A Multistage Metaheuristic Scheduling Algorithm in LCD Module Lines Composed of Processes (세부공정으로 구성된 LCD 모듈 라인의 다중스테이지 메타휴리스틱 스케줄링 알고리즘 연구)

  • This paper develops a multistage scheduling algorithm for the module operation of the LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) production systems and tests the efficiency of the proposed algorithm. The module operation is a multistage form composed of multiple sub operations of processes, and each stage is consists of multiple lines with the same kinds of machines. This paper presents a mathematical modeling reflecting the constraints of the LCD module operation and develops a multistage scheduling algorithm based on tabu search metaheuristic approach. For this purpose, an production order is assigned to a line of the sub operations and a sequence of the assigned order is rearranged to draw an efficient schedule. Simulation experiments test performance measures and show the efficiency of the proposed algorithm.

  • This paper proposed the scheduling method for tire mixing processes using the genetic algorithm. The characteristics of tire mixing process have the manufacturing routing, operation machine and operation time by compound types. Therefore, the production scheduling has to consider characteristics of the tire mixing process. For the reflection of the characteristics, we reviewed tire mixing processes. Also, this paper introduces the genetic algorithm using the crossover and elitist preserving selection strategy. Fitness is measured by the makespan. The proposed genetic algorithm has been implemented and tested with two examples. Experimental results showed that the proposed algorithm is superior to conventional heuristic algorithm.

A Model for Integration of Process Planning and Scheduling with Outsourcing in Manufacturing Supply Chain (생산공급사슬에서의 아웃소싱을 고려한 공정계획 및 일정계획의 통합을 위한 모델)

  • An integrated process planning and scheduling model considering outsourcing in manufacturing supply chain is proposed in this paper. The process planning and scheduling considering outsourcing are actually interrelated and should be solved simultaneously. The proposed model considers the alternative process plans for job types, precedence constraints of job operations, due date of production, transportation time and production information for outsourcing. The integrated states include:(1) Operations sequencing, (2) Machine selection, (3) Scheduling with outsourcing under the due date. To solve the model, a heuristic approach based on genetic algorithm(GA) is developed. The proposed approach minimizes the makespan considering outsourcing and shows the best operation-sequences and schedule of all jobs.

Heuristic Approach for Lot Sizing and Scheduling Problem with State Dependent Setup Time

  • In this paper, we consider a new lot-sizing and scheduling problem (LSSP) that minimizes the sum of production cost, setup cost and inventory cost. Setup carry-over, setup overlapping, state dependent setup time as well as demand splitting are considered. For this LSSP, we develop a mixed integer programming (MIP) model, of which the size does not increase even if we divide a time period into a number of micro time periods. Also, we develop an efficient heuristic algorithm by combining a decomposition scheme with a local search procedure. Test results show that the developed heuristic algorithm finds a good quality (in practice, even better) feasible solution using far less computation time compared with the CPLEX, a competitive MIP solver.

  • This paper proposes a heuristic scheduling algorithm to satisfy the customer's due date in the production process under make to order environment. The goal is to achieve the machine scheduling in the transformer winding process, in which consists of parallel machines with different machine performances. The winding is important production process in the transformer manufacturing company. The efficiency of the winding machines is different according to the voltage capacity and the winding type. This paper introduces a heuristic approach in the transformer winding process where the objective function is to minimize the total tardiness of jobs over due dates. The numerical experiment is illustrated to evaluate the performance.

  • Changes in manufacturing system are those that occur during production and cause the systems to behave unpredictably. So scheduling problem in this dynamic Industrial environments is very complex. The main concept of this dissertation is to continuously monitor a manufacturing system status(Rate of Prior Job, Rate of Large Job, Rate of Shortest due date Job, Job Interval Time) and detect or predict a change so that scheduling system will react by modifying production schedule(dispaching rule) to lessen the effects of this change.

  • The application of GT results in the mass production effect to multi-product, small lot-sized production. Group scheduling, which is operations scheduling based on the GT concept, is analyzed in a multistage manufacturing system. But the research has been limited in independent setup time models. A heuristic algorithm has been developed to minimize the mean flow time when setup times are dependent to sequence of group in multistage. For evaluation of the heuristic algorithm, the solution of heuristic algorithm is compared with that of random scheduling. The result of comparison indicates that the proposed heuristic algorithm provides good solutions with relatively fewer computational effort.

  • Production scheduling has been one of the most critical issues in a manufacturing environment Job-shop scheduling problems(JSP) are well know from the standpoint of production planning and operations control in this research scheduling against due date is a measure of performance and the objective is minimizing total weighted tardiness This paper presents an idea of decomposition of the problem and shows robustmess of the schedule under various disturbances along with exact and approximation methods. The proposed method can indeed handle shop disturbances more effectively when compared with traditional and dynamic scheduling methods.

  • This paper considers an integrated scheduling problem for consecutive production and delivery stages in a two-stage supply chain. The Production is performed on a single facility and then the finished products are delivered to the customer by capacitated multiple vehicles. The objective of this paper is to obtain job sequencing and delivery batching minimizing the total cost of the associated WIP inventory, finished product inventory and delivery. The inventory cost is characterized by the sum of weighted flowtime. The delivery cost is proportional to the required number of delivery batches. Some polynomial-solvable cases are derived. For the general case, two efficient heuristic algorithms are suggested, and then the heuristics are tested through some numerical experiments.

  • This study is concerned with the scheduling problem for mixed-model assembly lines in Just-In-Time(JIT) production systems. The most important goal of the scheduling for the mixed-model assembly line in JIT production systems is to keep a constant rate of usage for every part used by the systems. In this study, we develop two heuristic algorithms able to keep a constant rate of usage for every part used by the systems in the single-level and the multi-level. In the single-level, the new algorithm generates sequence schedule by backward tracking and prevents the destruction of sequence schedule which is the weakest point of Miltenburg's algorithms. The new algorithm gives better results in total variations than the Miltenburg's algorithms. In the multi-level, the new algorithm extends the concept of the single-level algorithm and shows more efficient results in total variations than Miltenburg and Sinnamon's algorithms.
