  • A diffraction limited optical system for head mounted displays (HMDs) was designed. This optical system consists of four modules, including 1:5 mm and 5:30 mm beam expanders, polarization grating-polarization conversion system (PG-PCS) and refractive/diffractive projection optical module. The PG-PCS module transforms the unpolarized Gaussian beam to a linearly polarized beam and it simultaneously homogenizes the spatial intensity profile. The optical projector module has a $30^{\circ}$ field of view, a 22 mm eye relief, and a 10 mm exit pupil diameter with a compact structure. Common acrylic materials were utilized in the optical design process; therefore, the final optical system was lightweight. The whole optical system is suitable for a 0.7 inch liquid crystal on silicon microdisplay (LCOS) with HDTV resolution ($1920{\times}1080$) and $8.0{\mu}m$ pixel pitch.

  • IASL(iodo acetamide) and MSL(maleimide) disordered the orderly helix arrangement of myosin in the rest state of spin level. Especially the effect of IASL was great. Equatorial refiection(10,11) change inferred that myosin head was moved to the vicinity of actin filament by spin level. The intensity change of 143${\AA}$ and 72${\AA}$ could offer information of the mass projection of population of myosin heads along the :filament axis. The slope of intensity profile of the mass projection of 143${\AA}$ and reflection of IASL is appeared and that of MSL is appeared sharply. The decrease of 215${\AA}$ reflection intensity is appeared the periodical characteristic of 143${\AA}$ reflection by spin label. The raise of MSL actin reflection at 51${\AA}$ and 59${\AA}$ in the actin reflection change refers that the shifted myosin head binds a certain actin or changes an actin structure by spin label effect. Because iodo acetamide has a tendency to decease the actin reflection, actin dose not bind myosin head. From this result, we could conclude that LASL and MSL are spin labeled on SH of myosin head and disordered the helix arrangement of actin.

  • IASL(iodo acetamide spin label) and MSL(maleimide spin label) disordered the orderly helix arrangement of myosin in the rest state of spin level. Especially the effect of IASL was great. The muscle was isometrically tetanized with three trains of 3ms pulses every 50ms between $5^{\circ}C$ with $25^{\circ}C$. Equatorial reflection change inferred that myosin head was moved to the vicinity of actin filament by spin level. The intensity change of $143{\AA}$ and $72{\AA}$ could offer information of the mass projection of population of myosin head along the filament axis. The slope of intensity profile of the mass projection of $143{\AA}$ and reflection of IASL is appeared and that of MSL is appeared sharply. The decrease of $215{\AA}$ reflection intensity the periodical character of $143{\AA}$ reflection by spin label. The raise of MSL actin reflection at $51{\AA}$ and $59{\AA}$ in the actin reflection change refers that the shifted myosin head binds a certain actin or changes an actin structure by spin label effect. • The purpose of this study was to verify the usefulness of kinetic House- Tree- Person drawing as a diagnostic measure for the degree of self-differentiation, which is an essential part of college students' development. Participants for the study were four hundred thirty five(272 male and 163 female) university freshmen enrolled in 4-year colleges located in Pusan. The Participants completed a scale of self-differentiation and a Kinetic House- Tree-Person drawings test. The evaluation system for kinetic House-Tree-Person drawings was established based on the indexes of Buck(1948) and Bums(1972) and used exiting literatures as reference. The data were analyzed using means, standard deviations, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Scheffe's test. The results obtained from the study are as follows: First, the mean level of college students' self-differentiation was 2.81, which is about average. Some significant gender differences were found in the areas of self-intergration, family projection, and emotional separation. Male students scored higher on self-intergration, whereas female students score higher on family projection and emotional separation. Second. self-differentiation was higher when the student drew a house with smoke coming out of the chimney, a single-story house with flat roof, or with detailed description of curtains, roof and roof tiles. Third, self-differentiation seemed to be higher when branches and fruits were included, when there was no expression of roots, when large crowns and branch openings were presented, and when no slant lines or base lines appeared. Forth, self-differentiation showed ㅁ higher level when the portrait shows eyes, mouth and neck without omission, when it included the whole body instead of face only, and when there was no person with just a profile, a back, or with a stiff posture, and when there was no weak and thin lines. Individuality also marked higher if a person was in motion and than one person was added. Finally, self-differentiation showed significant difference according to the overall harmony of the drawing, ordering of contents, hand pressure, the kind and shape of tree, and presence of other persons. The more harmonious the picture was, and the more family members are added, the higher the level of self-differentiation was.

