Development of a Composite Revenue Sharing-Quantity Flexibility Contract

  • In supply chain management, the supply contract can induce collaboration and coordination among the supply chain members in order to optimize supply chain performance. Numerous supply contracts have been examined; however, some difficulties related to the application of these contracts still occur. One of the solutions is to apply the composite supply contract which can assist in the supply chain coordination. This research examines the composite contract of the revenue sharing and quantity flexibility contracts in a two-stage supply chain, which comprises a retailer and a supplier. In this research, a mathematical model of the composite contract is developed; then, the applicability of the proposed composite contract is examined by investigating its capability in terms of supply chain coordination and profit allocation. In the numerical experiments, the composite revenue sharing-quantity flexibility contract showed that it is superior to both component contracts in terms of supply chain coordination and profit allocation among supply chain members.

  • Purpose - The study was designed to explore and examine the business relationships of the owners and the employees of Market Basket to analyze the implications of their recent turbulence and decisions. This article focused on two issues - business profit and labor union - to describe the uniqueness of this case. Design, methodology, data, and approach - This article, based on its purpose, applied all three approaches of case studies that are identified and described by Stake (1995), instrumental, intrinsic, and collective, to present the core nature of the issue and to improve and gain a clear understanding of this particular phenomenon. Results - The analysis of this case clearly indicates that seemingly dichotomous concepts of profit and employee welfare are not necessarily antithetical to each other Conclusions - The instant case of Market Basket serves as a testimonial for the rejection of the basic premises of corporate profits and labor unions. This case serves as a model and a practical example for many large retailers, especially the family operated retailers, and workers throughout the world.

샘플링 검사를 통한 경제적 공정 목표 값 결정에 관한 연구 (Determination of the Economical Target Value Through Sampling Inspectioni)

  • We consider the determinant of the most economical target value through the sampling inspection by two consecutive machines. The machine sequence is fixed as products have to be processed by machine 1 first and then by machine 2 next, In this paper we assume that if quality of a unit is lower than inspection lower specification limited then the goods is not accepted, otherwise it is accepted. And we assume that the quality characteristics is larger-the-better characteristics and its distribution is the normal distribution whose standard deviation is known. This paper ends up with an numerical example by using the total expected profit function model that consider the scales profits inspection costs and material costs. And we analyze the variation of the total expected profit by changing coefficients of the functions.

  • After IMF situation, the money market environment is changing rapidly. Therefore, many companies including financial institutions and many individual investors are concerned about forecasting the money market, and they make an effort to insure the various profit and hedge methods using derivatives like option, futures and swap. In this research, we developed a prototype of forecasting system for KOSPI 200 option, especially call option, trading using artificial neural networks(ANN), To avoid the overfitting problem and the problem involved int the choice of ANN structure and parameters, we employed the ANN ensemble approach. We conducted two types of simulation. One is conducted with the hold signals taken into account, and the other is conducted without hold signals. Even though our models show low accuracy for the sample set extracted from the data collected in the early stage of IMF situation, they perform better in terms of profit and stability than the model that uses only the theoretical price.

일선수협의 경영개선 자구노력 평가에 관한 실증분석 (An Empirical Analysis on Member Fisheries Cooperatives' Self-efforts for Managerial Improvement)

  • This study is to evaluate member fisheries cooperatives' self-effort for managerial improvement qualitatively and quantitatively. The impaired member cooperatives' got grant from National Federations of Fisheries Cooperatives for managerial improvement for 2003~2004 with establishment of MOU. This MOU describes a self-effort of memebr cooperatives' required fulfillment items for managerial improvement. From the various level of analyses, we conclude that per capita total return or ROA has direct and positive effect on the improvement of net capital ratio or profit ratio. However, other MOU items like human resource management or an investment increment did not have a correlation with it. In addition, an aggregate financial indicator, such as ROA, seems to have a positive effect on the improvement of net capital ratio or profit ratio for the group of well restructured member cooperatives, but does not for the bad performance group. This is because the good performance has leads to the improvement of net capital ratio for the well-restructured member cooperatives since there is little chance to have additional weakness. From this study we can check the proper selection of MOU items should be based on the analysis of its effect on the managerial improvement.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop BSC model of social enterprise. Performance analysis tool of BSC have been brought over from the business world, designed and created from the perspectives of profit-based businesses. The BSC is a strategic performance measurement and management tool designed for the private sector acting as a communication/information and learning system, to measure 'where we are now' and 'where to aim for next'. It prescribes a plan for translating 'vision' and 'strategy' into concrete action across four perspectives at different stages, depending on the business. These perspectives are 'financial', 'customer', 'internal processes' and 'learning and growth', each of which is connected by cause-and-effect relationships that reflect the firm's strategy. Social aims of social enterprise are to accomplish desired outcomes which are to employ vulnerable people and to provide social services. The measurement factors of financial perspective are stable funding, efficiency of budgeting, stakeholders' financial supports, and trade profit. The measurement factors of customer perspective are government, social service users, employees, local communities, sup plier, social activity company, and partnership with external organizations. The measurement factors of internal process perspective are organizational culture, organizational structure/management, internal/external communication, quality of products and services, information sharing. The measurement factors of learning and growth perspective are training and development, management participation, knowledge sharing, leadership of CEO and manager, and learning culture.

