  • This paper describes the design of frequency down converting Mixer in the receiver to use compound semiconductor and CMOS product process. The basic theory and structure of frequency down converting Mixer is surveyed, and we design mixer circuit with active balun which use the compound semiconductor and CMOS process. This mixer convert a single ended signal to differential signal at input port of RF and LO instead of matching circuit to get dual band balanced mixer structure and characteristic broadband. This designed mixer has a conversion gain $-1{\sim}-6[dB]$ at $2{\sim}6[GHz]$ bandwidths. However, the simulation of the designed mixer with active balun has the result of a 7[dB] conversion gain for -2[dBm] LO input power and -10[dBm] input P1[dB] at 5.8[GHz].

  • The value of all goods and services produced in the economy divided by population has risen from $7.355 in 1998 to $12.646 in 2003. In other to maintain higher standard of lifestyle, people are 'hungry' for time. The idea of saving time and money by providing many different types of products altogether in one space was implemented with the advent of large warehouse style discount stores. These type of retailers grew in size and popularity during the 1990s and 2000s, causing a decline in sales in the old, traditional downtown markets. From ancient to twenty-first century, the role of the grocery store has been that of the social center of the community; a place of unity and interaction of people. The experience a customer engages in at a grocery store is comparable to that of a museum. Not only is the grocery store a unique, physical space to visit, but also a rich collection of fascination items. The layout of the interior space is meticulously planned for the efficiency of customer circulation and the success of product exhibition. Eye catching graphics and attractive lighting also add to the appeal of the grocery store's high style. Shoppers are no longer satisfied with just buying good products at a lower price. Shoppers prefer to spend time in an entertaining environment. The Hanaro Mart project in this study propose the idea of warehouse style discount stores which can satisfy all the demands of customers and their various activities. This study will open up unique dimensions of aesthetic expression and experience in the interior environments. Shopping for food is an unavoidable task. If food shopping is enjoyable, more people will spend more time at it.

  • thiathlophene (EDiTT) was synthesized. The yield of the synthesis was about 29%. The monomer was identified by using NMR, IR and UV/Vis spectroscopic methods. Poly (3,4-ethylenedithiathiophene) (PEDiTT) was prepared using this monomer and FeCl$_3$. The deep blue green color of the product was changed into brown color by the reduction with $N_2$H$_4$. This was soluble to common organic solvents. Spectroelectrochemistry was used to characterize the PEDiTT. NMP was the best solvent for PEDiTT. PEDiTT/NMP solution was used for making SAM type thin film of the polymer on gold electrode. Electrochemical and IR spectroscopic methods were used to identify the thin film.

  • The growing nuclear threat has amplified the need for developing diverse and accurate nuclear forensics analysis techniques to strengthen nuclear security measures. The work presented here is part of a research effort focused on developing a methodology for reactor-type discrimination of weapons-grade plutonium. To verify the developed methodology, natural $UO_2$ fuel samples were irradiated in a thermal neutron spectrum at the University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) and produced approximately $20{\mu}g$ of weapons-grade plutonium test material. Radiation transport simulations of common thermal reactor types that can produce weapons-grade plutonium were performed, and the results are presented here. These simulations were needed to verify whether the plutonium produced in the natural $UO_2$ fuel samples during the experimental irradiation at MURR was a suitable representative to plutonium produced in common thermal reactor types. Also presented are comparisons of fission product and plutonium concentrations obtained from computational simulations of the experimental irradiation at MURR to the nondestructive and destructive measurements of the irradiated natural $UO_2$ fuel samples. Gamma spectroscopy measurements of radioactive fission products were mostly within 10%, mass spectroscopy measurements of the total plutonium mass were within 4%, and mass spectroscopy measurements of stable fission products were mostly within 5%.

  • The formation of soluble microbial products(SMP) and molecular weight distribution on loading rate were observed in batch-type culture medium, which phenol was fed as a substrate. The molecular weight destribution was obtained by using 30K, 100K dalton and $0.45{\mu}$ membrane filters. When the phenol concentrationas a substrate was 120, 230 and 440 mg/L , the specific substrate utilization rate(q) showed 0.639, 1.281 and 1.744 mgTOC/mgMLSS/day, respectively. The endogenous biomass decay rate constant($K_d$) at each substrate concentration was 0.00536, 0.0661 and 0.0749($day^1$), respectively. The $SMP_e$ product rate constant($k_{SMP}_ e$) showed 0.006, 0.0058 and 0.0057($day^1$), respectively. The initial influent substrate during the course of time degraded and produced $SMP_s$. The $SMP_s$ was converted to the $SMP_{nd}$ and endogenous phase converted to the $SMP_e$ ingredients. The molecula weight distribution on loading rate was converted to a higher MW during the course of time.

