  • The aim of this paper is to extend the TOPSIS(Technique for Order Performance by Similarity to Ideal Solution) to the fuzzy environment for solving the new professor selection problem in a university. In order to achieve the goal, the rating of each candidate and the weight of each criterion are described by linguistic terms which can be expressed in trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. In this paper, a vertex method is proposed to calculate the distance between two trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. According to the concept of the TOPSIS, a closeness coefficient is defined to determine the ranking order of all candidates. This research derived; 1) 4 evaluation criteria(research results, education and research competency, personality, major suitability) for new professor selection, 2) the 5 step procedure of the proposed fuzzy TOPSIS method for the group decision, 3) priorities of 4 candidates in the new professor selection case. The results of this paper will be useful to practical expert who is interested in analyzing fuzzy data and its multi-criteria decision-making tool for personal selection problem in personal management. Finally, the theoretical and practical implications of the findings were discussed and the directions for future research were suggested.

  • The economic behavior of individuals' selection of particular kye and positions in a kye is based upon choice criteria. The selection of a kye or a position in a kye is not the same as an investor's portfolio selection. A kye member combines in varying degrees the characteristics of both a borrower and a lender of funds. In the following sections we shall first propose choice criteria for borrowers and lenders of funds, then we will try to test various hypotheses derived from the choice criteria by empirical data.

  • To successfully establish the ELID-grinding, it is important to properly select the electrolytic condition according to grinding conditions. Currently, the selection of electrolytic condition is mainly dependent on the operators experience, which is one of difficulties preventing the successful application of ELID technique. In this study, an in-process measurement system of the insulating layer using two gap sensors-a capacitance type and an eddy current type-are developed and the change of the thickness of insulating layer during ELID grinding is detected. Evaluation experiments show the possibility to control the electrolytic condition through the in-process measurement of the layer status.

  • I have investigated questionaire concerning to the view of worth and construction of consciousness as to boarding system collegian who will employed in fisheries and maritime industries. The results were as follows; It appeared 38.9% that most collegian had a firm subjectivity about enrolled motive, selection of department, they had selected department according to the neighborhood recommendation, own squired score rather than the adaption and prospection, also it was appeared 55% that they had not satisfied with attending to their college, accordingly, the effectiveness of education were demolished in such aspects. It was appeared 74.3% that the education of fisheries and maritime college were divided into theory and practice pertinently also, 77.1% that modulate both technical education and human like education but as a general rule, the education of ocean going liscensed officer was appeared 7.1% only so that, the reformation of the curriculum and contents of education would be needed. As to the relation between professors and collegian, it was appeared 38.4% that well understanding professor, 18.1% that well teaching professor, 13.3% that they having humanlish relation with professor, 30.6% that they will benefit to vocational selection. consequently, the professor have to brings up the harmony on dint of education and industries. The things which collegian think to be worth were 43.6%, intercourse of friend 30.3%, circle activity. 6.6% listening lecture, also, the leisure activity after school were 74.7% with friends. 16.4% alone. consequently, the professor has to guide of leisure activity after lesson. most collegian has a good relationship with their parent(91.6%) but the respond with bad relationship was 8.4%. The most serious agony which collegian think about is vocational problems (48.9%), the other sex problem(22.5%). The objects consult with agony was aquaintance(54.9%). The parent(5.1%), professors(2.3%), the collegian who did not consult with agony was 20.9%. The parents and the professor is not object consult with their agony. so that, the professors has to strengthen the education according to the human nature. As to job after graduation of such college, collegian who wish to be taken job on the fisheries and maritime industry were 50.5%, on the contrary, the collegian who wish to be taken a job no relation with his major subjects was 29.1% especially, the collegian who want to be embarked was 26.3% (fisheries 23.3%, maritime 30.5%). so that, we must adopt the counter plan for the globalization and effective investment on the fisheries and maritime college.

  • We review a multivariate version of Kendall's tau based on direction vectors of observations. And with this statistic we propose an analog of the forward variable selection method which selects a set of independent variables for further studies to build the eventual predicting model. This method does not assume the distributions of observations and the linear model and it is strong to the outliers with high asymptotic efficiencies relative to the parametric Pearson's correlation coefficient.

  • The administrative service in Chosun Dynasty relating to mathematics was carried out by the middle class(中人) mathematicians selected by the official selection examination(取才). They belong to HoJo(戶曹) department and their ranks are GyeSa(計士), ByulJe(別提), HunDo(訓導 = mathematics teacher), and GyoSu(敎授 = mathematics professor). We call them SanWon(算員). HunDo and GyoSu played very important role although their ranks are low, for they educate SanWon and manage the official selection examination. Using JuHakSeonSaengAn(籌學先生案, List of mathematics teachers) and JuHakIpGyukAn(籌學入格案, List of successful candidates in the official selection examination for mathematics), we investigate HunDo and GyoSu in Chosun Dynasty.

  • Let us assume that two different log-linear models are selected by various model selection methods. When these are non-hierarchical it is not easy to choose one of these models. In this paper the well-known Cox's statistic is applied to compare these non-hierarchical log-linear models. Since it is impossible to obtain the analytic solution about the problem we proposed a alternative method by extending Pesaran and pesaran's (1993) simulation approach. We find that the values of proposed test statistic and the estimates are very much stable with some empirical results.

  • Bayesian methods are considered for the multiple caputure-recapture data. Reference priors are developed for such model and sampling-based approach through Gibbs sampler is used for inference from posterior distributions. Furthermore approximate Bayes factors are obtained for model selection between trap and nontrap response models. Finally one methodology is implemented for a capture-recapture model in generated data and real data.

  • Recognizing the importance of the database query optimization design methods, we implemented mobile database with mobile program (J2ME) which is a useful database procedures. In doing so, we emphasize the logical query optimization which brings mobile database to performance improvement. The research implies that the suggested mobile program (J2ME) would contribute to the realization of the efficient mobile database as the related technology develops in the future.
