The study is based on a two-year research study titled 'A study on the Development of the Programs for Housing Policy to support Multi-family Housing Remodeling in Korea'. The primary purpose of this two-year study was to recommend governmental program initiatives for supporting multi-family housing remodeling activities in Korea. As a part of this research study, this article was written based on the results from the two surveys regarding multi-family housing remodeling in the United States and Korea, and a focus group with housing researchers affiliated to the Joint Center for Housing Studies. Major research findings are presented as follows: First, there have been various types of supportive programs for single- and multi-family housing remodeling in the United States. Those have focused on lower income families than middle income families. Compared with the programs in the United States, the apartment remodeling in Korea has been focusing on small population of the multi-family housing owners. Apartment remodeling in Korea needs supportive programs for rental housing remodeling and the housing remodeling for low-incomes. Second, there have been various types of remodeling activities made in multi-family housing properties in the United States. Size of remodeling project also varied. Their remodeling activities were based on the long-term repairing plans initiated by professional apartment management groups. For making our multi-family housing properties more sustainable, we also need to have the long-term repairing plans. Third, the apartment property remodeling has been regarded as a substitute of reconstruction of apartment properties. However, remodeling should be regarded as one of the most efficient ways to extend the life-cycle of apartment buildings. Thus, benefits and executive plans of apartment remodeling should be studied by a professional research center under our governmental responsibilities as done in the United States.

The number of subscriber of digital pay TV service such as Digital Cable TV and IPTV is increasing from various kind of service provider world widely. These services require personal information of users to provide VOD(Video on Demand) and customized contents. Therefore, massive amount of personal information collected by service provider can cause social confusion such as leakage of privacy and property damage. This paper investigates whether broadcasting stations are providing enough notification for privacy policy and methodology of collecting private information in proper way. Furthermore, we analyze actual network traffic of IPTV service between user and service provider to suggest solution of privacy protection along with current status analysis.

Mobile node has to register its current location to Home Agent when it moves to another network while away from home. However, the registration procedure cannot be completed successfully when Home Agent is protected by the VPN gateway which guards MN's home network and discards the unauthorized packets incoming from outside as a lack of security association(SA) between the Care-of address and security policy of the home network so that the binding registration message without SA is discarded smoothly by the VPN gateway. This paper presents the authentication and key exchange scheme using the AAA infrastructure for a user in Internet to access the home network behind the VPN gateway. By defining the role of authentication and tunnel processing for each agent or relay entity, this paper presents the procedure to register the current location to its Home Agent with secure manner. Performance result shows cost improvement up to 40% comparing with existing scheme in terms of the packet loss cost, the property of mobility and traffic.

In this paper, we proposed the straight line determination method and the algorithm for 8 directions determination of straight line using the coordinate information and the property of trigonometric function. We conduct an experiment that is 8 hand gestures are carried out 100 times each, a total of 800 times. And the accuracy for the 8 derection determination algorithm is showed the diagonal direction to the left upper side shows the highest accuracy as 92%, and the direction to the left side, the diagonal direction to the right upper side and the diagonal direction to the right bottom side show the lowest accuracy as 82%. This method with coordinate information through image processing than the existing recognizer and the recognition through learning process is possible using a hand gesture recognition gesture.

Social network technology has been increasing interest in the big data service and development. However, the data stored in the distributed server and not on the central server technology is easy enough to find and extract. In this paper, we propose a big data management techniques to minimize the processing time of information you want from the content server and the management server that provides big data services. The proposed method is to link the in-group data, classified data and groups according to the type, feature, characteristic of big data and the attribute information applied to a hash chain. Further, the data generated to extract the stored data in the distributed server to record time for improving the data index information processing speed of the data classification of the multi-attribute information imparted to the data. As experimental result, The average seek time of the data through the number of cluster groups was increased an average of 14.6% and the data processing time through the number of keywords was reduced an average of 13%.

Global commerce is apparently here to bind Korean firms as well as Koreans. The advertising, buying and selling of goods and services recognizes no borders. As a result, enforcing territorially based trademark rights has become ever more challenging. Remote trademark owners who peacefully coexisted in a time before the internet and increasing globalism are now bumping heads. The internet also has made it easier for unscrupulous operators to deceive consumers and divert customers from established businesses by misappropriating trademarks on web-sites and in domain names. U.S. federal courts have been willing to help American businesses halt trademark infringements that reaches outside the United States. This is particularly true for e-business, via the internet, and the trend toward enforcement seems to be in favor of the trademark owner. This article discusses this trend as well as the extraterritorial enforcement of trademark rights by U.S. courts under the Lanham Act. It also offers suggestions for protecting valuable trademark rights worldwide. This paper will contribute to global Korean firms and Koreans who carefully read arguments in this valuable literature.

The emergence of the internet causes the electronic trade of movies, music, software and other digital content products to be an eminent share of international commerce. The purpose of this study is to examine legal issues of electronic commerce chapters of the Korea US FTA and tasks of the digital contents industry. Results of the study show that several implications based on the industry are offered. The Korean government needs to do the following: settle of classification issue in digital contents, settle of customs issue in digital contents, settle of issue of non-discrimination principle in digital contents, settle of exclusion issue in audiovisual services, improve of global competitiveness, unify of export support system, establish of overseas expansion strategy in genre and regional contents, train of global experts and protect of intellectual property in digital contents.

The purpose of this study is to provide a method to visualize the sound data to the three-dimensional image. The visualization of the sound data is performed according to the algorithm set after production of the text-based script that form the channel range of the sound data. The algorithm consists of a total of five levels, including setting sound channel range, setting picture frame for sound visualization, setting 3D image unit's property, extracting channel range of sound data and sound visualization, 3D visualization is performed with at least an operation signal input by the input device such as a mouse. With the sound files with the amount an animator can not finish in the normal way, 3D visualization method proposed in this study was highlighted that the low-cost, highly efficient way to produce creative artistic image by comparing the working time the animator with a study presented method and time for work. Future research will be the real-time visualization method of the sound data in a way that is going through a rendering process in the game engine.

The dominant perspective on institutional change of the GRI is the environment-dependence. GRI's institutions are, however, prone to change due to the endogenous factors. Therefore, we need a dynamic alternative model to analyze the interaction between the exogenous and endogenous factors around the GRI's institutions. In this paper, authors examined the changes in GRI's funding system. The results were verified in the layering which is a one of the dynamic institutional change forms. Owing to the interaction between the exogenous and endogenous factors, institutional reform's layers of the institution funding expansion have been continuously accumulated in order to modify the Project-Based System(PBS). Eventually expansion layers of the institution funding have grown more quickly than the Project-Based System(PBS), as a result, GRI's funding system has been changing centered on the Block funding.

In recent years, increasing the variety of disasters and accidents that accompany large-scale damage. Disasters are accidents with uncertainty and have a direct impact on people's lives, safety and property protection. Therefore, it is necessary to establish and operate safety management systems such as prevention, response, and recovery for various disasters. Therefore, in this paper, a real-time disaster safety management solution in a smart environment was designed to systematically respond to disaster accidents. To this end, 1: 1 or 1: N situation propagation was performed to the situation room, related organizations, and experts through smart devices. Through this, the solution was configured to respond quickly and appropriately through multi-party information sharing and communication. In other words, we designed a solution that applied functions such as real-time and multi-party HD video transmission, mobile-type report management, voice / text situation propagation, location information sharing, recording and history management, and security.
