The history of the fermented fisheries industry (수산 발효식품 산업 발전)

  • Indigenous fermented foods have played a vital role in human history, and continue to offer a multitude of diverse sensory characteristics. According to earthenware relic, the fermented fisheries products might be consumed in Korean peninsula from Paleolithic period. The traditional Korean fermented fish products are classified into four groups; Jeot-gal (sik-hae), Aek-jeot, Seasoned Jeot-gal, and Seasoned Aek-jeot. Jeot-gal is a fermented fishery with salt. Aek-jeot is a liquid part of Jeot-gal. Sik-hae is manufactured by fementing fishery with salt, cereal, malt powder, etc. Seasoned Jeot-gal is a salt-seasoned fish with red pepper powder, garlic, onion, etc. Seasoned Aek-jeot is a seasoned product by adding "salt-water" or "condiment" to Aek-jeot. The fermented fisheries industry has traditionally been succeeded mainly in a cottage scale to the middle of 20th century. Thereafter, together with the development of pelagic fishery, the fermented fisheries industry also developed constantly to an enterprise size.

  • Effect of a trial compound fertilizer for raising rice seedling in tray, was tested on varieties of Chucheongbyeo and Taebekbyeo and on soil media pH of 6.4 and 5.4. The trial product increased dry weight, number of leaves, and ratio of dry weight to plant height and decreased damping-off incidence. The soil media pH of 6.4. applied trial product, maintained pH 4.0 to 5.4 for seedling period, but the soil media pH of 5.4 was too lower. The nitrogen uptake by rice seedling in the trial product plot was lower at 15 days after seeding compared to the control of straight fertilizer application, but it was higher and 35 days after seeding, resulting in optimum rice seedlings.

  • In the case of a one-shot logistic equipment system that has been stored for a long time, reliability changes with the passage of time. Therefore, when the time comes to use, the storage reliability of the product is an important quality characteristic, and the existing studies have focused on the research for calculating the optimal period inspection cycle to improve the storage reliability. In this study, we analyzed the influence of the two factors on the storage reliability at the convergence point by analyzing the design reliability as well as the periodic inspection cycle. To do this, we applied the existing Martinez storage reliability model to the missile, a representative product of a one-shot system, and analyzed the quantitative effects of the design reliability and the periodic inspection cycle. From the results of the analysis, it was confirmed that the maintenance of the periodic inspection cycle is more important for the improvement of the storage reliability than the design reliability in the design reliability category of the current product.

  • This research is a development of useful S/W program for real industry about optimal product scheduling in real plant for manufacturing polymer products. For this, we used a fine model with total amount of losses in weight(ton) as an objective for optimal scheduling and a genetic algorithm for optimization in this factory they manufacture three different products. Major products are A and B but the product which can be process in the period of products change over. They also sells them as a chap product in market. The major products have several types of packing process-bulk, pack for domestic market, pack for export. The demands of product with each packing type are increased, and frequently they failed keep the deadline for sail. Based on realistic production situation, we composed a fine modeling for optimal scheduling. And we also develop a S/W program for optimal scheduling which can be used by non-specialist in scheduling problem. We used a modified genetic algorithm and it gave us a better solution in process. We can have a result of reducing the total amount of losses in weight by half compared with the losses when existing production schedule.

Effect of Carcass Weight on Physicochemical and Sensory Traits of Duck Meat (오리 도체중량이 오리고기의 이화학적 특성 및 관능특성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effect of carcass weight on the physicochemical and sensory traits of duck meat. In total, 150 duck carcasses were divided into five different weight groups. The fat content in both breast and leg meats tended to increase with increased carcass weight. The cooking loss was significantly higher in the <2,200 g weight group and decreased with increased carcass weight. There was no significant difference in pH, water-holding capacity, lightness, or redness among carcass weight groups. The shear force was significantly higher in the ${\geq}2,800g$ weight group. The oleic acid (C18:1, n9) content in both the breast and leg meats tended to increase with increased carcass weight. The unsaturated fatty acid content in the breast meats was similar for all the groups whereas its content in the leg meats increased with increased weight groups. There was no significant difference in the sensory scores among the treatments. Taken together, it may be said that the carcass weight had minor effects on the physicochemical traits of duck meat. Further studies are needed to determine the effects of different carcass weights in the same raising period on duck meat quality.

