications to verify the adequacy and the validity on this system with the development of Fashion Design Recommendation Agent System (FDRAS ).

In this paper we discuss the elements which must be considered for collaboration- aware application design and their effcets on user interfaces. Collaboration-aware applications have inter-user and user/system interaction features besides generic real-time distribution system features and this restricts the design freedom with the requirement of consistent user interfaces. Programmers, therefore, must provide uniform and logically consistent user interfaces to user and, for this end, they should consider main design features such as concurrency control algorithms, system topology and object replication scheme. Among the design factors concurrency control algorithms have relatively significant impact on user interfaces and we consider the impact of concurrency control agorithms along with that of thesystem to pologyand the objectreplication scheme. Coshed/SAS, a groupeditor, is given as an example of application of the factors.
There are many researches related to a simulated shooting training system for replacing the real military and police shooting training. In this paper, we propose the point of impact from a simulated shooting target based on image processing instead of using a sensor based approach. The point of impact is extracted by analyzing the image extracted from the camera on the muzzle of a gun. The final shooting result is calculated by mapping the target and the coordinates of the point of impact. The recognition system is divided into recognizing the projection zone, extracting the point of impact on the projection zone, and calculating the shooting result from the point of impact. We find the vertices of the projection zone after converting the captured image to the binary image and extract the point of impact in it. We present the extracting process step by step and provide experiments to validate the results. The experiments show that exact vertices of the projection area and the point of impact are found and a conversion result for the final result is shown on the interface.
Abstract Up to now, a lot of efforts have been made for the management of telecommunication networks and equipment, but less effort has been made for the realization of higher-layer service and business management. There are recently worldwide growing interests for applying CORBA technology for the realization of higher layer Telecommunication Management Network (TMN) management functions. In this paper, we compare the features of TMN and CORBA with respect to information model, and operational behavior. And then, we propose a platform architecture for the efficient integration of CORBA technology within TMN framework. Within platform architecture, GDMO/ASN.1 to IDL translator has been designed and implemented for translating TMN management information into CORBA IDL interface. The TMN/CORBA gateway is also designed for realization of the interaction translation specification of JIDM task force. The libraries and code generators have been designed and implemented in a modular fashion to provide the functional extensibility.
This paper introduces an implementation of the diagnosis software for CC-NUMA systems. The CC-NUMA architecture is composed of two or more SMP nodes installed with the specialized hardware to provide cache-coherent operation and the high-speed interconnection network to connect each node, it enables both the high performance and the high scalability. While the CC-NUMA system provides the single system image in the operating system aspect, it should be considered the multiple systems by the diagnostic software. Thus it is difficult to diagnose and manage CC-NUMA system using commercial administration software due to characteristics of the complicated architecture. The remote diagnosis and management are also required with a view to reduce Total Cost of Ownership. In this paper, we design diagnostic software to manage CC-NUMA server system, and propose its mechanism in client-server manner to support remote administration. Additionally, we use the Java-based user interface to enlarge an administrator's accessibility.
The context-awareness of mobile applications yields several issues for testing, since mobile applications should be able to be tested in any environment and under any contextual input. In previous studies of testing for Android applications as an event-driven system, many researchers have focused on using generated test cases considering only Graphical User Interface (GUI) events. However, it is difficult to find failures that could be detected when considering the changes in the context in which applications run. It is even more important to consider various contexts since the mobile applications adapt and use the new features and sensors of mobile devices. In this paper, we provide a method of systematically generating various executing contexts from permissions. By referring to the lists of permissions, the resources used by the applications for running Android applications can be easily inferred. To evaluate the efficiency of our testing method, we applied the method on two open source projects and showed that it contributes to improve the statement code coverage.
