Influence of Self-Construal on Choice of Overseas Travel Product Type

  • Purpose: Understanding which product types of overseas travel (free independent travel vs. package travel) consumers will choose is one of the key issues of marketing and consumer behavior in travel agency management. Prior studies on overseas travel type preferences mainly focused on comparing regional differences (e.g., Asian vs. Westerner, or Korean vs. Australian, or Korean vs. Japanese, or American, French, Italian vs. Japanese) influencing the choice of overseas travel type. Another researchers focused on comparing cultural differences (e.g., individualism vs. collectivism, or individualistic culture vs. collectivistic culture), subcultural difference (e.g., acculturation; Koreans living in Republic of Korea vs. Koreans living in Australia), travel lifestyle, and socio-demographics (e.g., age, gender, income level, education level, marital status, occupation etc.). However, there are few studies that identify individual psychological differences (i.e., individual psychological differences within the same culture) influencing the choice of overseas travel type. Self-construal is a psychological factors that greatly influences choice behavior. The purpose of this study was to examine the role of self-construal as an antecedent variable influencing choice of overseas travel product type. Research design, data and methodology: To achieve the purpose of this study, the questionnaire survey method was used. Self-construal items composed of independent self-construal items and interdependent self-construal items. Product types of overseas travel were free independent travel (FIT) type versus package travel type. In this study, the correlation coefficient between independent self-construal and interdependent self-construal was nonsignificant. It meant that the relationship between independent self-construal and interdependent self-construal was orthogonal. Therefore it was analyzed that independent self-construal and interdependent self-construal separately. Reliability analysis, factor analysis, and logistic regression analysis (controlling gender and age) was used as the data analysis method. Results: According to the results of this study, the stronger independent self-construal, the more preference for the free independent travel type rather than package travel, and the stronger interdependent self-construal, the more preference for the package travel type rather than free independent travel. Conclusions: Self-construal is an antecedent variable influencing the choice of travel type. Travel agencies must consider the consumer's self-construal (independent self-construal vs. interdependent self-construal) before planning and designing overseas travel products.

홈쇼핑 TV MD의 역할에 따른 제품선택에 관한 유형화 연구 (Typology Study about product-selectivity on role of Home-shopping TV MD)

  • 본 논문에서는 해당 실무자들의 홈쇼핑 TV MD의 역할에 따른 제품선택 주관성을 진단하고, 기능적인 측면 에서 세부적인 유형적 효과요인들을 짚어봄으로써 향후 개선과 방향성을 알아보고자 한다. 분석한 결과, 이 논문에서는 홈쇼핑 TV MD의 역할에 따른 제품선택에 관하여 해당 실무자들의 주관적 성향을 살펴보기 위해서 Q방법론을 이용하였다. 분석된 결과, 총 4가지의 유형, 즉, 제 1유형[(N=9) : 무관계형(No-relationship Type)], 제 2유형[(N=3) : 경험지향형(Experience-oriented Type)], 제 3유형[(N=5) : 능력중심형(Ability-focus Type)], 제 4유형[(N=1) : 추진중시형(Drive-importance Type)] 등으로 분류되었다. 결과적으로, 앞으로 계량적인 실증적 연구와 소비자들의 의견을 종합한 비교와 대안책이 추가되어 진다면, 홈쇼핑 TV MD의 역할에 따른 제품선택에 관한 정책방향에 보다 심도 있는 연구 결과가 제시될 수 있을 것으로 예상된다. 또한, 이러한 연구의 한계를 보완하는 후속연구가 지속적으로 진행되어지기를 기대한다.

An Identity Involving Product of Generalized Hypergeometric Series 2F2

  • A number of identities associated with the product of generalized hypergeometric series have been investigated. In this paper, we aim to establish an identity involving the product of the generalized hypergeometric series $_2F_2$. We do this using the generalized Kummer-type II transformation due to Rathie and Pogany and another identity due to Bailey. The result presented here, being general, can be reduced to a number of relatively simple identities involving the product of generalized hypergeometric series, some of which are observed to correspond to known ones.