  • In this paper, based on the production technology and infrastructure of local cultural contents, it is determined that reconstruction and commercialization of local culture resources are necessary due to absence of character brand products centered on storytelling. It is expected to contribute to the expansion of the supply of advanced ceramic products along with the foundation of various contents production as it becomes the foundation to establish the developed business base through the differentiation strategy of the character product development based on the storytelling. In addition, due to the manual production, only a small amount of production can be produced and the production period is lengthened. On the other hand, the production period of gypsum mold is shortened by making mock-up through 3D program and 3D printing, It was effective in developing a wide variety of pottery products.

Design Development of Cultural Fashion Products Based on the Baekje Local Culture (백제 지역문화기반의 패션문화상품 디자인 개발)

  • This paper develops fashion products that express the beauty of Baekje through an investigation of the unique characteristics of Baekje artifacts. This work can promote the Baekje region and provide cultural goods for local festivals to improve the economic competitiveness of the area. Artifacts from the Muryongwangreung in Gongju (the capital city of Baekje during the Woongjin period)were reinterpreted into a more modern form. Among the Muryongwangreung artifacts, the king and queen's gold coffin as well as chignon ornaments were used as design motifs. These artifacts were stylized into motifs and developed into patterns using Adobe Illustrator CS3 and Adobe Photoshop CS3. The patterns were subsequently applied to the designs of scarves and ties. The color was selected using the CMYK colorway from the Gongju city logo subsequently, a total of 12 designs (including 6 ties and 6 scarves) were developed. The design developed from this research can be applied to diverse products to promote the area. Using the research as a foundation, fashion product development based on the local culture can have a significant impact on the establishment of the Baekje cultural identity and the competitiveness of the region.

The Role of Open Business Model in Technology Commercialization

  • Purpose: This paper has examined the impact of open innovation business model in technology commercialization with the data from 30 companies of manufacturing firms in South Korea. Methods: The findings provide support for distinguishing five hypotheses relating to development time, IP management, sales, firm size and R&D intensity. To test the hypotheses, data were collected using via e-mail and fax. Small and medium-sized (less than 300 employees) and large industrial firms were chosen for this study. Results: The result shows that openness in its business model is positively associated with successful technology commercialization. Conclusion: The major findings and the implications are: First, as the business model gets more open, development period of technology will be more favorable which gets benefit from rising costs of innovation. Second, as the business model gets more open, large portion of sales are created from new products. Thus, the problem of shorter product life in the market which affects large portion of market revenue can be solved through an open business model. Third, in general, R&D intensity, firm size and the level of IP management affect determination of business model types. The findings also suggest that companies need to increasingly address their external technology exploitation process instead of focusing on their internal innovation processes.

  • Engineering valuation is a specialized discipline requiring expert knowledge and judgment, which scientifically estimates the economic value of industrial properties. By industrial properties, we mean engineering structures such as mines, factories, buildings, machines, and other industrial facilities as well as facilities of public enterprises. Particular industrial properties can have longer economic life if their performance is excellent and they are still suitable for current manufacturing needs. If not, its economic life will be shorter. As speed of technological progress becomes rapid, life-cycle and development period of a product is becoming shorter. In an industry characterized by rapid development of technology, industrial properties can become obsolescent faster. Even if they are in good working order, they could be no longer suitable for manufacturing new products based on radically different technology. In our research, we apply engineering approach to estimating functional economic life by factoring in technological obsolescence in such an industry.

  • This study, in order to complement instability of analysis result stemming from the choice between reference point and comparison point which is pointed out as the defect of shift-share analysis, conducted shift-share analysis using Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) trend of Geumgang area, Chungcheongnam-do for the period from 2000 to 2011. As a result of the analysis, (1) industries that had both the positive Regional Share Effect (RSE) and Industrial Mixed Effect (IME) were service industries such as manufacturing industry, electricity gas, transportation industry, art, etc., which are positively influencing the regional industry. (2) industries that had both the negative RSE and IME were other service industries such as wholesale and retail businesses, lodging industry, food industry, real estate business and leasing service, business service industry, public administration, etc., which provide basic livelihood services for the residents. (3) industries that had the positive RSE and negative IME were agriculture, forestry and fishery industry, mining industry, construction industry, and educational service industry. (4) industries that had the negative RSE and positive IME were info-communications industry, financial and insurance businesses, health industry, etc.