  • We have analyzed the MRE3/REC114 gene of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, previously detected in isolation of mutants defective in meiotic recombination. We cloned the MRE3/REC114 gene by complementation of the meiotic recombination defect and it has been mapped to chormosome XIII. The DNA sequence analysis revealed that the MRE3 gene is identical to the REC114 gene. The upstream region of the MRE3/REC114 gene contains a T_4C site, a URS (upstream repression sequence) and a TR (T-rich) box-like sequence, which reside upstream of many meiotic genes. Coincidentally, northern blot analysis indicated that the three sizes of MRE3/REC114 transcripts, 3.4, 1.4 and 1.2 kb, are induced in meiosis. A less abundant transcript of 1.4 kb is detected in both mitotic and meiotic cells, suggesting that it is needed in mitosis as well as meiosis. To examine the role of the MRE3/REC114 gene, we constructed mre3 disruption mutants. Strains carrying an insertion or null deletion of the MRE3/REC114 gene showed slow growth in nutrient medium and the doubling time of these cells increased approximately by 2-fond compared to the wild-type strain. Moreover, the deletion mutant (${\delta}$mre3) displayed no meiotically induced recombination and no viable spores. The mre3/rec114 spore lethality can be suppressed by spo13, a mutation that causes cells to bypass reductional division. The double-stranded breaks (DSBs) which are involved in initiation of meiotic recombination were not detected in the analysis of meiotic chromosomal DNA from the mre3/rec114 disruptant. From these results we suggest that the MRE3/REC114 gene product is essential in normal growth and in early meiotic stages involved in meiotic recombination.

  • Membrane electrode assembly (MEA) for polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC) are commonly prepared in the research laboratory by spraying, screen-printing and brushing catalyst slurry onto membrane or other support material like carbon paper or polyimide film in a batch style. These hand applications of the catalyst slurry are painstaking process with respect to precision of catalyst loading and reproducibility. It has been generally mentioned that the adoption of continuous process is very helpful to develop the reliable product. In the present work, we report the results of using continuous type coater with doctor-blade to coat catalyst slurry for preparing the MEA catalyst layers In a faster and highly reproducible fashion. We show that while expectedly faster than batch style, the machine coater requires the use of slurry of appropriate composition and a properly selected transfer decal material in order to achieve superior MEA plat lnw loading reproducibility. To make highly viscous catalyst slurry that is imperative for using coater, we use 40wt.% Nafion solution and minimize the content of organic solvent. And the choice of proper high surface area catalyst is important in the viewpoint of making well-dispersed slurry. After catalyst coating onto the support material, we transferred the catalyst layer to both sides of Nafion membrane by hot-pressing In this case, the degree of transfer was Influenced by hot-pressing condition including temperature, pressure, and time. To compare the transferring ability, we compared so many films and detaching papers. And among the support, polyethylene terephthalate(PET) film shows the prominent result.

  • Liquid phase adsorption equilibria of amines in an aqueous solution onto high silica zeolite pellets (HSZ), macroreticular resin particles (MR) and granular activated carbon (GAC) were determined using a batch bottle technique at 298K. The isotherm curves of HSZ-amines and GAC-amines indicate the nonlinear relationship of unfavorable adsorption type of HSZ-amines and favourable one of GAC-amines. However the curves of MR-amines represent the linear pattern of an adsorption isotherm. Among various equilibrium isotherms, the three parameters of the Redlich-Peterson equation and the two parameters of the Freundlich equation are found to be the most satisfactory within the range of this study. The two parameters of the Langmuir isotherm were not applicable to the present adsorption systems. The amines were adsorbed on the HSZ, MR and GAC in the following sequence of adsorptivity; aromatic amines > primary amines > secondary amines. The product of the Freundlich constants, k and n, proportionally increased with the boiling point, molar volume and dissociation constants of amines adsorbed on HSZ, MR and GAC.

  • In this work, we constructed the sulfur-solidified materials using coal bottom ash from four thermal power stations in Korea and investigated their practical data for the production of industrial construction compounds. To manufacture the sulfur-solidified materials, we used a continuous mixer with the uniaxial screw-type. Also, coal bottom ash was used as a fine aggregate below 1.2 mm because of the operation characteristics for the continuous mixer. When the sulfur-solidified materials were produced with diverse sulfur concentrations (15, 20, 25, 30 wt%), compressive strength properties were analyzed. In addition, when the coal bottom ash was used with a high calcium oxide content, crack was found in the test product and pH of submerged liquid was above 12. These experimental results could be effectively applied to the recycling technology of coal bottom ash.

  • This research aims to develop cultural products for professional sales after producing creative products utilizing dinosaur characters, which are the representative exhibited item of dinosaur-centered museum. There are seven museums in Korea whose theme is dinosaur. There are three dinosaur museums among them, Goseong Dinosaur Museum at Kyungnam, Mokpo Natural History Museum, and Seodaemun Museum of Natural History. While inspecting cultural products within the museum shops of these three museums, general products occupy more than 80% of all the products rather than products related to dinosaurs, and has a problem that most products are decorative ones. This resulted from that enterprises supplying these products are not professional ones and are irrelevent to cultural industry; as result, purpose of conveying culture through products is lost. This research develops dinosaur characters utilizing computer 3D techniques in order to imbue unique characteristics to dinosaur museums and informing cultural speciality of our country. In addition, this research presented design method of cultural products by grafting traditional symbols onto these characters, and actually produced 11 items of 5 kinds: toys(dolls), clothes(T-shirts, pajamas, socks), stationery(notebooks, memo), accessaries (bags, umbrellas, handkerchief), and others(cups). On the items above, dinosaur characters are variously utilized in form of printing, embroidery, and stickers by using computer 3D technique. A cultural product is a tangible form which could show variety of cultural characteristics of our nation that could spread the culture through the consumers, and such type of purchasing could increase values of cultural industry by creating economic profits; such points are the significance of this study.
