  • Hydrogen production from water using solar energy is attractive way to obtain clean energy resource. Among the various solar-to-hydrogen production techniques, a combination of a photovoltaic and an electrolytic cell is one of the most promising techniques in term of stability and efficiency. In this study, we show successful fabrication of precursor solution processed CIGS thin film solar cells which can generate high voltage. In addition, CIGS thin film solar cell modules producing over 2V of open circuit voltage were fabricated by connecting three single cells in series, which are applicable to water electrolysis. The operating current and voltage during water electrolysis was measured to be 4.23mA and 1.59V, respectively, and solar to hydrogen efficiency was estimated to be 3.9%.

  • The purpose of this study was to confirm the quality characteristics of distilled soju with different rice pretreatment processes. The non-steamed fermentation method is a technology that uses starch to produce saccharification and alcohol without going through the steaming of raw materials. It has advantages such as reduction of manpower and cost, prevention of nutrient loss, and minimization of waste water. In this study, rice used were non-steamed and pulverized 'Baromi2', nonsteamed and steamed 'Samgwang', and puffed rice. As the fermenting agent, koji, modified nuruk, N9 yeast, and purified enzyme were used, and lactic acid was added to prevent contamination during fermentation. The amount of water was 300% in total, and after the first watering, 5 days after fermentation, the second watering was carried out. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that the non-steamed fermentation method using 'Baromi' was superior to the existing fermentation method in terms of temperature during fermentation, final alcohol content, soluble solids, and pH. By expanding the stability of the production technology of non-steamed fermentation technology, product quality improvement can be expected.

  • This study was carried out to improve quality of minimally processed lettuce with various treatments. The treatments for preventing enzymatic browning were using different chemical immersion solutions and controlling microbial growth were using chlorine, electrolyzed water, and organic acid. The solution with ascorbic acid 1$\%$ and citric acid 1 $\%$ showed a positive effect on antibrowning of minimally processed lettuce. In the inhibition of microorganisms growth, 200 ppm NaCIO solution was more effective than fermented pollen solution and Na-dichloroisocyanurate solution. In electrolyzed water system, no-diaphragm system showed inhibitory effect of microorganisms growth. Also, total microorganisms count of minimally processed lettuce with ascorbic acid and citric acid solution was lower by about 4 log cycle after 4 days storage at l0$^{\circ}C$.

  • In the production of organic Panax ginseng, the morphological changes were confirmed by providing general water and microbubble water, respectively. Analysis of seedling ginseng treated with general water and bubbles water revealed that many seedlings were formed in the seedling treated with bubble water, and about 15% weight increase occurred in the growing period. The growth rate of stem, leaf, and root was about 15% higher than that of all. Taken together, the growth of seedling cultivation using bubble water was about 15% overall. In order to process ginseng, the dried ginseng was higher in dry weight than the general water seedling seedlings grown in bubble water. This suggests that more processed products will be produced per unit weight at the time of producing the processed products at the farm, which can directly increase the farm income.

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of an experimental protective clothing material with regard to comfort and isolation from the hazardous heavy metals produced in municipal waste incineration. An analysis was conducted on the total concentrations of heavy metals in some parts such as surface, middle layer, and interior for the treated fabric, and the untreated one, and working clothes. We conclude that the processed fabric with charcoal for working clothes showed the least exposure to heavy metals of the three. Working clothes worn by workers during waste incineration were much more contaminated than the untreated and treated materials. The material of working clothes could be chosen according to the function with regard to its original chemical characteristics, which are the proper results of the dyeing process. The processed fabric material has high degrees of moisture regain, thermal insulation, water vapor penetration, and antibacterial function; consequently, it is much more comfortable to wear. The fabric material proposed in this research contributed much more to blocking heavy metal concentrations (such as Cd, Pb, Cu, Cr, Zn, Mn) than did the fabric of working clothes at present. Consequently, we strongly suggest that the material of working clothes be upgraded by adopting the above-mentioned charcoal-processed fabric. Materials of working clothes must be improved to increase comfort and prevent harmful gas, flying dust, and heavy metals from permeating the fabrics.

  • A processed Aconiti tuber (Korean name, Kyeong-Po Buja) was extracted with 80% aqueous EtOH, and the concentrated extract was partitioned with EtOAc and water ($H_2O$). From the EtOAc fraction, two flavonoids were isolated through repeated silica gel column chromatographies. From the result of physico-chemical data including NMR, mass spectrometry and IR, the chemical structures of the compounds were determined to be liquiritin (1) and liquiritigenin (2). This is the first study to isolate flavonoids (1) and (2) from the processed Aconiti tuber.