A NOTE ON GCR-LIGHTLIKE WARPED PRODUCT SUBMANIFOLDS IN INDEFINITE KAEHLER MANIFOLDS

  • We prove the non-existence of warped product GCR-lightlike submanifolds of the type K × λ KT such that KT is a holomorphic submanifold and K is a totally real submanifold in an indefinite Kaehler manifold $\tilde{K}$. Further, the existence of GCR-lightlike warped product submanifolds of the type KT × λ K is obtained by establishing a characterization theorem in terms of the shape operator and the warping function in an indefinite Kaehler manifold. Consequently, we find some necessary and sufficient conditions for an isometrically immersed GCR-lightlike submanifold in an indefinite Kaehler manifold to be a GCR-lightlike warped product, in terms of the canonical structures f and ω. Moreover, we also derive a geometric estimate for the second fundamental form of GCR-lightlike warped product submanifolds, in terms of the Hessian of the warping function λ.

Impact of Image Type and Brand Familiarity on the Effectiveness of Bundling

  • Bundling has become a general promotion strategy in mobile shopping context. Previous research on bundling has mostly focused on bundle frame or price frame. Even though consumers are searching and purchasing the product in mobile channels, little research has investigated the effects of bundling in mobile shopping. The objectives of this study is to examine how different product image of bundle affects consumer's perception and purchase intention differently, and how brand familiarity moderate this influence. A sample of 140 subjects participated in a within-subjects experiment. A bundling composed of two different product image (a single product vs. bundled products) was evaluated by individuals. Brand familiarity (familiar brand vs. unfamiliar brand) were manipulated to test a set of hypotheses. We found that the effectiveness of bundling does not depend on the type of product image and brand familiarity. The findings of our study provide some implications for researchers and marketers. Although there have been studies on the effects of bundle framing on consumer behavior, we suggest new insights regarding bundling based on product image and mobile shopping context.

품패자산조성부분간적상호관계(品牌资产组成部分间的相互关系): 관우산품충류조절작용적탐색연구(关于产品种类调节作用的探索研究) (Relationships among Brand Equity Components: An Exploratory Study of the Moderating Role of Product Type)

  • 对于品牌资产的组成, 测量和管理的研究开始于David A.Aaker (1991) 和Kevin Lane Keller(1993). 最近, 很多的研究都集中于品牌资产的组成: 品牌意识, 质量预期, 产品形象和品牌忠诚度. 本文主要针对于这些成分间相互关系, 而且特别主意产品种类(实用或者享受)的调节作用. 基于以上所提及的关系所建立的模型可以参看图1. 本文的假设如下: 顾客的品牌意识对于顾客的忠诚度和品牌形象有积极的影响; 顾客的质量预期对于品牌忠诚度和品牌形象有积极的影响; 品牌形象对于品牌忠诚度有积极影响; 这些品牌资产成分间的关系可以被产品种类所调节. 具体说明就是, 对于实用性产品, 质量预期对于品牌忠诚度的作用会增强, 而对于享受产品品牌形象对于品牌忠诚度的作用会更强. 为了确定适用于本研究的产品, 58名首尔的大学生参加了前测. 结果是计算机被选择成为实用性产品, 而牛仔裤被选定成为享受产品. 每一种产品各选择了两个品牌: 三星和惠普以及李维斯和NIX. 在研究中, 首尔地区的237名大学生回答了问卷. 研究对象被划分为两组: 一组(121名)回答关于计算机的问卷, 其他的116名回答关于牛仔裤的问卷. 搜集的数据通过AMOS 7来验证可信度, 效度以及变量间的相互关系. 验证性因子分析证明本研究的模型是可以用来进一步研究的. 品牌资产成分间的相互关系也通过AMOS 7 来验证. 结果模型的结果展现在图2中. 质量预期对于品牌的形象有积极的影响, 但是品牌意识却没有. 但是品牌意识, 质量预期, 以及品牌形象都对品牌忠诚度有积极的影响. 并且, 这些关系受到产品种类的调节. 本文的研究结果可以增进我们对于品牌资产成分间相互关系的了解, 并且可以支撑对于品牌资产的测量. 本文也对于产品种类的作用进行了阐述. 在现实的营销管理中, 这些结果可以提供一些建议来有效保持品牌资产.