  • This paper presents the Projection Moire method using a line scan camera. The high resolution feature of a line scan camera makes it possible to scan an image quickly, thus enabling a much quicker 3D profile. This method uses a high resolution line scan camera making it possible to scan an image at high speed simultaneously measuring the 3D profile of a large FOV. When using a high resolution scan camera, a full FOV is scanned, thus requiring just one movement of a projection grating. As a result, the number of grating movements is reduced drastically. The end result is a faster and more accurate 3D measurement. Moving the grating too quickly causes vibration in the imaging system, which will normally be required to apply a stitching technique when using an area scan camera. However the technique is not required when using a line scan camera. Compared with the previous techniques, it has the advantages of simple hardware without moving mechanical parts - single exposure for obtaining three-dimensional information. A method using a high resolution line scan camera can be used in mass production to measure the bump height of wafers or the bump height of package substrates.

  • Objective: To investigate the effects of frontal facial type (FFT) and sex on preferred chin projection (CP) in three-dimensional (3D) facial images. Methods: Six 3D facial images were acquired using a 3D facial scanner (euryprosopic [Eury-FFT], mesoprosopic [Meso-FFT], and leptoprosopic [Lepto-FFT] for each sex). After normal CP in each 3D facial image was set to $10^{\circ}$ of the facial profile angle (glabella-subnasale-pogonion), CPs were morphed by gradations of $2^{\circ}$ from normal (moderately protrusive [$6^{\circ}$], slightly protrusive [$8^{\circ}$], slightly retrusive [$12^{\circ}$], and moderately retrusive [$14^{\circ}$]). Seventy-five dental students (48 men and 27 women) were asked to rate the CPs ($6^{\circ}$, $8^{\circ}$, $10^{\circ}$, $12^{\circ}$, and $14^{\circ}$) from the most to least preferred in each 3D image. Statistical analyses included the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Kruskal-Wallis test, and Bonferroni correction. Results: No significant difference was observed in the distribution of preferred CP in the same FFT between male and female evaluators. In Meso-FFT, the normal CP was the most preferred without any sex difference. However, in Eury-FFT, the slightly protrusive CP was favored in male 3D images, but the normal CP was preferred in female 3D images. In Lepto-FFT, the normal CP was favored in male 3D images, whereas the slightly retrusive CP was favored in female 3D images. The mean preferred CP angle differed significantly according to FFT (Eury-FFT: male, $8.7^{\circ}$, female, $9.9^{\circ}$; Meso-FFT: male, $9.8^{\circ}$, female, $10.7^{\circ}$; Lepto-FFT: male, $10.8^{\circ}$, female, $11.4^{\circ}$; p < 0.001). Conclusions: Our findings might serve as guidelines for setting the preferred CP according to FFT and sex.

  • Character recognition system consists of four step; text localization, text segmentation, character segmentation, and recognition. The character segmentation is very important and difficult because of noise, illumination, and so on. For high recognition rates of the system, it is necessary to take good performance of character segmentation algorithm. Many algorithms for character segmentation have been developed up to now, and many people have been recently making researches in segmentation of touching or overlapping character. Most of algorithms cannot apply to the text regions of management number marked on the slab in steel image, because the text regions are irregular such as touching character by strong illumination and by trouble of nozzle in marking machine, and loss of character. It is difficult to gain high success rate in various cases. This paper describes a new algorithm of character segmentation to recognize slab management number marked on the slab in the steel image. It is very important that pre-processing step is to convert gray image to binary image without loss of character and touching character. In this binary image, non-touching characters are simply separated by using vertical projection profile. For separating touching characters, after we use combined profile to find candidate points of boundary, decide real character boundary by using method based on recognition. In recognition step, we remove noise of character images, then recognize respective character images. In this paper, the proposed algorithm is effective for character segmentation and recognition of various text regions on the slab in steel image.