단일 상품을 판매하는 인터넷 상점과 전통적인 소매점 간의 경쟁에 대한 전략적 분석 (Strategic Analysis of the Competition between Internet Seller and Conventional Retailer Selling Single Commodity)

  • The proliferation of the internet technologies and applications has intensified business activities on the Internet. This study considered the price competition between two shopping channels, one on-line seller and the other traditional off-line retailer. Based on the Hotelling's linear market model, we derive the Nash and Stackelberg equilibria as a function of the cost parameters which represent the characteristics of the online and off-line channels. By analyzing the equilibrium solutions, the following significant findings were obtained. First, pricing by Stackelberg equilibrium always outperformed that of Nash equilibrium. However the value of the cost parameters played a crucial role in determining both channels' preferred position (price leader or follower). Second, the online seller could benefit more in terms of profit by lowering its efficiency when its efficiency belongs to a certain interval. Third, when the online seller's efficiency is low, lowering its delivery cost has no contribution to its profit. To benefit more from lowering its delivery cost, increasing its channel efficiency to a certain level should be preceded.

  • Since the early 1980s, the concept of relationship management in marketing area has gained its importance. Acquiring and retaining the most profitable customers are serious concerns of a company to perform more targeted marketing campaigns. For effective CRM (Customer Relationship Management), it is important to gather information on customer value. Many researches have been performed to calculate customer value based on CLV (Customer Lifetime Value). It, however, has some limitations. It is difficult to consider the churn of customers, because the previous prediction models have focused mainly on expected future cash flow derived from customers'past profit contribution. In this paper we suggest a CLV model considering past profit contribution, potential benefit, and churn probability of a customer. We also cover a framework for analyzing customer value and segmenting customers based on their value. Customer value is classified into three categories: current value, potential value and customer loyalty. Customers are segmented according to the three categories of customer value. A case study on calculating customer value of a wireless communication company will be illustrated.

  • In the past the pattern of business down-trend usually appeared in the form of, first, decrease in facility investment, then decrease in inventory level, followed by reduced level of consumption. But the pattern nowadays is becoming just the opposite, that is, first, consumption decrease, then inventory level increase, followed by restriction of facility investment. Also in the past, the greater effort was placed in strengthening of hardware areas through optimization and modernization of production means on the premise of sales. But lately software areas take most of the main effort to establish production mean with sales as its objective. Under these circumstances one of the real problems facing production activities today is the conflicting relationship between sales and production functions. This occurs due to differences of their view points. Then, in order to achieve maximum profit at the least cost, which is the ultimate objective of a production activity, the need arises to effectively coordinate sales demand and plant production capacity. For this purpose strong control means and function must be devised. In our case study example we illustrate a management technique for a combined planning function, of optimal coordination of product mixes utilizing a computerized linear programming model as control means of attaining maximum profit. It is hoped that this example help achieve some of corporate objectives.

  • 나고야의정서 또는 ABS의 목적은 생물유전자원의 이용에 따르는 대가를 실현시킴으로써 생물다양성을 유지하는데 있으나 아직까지 구체적으로 실현된 사례가 드물다. 이는 이익공유 방식을 둘러싼 논란과 생물유전자원 보유국과 이용국 또는 이용기업간의 정보 비대칭이 존재하기 때문이다. 본고에서는 주인-대리인 모형을 이용하여 정보 불확실성 하에서의 이익공유 방식을 분석하였다. 고정지출계약과 매출액 기준 로열티 방식 중 후자의 방식이 생물유전자원의 가치증대와 자원보전 측면에 우수한 인센티브 계약인 것으로 나타났다. 이는 향후 나고야의 정서 하에서 로열티 중심으로 상호협정조건 가이드라인이 마련될 필요가 있음을 시사한다.
