The Scope and Relationship of Project Management and Systems Engineering Management (프로젝트 관리(PM)와 시스템엔지니어링 관리(SEM)의 범위 및 관계)

  • Put Abstract text here. Recently, the Korea industry need systems engineering technology more than yesterday. The systems engineering management function is needed to use the systems engineering engine process effectively. The systems engineering management function is overlapped a lot with project management function and has vague interface. The project management and systems engineering are two independent disciplines. So there are few references which address the scope and relationships clearly between systems engineering management and project management. This paper suggest the scope and relationships between systems engineering management and project management and revise the PMP and SEMP structure of Blanchard and Fabrycky. Followings are the key concept of this paper presenting. The project management(PM) composed of technical management and non-technical management. The technical management scope is same with systems engineering management. The non-technical management scope is composed of parts of enterprise support processes.

  • Recently construction enterprises involves more occurred with increase of size and complxity of construction works. Risk management is one of the key project management process. Numerous tools are available to support the various phases of the risk management process. We present the results of a study designed to identify the tools that are most widely used and those that are associated with successful project management in general, and in effective project risk management in particular. The study is based on a questionnaire administered to a sample of project managers from construction enterprises. The response data was analyzed in order to find which tools are mon likely to be used in the those organizations that report better project management performance and in those that value the contribution of risk management processes.

  • A number of urban renewal projects are currently being implemented around the world. Current project management tools are limited in effectively dealing with numerous issues regarding management of these projects (e.g., simultaneous execution of multiple projects). As an effort to address this deficiency, an Intelligent Program Management Information System (i-PgMIS) was developed for effective management of urban renewal projects. The i-PgMIS is a web-based system consisting of various modules including cost management, schedule management, risk management, change management, eco-value engineering (EVE) and so on. Based on the recognition of increasing awareness of creating sustainable built environment, this paper focuses on the EVE module that can support eco-value analysis at program-level management. The EVE module is expected to enhance value and sustainability of construction processes throughout the whole 'program' lifecycle and further to support program feasibility study based on life cycle costing.

  • This paper has explored when implementing SW development project of the IT service corporations, what factors affect its productivity in SW development methodology. The importance of the AHP analysis surveyed from the experts in IT service companies and related committee, was shown in the order of the following processes : 1) Deployment process 2) Management process 3) Establishment process. It is measured the methodology levels of establishment, deployment and management in each project using the survey results collected from project execution members and analyzed the productivity of projects that have been executed within 2 years. Using project methodology level, productivity correlation analysis, and regression analysis, this study confirms that the methodology deployment level brings positive effects significantly to SW development productivity. The significance of this study would be not only to research and analyze SW development productivity using the real project execution data but also to underline the necessities and the importance of steady research, deployment and support for SW development productivity improvement.

  • Project plan and control is a highly skilled task which is vital for business success, and Project control systems are important for successful project execution. To support construction process management effectively, an integrated cost and schedule control function is required to collect quality data in a timely manner and to provide quality historical data for future planning of new projects. In Korea construction industry, the development and implementation cases of a project control system which to efficiently support construction project planning and controlling processes, have been increased to ensure a project success and the profitability of a construction company. To contribute to improving practical effectiveness of a project control system, the paper reviewed and analyzed the current trends and functional features of current project control systems. And it also described the pending issues and their solutions faced on previous project control systems.

  • Recently, the construction industry is getting more complex and sophisticated having the characteristics of a mega project. Mega project pursues a value that can't be gained with an approach of seeing a project as just a simple sum of different parts but a mutual combination. However, the current manuals can't fulfill the needs for supporting, therefore, need a tool to support the decision making and an IETM is expected to take this role. Despite the a lot of expected advantages of IETM, it is still difficult to apply because of the frequent changes of information of detailed process and its complexity. In this research, as part of developing an IETM, we aim to propose a system frame which is based on the analysis of processes of a project. It is basic part of IETM to give information to users and IETM consists of normal mode that offers general information about the urban regeneration project and user-specified mode that gives classified and reorganized information to user. For supporting these functions, IETM should be stored in a form that can classify the information about urban regeneration project and be tagged with meaningful tags. Moreover IETM developers have to consider the interoperability of IETM because it ultimately should be coordinated with overall Project Management System like an iPMIS. We used XML for solution of interoperability because it stores information as just text-file that doesn't need a special form.

  • Recently clients requirements and social requirements are complex and large sized in construction projects. Futhermore, processes and steps are more complexed than before. Unsuitable reflection of clients brings mistaken opinions. A phase of middle change makes delay and change. It brings problems of waste expense and time. 80, first stage of planning and schematic design processes have to reflect of clients opinion actively. by increasing of constructions project competitiveness. Recently, BIM(Building Information Modeling is being researched frequently. Through visualization of information proceed step by step and it helps cognition of adapting information. 80, this paper finds and suggests solution of reflecting clients opinion and requirements and non professional clients and positively support of client participation watching based on BIM.

  • There are rural development policy for creating liveable rural. The support structure of the capacity phase of the Master Plan of Comprehensive Rural Village Development Project would that one. The support structure of the capacity phase has implied the assumption that the accumulated capacity of the village to the previous step will have a significant impact on the business to the next level. Rural development should be understood that simple: rather than for business applications, processes community is going to build capacity through continuous learning and practice. Its accumulated capacity should be possible to predict and then steps must be developed continuously for a long time, looking at the previous phase. Thus, according to the support structure of the capacity phase, it should be applied a causal relationship between the front and rear phase.

  • Muan Enterprise City is a mega-project that has an investment worth up to $3 billion only in the construction of infrastructure. The project's success will largely depend on the success of its construction management. This study sets out to establish a construction management plan for Muan Enterprise City by defining the core objectives and organizational structure and its supporting system. Project outline and core objectives were analyzed, and necessity of construction management and processes evaluated. Based on this analysis, implementation strategy for the achievement of project goals was defined and developed, and organizational structure and its support system to execute established. This study strives to support the project's construction management being carried out under proper planning and possibly set an example for construct ion management of mega-structures in the future.
