This study operated a mentoring program for future librarians and analyzed its effectiveness. As a result, first, the final goals of mentees were much more focused and specific in comparison with their initial goals, and the types of objectives they set for themselves became more in depth and subdivided. Second, the employment performance of the mentoring program was measured by comparing with the employment rate of students who had not participated in mentoring programs, and found that the employment rate of students scheduled to graduate who participated in the mentoring program was 83.33%, which is very high. Third, we compared the mentoring semester grades with the grades before mentoring; students' average score was 3.75 before mentoring, while after mentoring their average score improved slightly to 3.84. However, it was revealed that improvement is necessary in terms of mentoring period length and amount of supervision.

This study attempts to analyse factors that influence the level of career decision for prospective librarians. To this end, an empirical study was conducted on the students from the department of Library & Information Science at universities located in Seoul, Gyeong Gi and Chung Cheong Areas. Exogenous variables included curriculum, career-related departmental activities, and librarian-related institutional factors. The result of analysis using the Structural Equation Model reveals that career-related departmental activities are preceding factors which affect the level of career decision and that personality types function as a modulator. This suggests that, in order to raise the career decision level, prospective librarians need to participate in career-related departmental activities, which make it easier to share information regarding career and thus enhance the level of career. Such career-related departmental activities include participating in job-oriented circles and career-consulting programs, communicating with seniors, and operating and joining career programs. Further organizational and institutional development is required : better curriculum, improved practical ability and qualifications as librarians. This study also discusses its limits and areas for future research.

Nowadays, librarians try to provide equal services and effective facilities to people with disabilities. According to this context, the current and prospective librarians should have a wide range of knowledges and skills that can identify and understand their patron's needs and information seeking behaviors through disability issues education. This study aims at presenting the advanced directions of the LIS education in order to enhance a librarian's experience and strengthen his/her hand on library services for people with disabilities. The result of the study suggests some directions on disability issues in LIS education in the future.

The research aims to develop a training program for prospective librarians in order to help them better prepared for library practicum. To achieve the purpose of the research, the research analyzes pre-librarians' expectation and needs of the pre-training program and designs a mock pre-training program for practicing library practicum effectively and efficiently. After running the mock pre-training program to library practicum participants in the department of Library and Information Science at H University, their satisfaction and feedback of the mock program are also assessed. On the basis of the findings from implementing the mock pre-training program, the research proposes the final contents of a pre-training program for preparing library practicum and the detailed methods for implementing the proposed pre-training program.