대학생들의 패션라이프스타일에 따른 웨어러블 스마트 텍스타일 제품의 관심 경향 연구 (Study on the Tendency of Interest of Wearable Textile Products according to College Students' Fashion Life Style)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the trends of product design for textile convergence wearable smart textile fashion products according to college students' fashion life style. In this study, we used information obtained from a questionnaire issued to 201 female college students who were 20 years old for the final analysis. The questionnaires were to classify female college students groups according to the fashion life style, to examine characteristics, needs and wants of each group. The survey on the tendency of wearable smart textiles consisted of 22 items about concept and type of smart clothing product, functional material and intelligent material, recognition, preference, purchase intention, purchase factor and brand preference tendency. A total of 201 samples were analyzed by factor analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA, crosstabs and $x^2-test$ using SPSS package program. 'brand preference oriented type was found to be interested in 'wearable' smart clothing product with monitoring function of bio-signal' and 'high functional fiber and textile product', but the credibility of 'smart clothes that can be worn and smart textile products to be useful in modern life' was low. 'fashionable individuality oriented' type showed interest in 'smart clothing and smart product', 'intelligent fiber' and 'wearable smart clothing product with monitoring function of bio-signal', but the preferences of 'light emitting fiber products' was low. 'practically purchasing-oriented' type was very interested in 'high-functional fiber and its textile products', but had inadequate knowledge on 'smart clothing and smart textile product' and showed low interest. Despite the fact that 'wearable smart clothing and smart textile products' are expensive, they were willing to purchase considering practicality and sophisticated style.

광고 메시지의 측면성 효과: -자아해석과 제품유형의 조절효과- (The Sidedness Effects of Advertising Message: Moderating Effect of Self-Construal and Product Type)

  • 제품에 대한 장점만 전달하는 일면 메시지는 소비자 구매행동에 영향을 주기 위해 과장하여 만들어 낸 것으로 부정적인 인지 반응이 형성될 수 있는 한편, 제품의 장단점을 함께 언급하는 양면 메시지는 광고메시지나 광고주에 대한 신뢰도에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 가능성이 크다. 본 연구는 광고 메시지의 유형에 따른 광고태도와 수용의도의 차이를 밝히고, 나아가 소비자의 자아해석과 제품유형의 조절효과를 분석하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 실증분석 결과, 양면 메시지의 광고효과가 일면 메시지에 비해 상대적으로 높은 것으로 조사되었다. 나아가, 메시지 유형이 광고태도와 메시지 수용의도에 미치는 영향에서 소비자 자아해석의 조절효과는 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 하지만 제품유형의 조절효과는 메시지 수용의도에 대해서만 유의한 것으로 조사되었다. 본 연구의 결론에는 연구결과의 요약과 시사점, 그리고 한계점을 제시하였다.

복수제품 인쇄광고물에서 광고위치 효과 (The Effect of Advertising Location in Printed Media Advertisement for Multiple Products)

  • 본 연구는 인쇄광고물에 있어서 복수의 제품(고가제품과 저가제품)을 대상으로 하는 인쇄광고물에서 효과적인 레이아웃을 도출하기 위한 연구를 시도하였다. 실증분석에서는 두 유형 제품에 대해 4종류의 인쇄광고물(좌/우 제시 2종류와 상/하 제시 2종류)을 디자인하여 고가제품과 저가제품의 배열에 대한 소비자 반응을 분석하였다: 디자인A(고가제품-좌측, 저가제품-우측), 디자인B(저가제품-좌측, 고가제품-우측), 디자인C(고가제품-상단, 저가제품-하단), 디자인D(저가제품-상단, 고가제품-하단). 분석결과에서는 고가제품의 경우는 대각선의 시작점에 제시되었을 때 소비자의 선택이 증가하고 저가제품의 경우에는 대각선의 끝점에 제시되었을 때 소비자의 선택이 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 고가제품과 저가제품을 동시에 광고하는 경우 고가제품의 광고물은 좌측 또는 상측에 배치하고 저가제품의 광고물은 우측 또는 하단에 배치함으로써 두 제품의 매출을 증가시킬 수 있음을 의미한다.

The Asymptotic Properties of Mean Residual Life Function on Left Truncated and Right Censoring Model

  • The estimation procedure of mean residual life function has been placed an important role in the study of survival analysis. In this paper, the product limit estimator on left truncated and right censoring model is proposed with asymptotic properties. Also, the small sample properties are investigated through the Monte Carlo study and the proposed product limit type estimator is compared with ordinary Kaplan-Meier type estimator.
