Location Positioning is a major technology for ubiquitous computing. Recently the research on Location Positioning using UWB is on going. In order to construct an in-door location network, synchronization of base stations is very important. NTP is Popularly used as clock synchronization protocol ranging from LAN to WAN. Also Master-Slave scheme is the simplest method to synchronize in-door network. We compare and analyze NTP and Master-Slave schemes according to the statistical channel model for indoor multipath propagation environment. In this paper, error ranges are calculated at various circumstances that in-door network expands from one primary base station into several base stations. We compared the correctness of NTP and Master-Slave synchronization methods. NTP is more reasonable synchronization protocol in in-door environment.

In this paper, we proposed receiver structure based on an iterative turbo equalization to cope with phase difference between two sensors in MIMO underwater communication channel. In a space-time coded system, it is often assumed that there are no phase errors among the multiple transmitter and receiver chains. In this paper, we have studied the effect of the phase errors between different transmit sensors and different propagation paths in the environment of MIMO underwater communication system, and have shown through BER performance by computer simulations that the bit-error-rate performance can be severely degraded. A decision-directed estimation and compensation algorithm has been proposed to minimize their effects on the system performance. In this paper, we investigate the phase differences and their effects on multiple-input and multiple-output systems, and propose a compensation algorithm for underwater channel model to minimize their effects.

Wireless transmission system using the multipath channel is affected ISI due to the delay spread. So we use a decision feedback equalizer which consist of decision part and feedback filter for remove the ISI effectively. In this paper, we propose a improved adaptive decision feedback equalizer to mitigate ISI effectively. The proposed adaptive decision feedback equalizer is construct by using soft decision device and hierarchical feedback filter based on MMSE sub-optimal equalizer using the LMS algorithm. Soft decision device mitigate the error propagation in feedback filter by incorrectly detected decision symbol and feedback filter which is divided two step independently mitigate the ISI by using a adaptive algorithm. As a result this structure shows better performance than conventional decision feedback equalizer by mitigating the error propagation in filter cause incorrectly detecting symbol. and we get the MSE more rapidly by using larger step-size due to reduce the number of feedback filter tap. In computer simulation, we compare the bit error rate performance of proposed decision feedback equalizer with conventional one on the S-V channel model for UWB system.
This paper analytically evaluates the FEC(Forward Error Correction) symbol size's effect on the performance and energy consumption of 802.11 protocol with the block FEC algorithm over WSN(Wireless Sensor Network). Since the basic recovery unit of block FEC algorithms is symbols not bits, the FEC symbol size affects the packet correction rate even with the same amount of FEC check bits over a given WSN channel. Precisely, when the same amount of FEC check bits are allocated, the small-size symbols are effective over channels with frequent short bursts of propagation errors while the large ones are good at remedying the long rare bursts. To estimate the effect of the FEC symbol site, the paper at first models the WSN channel with Gilbert model based on real packet traces collected over TIP50CM sensor nodes and measures the energy consumed for encoding and decoding the RS (Reed-Solomon) code with various symbol sizes. Based on the WSN channel model and each RS code's energy expenditure, it analytically calculates the transmission efficiency and power consumption of 802.11 equipped with RS code. The computational analysis combined with real experimental data shows that the RS symbol size makes a difference of up to 4.2% in the transmission efficiency and 35% in energy consumption even with the same amount of FEC check bits.
For the analysis of a two-phase flow, the interaction between two phases such as the interfacial momentum or heat transfer is proportional to the interfacial area. So the interfacial area concentration (IAC) is one of the most important parameters governing the behavior of each phase. This study focuses on the development of a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code for investigating a boiling flow with a one-group IAC transport equation. It was based on the two-fluid model and governing equations were calculated by SMAC algorithm. For checking the robustness of the developed code, the experiment of a subcooled boiling in a vertical annulus channel was analyzed to validate the capability of the IAC transport equation. As the results, the developed code was confirmed to have the capability in predicting multi-dimensional phenomena of vapor generation and propagation in a subcooled boiling.
Anatahan Volcano in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) erupted for the first time in recorded history on 10 May 2003. The underwater acoustic records of earthquakes, explosions, and tremor produced during the eruption were recorded on a sound-channel hydrophone deployed in February 2003. Acoustic propagation models show the seismic to acoustic conversion at Anatahan is particularly efficient, aided by the slope of the seamount toward the hydrophone. The hydrophone records confirm the onset of earthquake activity at 01:53Z on 10 May, as well as the onset (at ${\~}$06:20Z) of continuous, low-frequency (5-40 Hz) acoustic energy that is likely volcanic tremor related to magma intrusion. The hydrophone recorded a total of 458 earthquakes associated with the eruption. To predict the character of acoustic signals generated from Anatahan, we developed a moment-tensor representation of a volcano-seismic source that is governed by the geometry of the source and the physical properties of the magma. A buried magmatic pipe model was adopted, and numerically modeling source parameters such as the pipe radius and magma viscosity enable us to grasp the inward nature of Anatahan Volcano.
We presented a channel model for the inter vehicle radio link including the reflection from the road surface, side road vehicle and concrete wall. Then we theoretically derived the path loss and delay profile characteristics using the Ray tracing method efficiently analyzing millimeter wave or optic wave. Finally, we shown the improvement of propagation characteristics by diversity techniques, BCH coding and convolution coding techniques. At the result, MRC diversity techniques and BCH coding can't obtained PER = $10^{-6}$ which is considered to be data service criterion. But, we knew that Packet Error Rate Characteristic can obtained PER = $10^{-6}$, which is considered to be data service criterion, when convolution coding scheme are adopted in Rician fading.
In code-division multiple-access (CDMA) systems with soft handoff, mobile station (MS) within soft handoff region can use multiple radio channels and receive their signals from multiple base stations (BSs) simultaneously. In this paper, the effects of soft handoff region ratio (SHRR) on reverse link of a CDMA cellular system are analytically investigated. In order to analyze the network performance and quality of service (QoS) perceived by users more realistically, both the soft capacity increasing factor and the traffic load variation affected by SHRR are jointly considered and a two-dimensional continuous time Markov chain (CTMC) model is built. In the numerical example, it is observed that the optimal guard channel exists according the variations of the traffic load and propagation conditions when the proper value of SHRR is determined.

In non-geostationary orbit(NGSO) satellite communication links, satellite's elevation angle at terminal is changed continuously because of the satellite movement relative to earth surface. Therefore the characteristics of the fade-effected signal received by a terminal from a NGSO satellite is also varied continuously even if the terminal is operated at fixed location. In this paper, we determine a general statistic model for the fading characteristics over NGSO satellite communication links and set up the parameters of the fading model in terms of the elevation angle according to various propagation environment and find the parameter values using the data of fading margin for commercial NGSO mobile satellite communication systems. And the fading charateristics for each environment are analyzed using this model. These results can be applied to develop the compensation algorithm and to analyze the performance of the transmission schemes for NGSO mobile satellite communication systems.

The use of high frequency band, broad band and MIMO antenna is expected in the next generation mobile communication system. By the rapid increase of demand for wireless communications and the explosive increase of the mobile communication services, researches for optimization of next-generation mobile communication system are required. In the existing MIMO channel models, propagation-environments are commonly classified into urban, suburban, rural area, etc. However such approaches can have drawbacks in that many different morphologies may exist even in the urban area, for example. In this paper, we introduced path morphology concept, and proposed the method of morphology classification considering the building height, density, etc. Delay spread(DS), angular spread(AS) of AoD and AoA analyzed for each environment using the ray tracing technique. Based on the analysis, a MIMO channel model appropriate in domestic environment was suggested.
