  • In this study, we predicted the thermal breakdown of high-voltage interrupter with the characteristics of thermal plasmas such as temperature, pressure and concentration of the ablated material by using a commercial CFD program. The results showed that the pressure build-up inside the chamber was proportional to the magnitude of arcing current because the quantities of heat energy and ablated mass also increase together with the current during the compression process. And during the decompression process, the reverse flow was not coincided with the magnitude of the applied current due to the compressibility of the gas through backflow channel. The present method is expected to be useful for the design of guideline and interruption capacity on the thermal breakdown of a PASB chamber.

  • This study investigates the effect of process stopping and restarting on the microstructure and local nanoindentation properties of 316L stainless steel manufactured via selective laser melting (SLM). We find that stopping the SLM process midway, exposing the substrate to air having an oxygen concentration of 22% or more for 12 h, and subsequently restarting the process, makes little difference to the density of the restarted area (~ 99.8%) as compared to the previously melted area of the substrate below. While the microstructure and pore distribution near the stop/restart area changes, this modified process does not induce the development of unusual features, such as an inhomogeneous microstructure or irregular pore distribution in the substrate. An analysis of the stiffness and hardness values of the nano-indented steel also reveals very little change at the joint of the stop/restart area. Further, we discuss the possible and effective follow-up actions of stopping and subsequently restarting the SLM process.

  • A computational approach of the arc quenching process in GCB was developed. it is capable to calculates the thermodynamic quantities of the gas as a function of time taking into account of all spaces concerned with the arc quenching. Basically using so-called FLIC method, this program adoptes 'Simplified Enthalpy Arc Model', which is somewhat modified. And, to examine whether our works were done properly, it was simulated the whole process of the arc quenching that is based on self-flow generation phenomena/current interruption in a thermal expansion type circuit breaker. This program was verified by experiments, both showed fairly good agreement.

  • When a fault occurs on distribution network. blackout region may happen, then it should be restored as fast as possible to minimize interruption of electric service. In this paper. A near optimal method to restore distribution network is proposed. For an optimal restoration, the number or switching operations must be minimized. The proposed method generates a general restoration plan for any distribution network fault and designed to reduce switching operations considering available load transfers. In this method overall process time can reduce with heuristic rules, which make a reduction of search space before restoration process. To achieve a near optimal solution, multiple load transfer algorithm is proposed too.

  • Medical signal processing requires noise and interference-free inputs for precise segregation and classification operations. However, sensing and transmitting wireless media/devices generate noise that results in signal tampering in feature extractions. To address these issues, this article introduces a finite impulse response design based on a two-level transpose Vedic multiplier. The proposed architecture identifies the zero-noise impulse across the varying sensing intervals. In this process, the first level is the process of transpose array operations with equalization implemented to achieve zero noise at any sensed interval. This transpose occurs between successive array representations of the input with continuity. If the continuity is unavailable, then the noise interruption is considerable and results in signal tampering. The second level of the Vedic multiplier is to optimize the transpose speed for zero-noise segregation. This is performed independently for the zero- and nonzero-noise intervals. Finally, the finite impulse response is estimated as the sum of zero- and nonzero-noise inputs at any finite classification.

  • Through the smart factory construction project, sensors can be installed in manufacturing production facilities and various process data can be collected in real time. Through this, research on real-time facility anomaly detection is being actively conducted to reduce production interruption due to facility abnormality in the manufacturing process. In this paper, to detect abnormalities in production facilities, the manufacturing data was applied to deep learning models Autoencoder(AE), VAE(Variational Autoencoder), and AAE(Adversarial Autoencoder) to derive the results. Manufacturing data was used as input data through a simple moving average technique and preprocessing process, and performance analysis was conducted according to the window size of the simple movement average technique and the feature vector size of the AE model.

  • This paper shows prioritization process for equipment investment plans considering reliability indices and economical efficiency. To decide prioritization of distribution investment projects, we made a distribution system model using system configuration, it's component and load information and designed several investment alternatives to improve reliability of present system. Lastly, we proposed a evaluation model of economical efficiency assessment on distribution investment alternative projects. To analyze influence by reliability and economical efficiency, we produced economical effects with applying time-varying failure rate of KEPCO's main equipments of distribution system and interruption cost of electric power affected by investment. Finally, in order to insure the validity of this proposed methodology, we compared investment prioritization by economical evaluation with that of real investment alternatives of KEPCO's branch office. In conclusion, this paper shows what and how to interpret the reliability effects of distribution system investments into financial indicators beneficial for power utilities's managers to make decision on the perspective of corporate value.

  • Nowadays, NGN(Next Generation Network) is evolving into network with packet based QoS.\ulcorner This paper presents the recovery method as a selecting way of more efficient path in MPLS network that reduces the service interruption time. In order to increase the efficiency of usage of recovering resource which is one of major functions of disorder recovering, it opens the state information of each Node both to fault detector and bandwidth broker so that it reduces message transmission time for recovery when functional disorder occurs. in addition, by effective management and adjustment of required bandwidth of entire network depending on the changes of traffic load, it improves the efficiency of bandwidth usage. and in MPLS network supporting priority selection function, it allocates domains depending on the traffic relating to priority order to the entire network so that\ulcorner it efficiently allocates proper resources to the restoring process between the entry and the end for the traffic of high priority and for low priority traffic, it restores path oかy inside disordered domain. by doing this, it reduces resetting time and unnecessary massage transmission.

  • This paper presents a pricing model for maximizing a service provider's profit, taking into account consumers' quality-of-service dependent willingness to pay, in integrated voice/data mobile services. For the voice and the data services, time-sensitive pricing and volume-sensitive pricing mechanism will be applied, respectively, as in the case of Korea's mobile service market. Assuming that consumers are very sensitive to call interruption during handoff moments, the model presented here considers reserving guard channels exclusively for handoff traffic, in the process of frequency channels allocation, as well as guaranteeing consumers quality of service regarding call interruption rate. Ultimately, this model proposes a means to guarantee the quality of service in the short term, through pricing strategies as well as channel allocation policies, and the simulation results show that without expanding system resources, there exists a trade-off between profit and quality-of-service guarantee.

  • The rate of rise of the fault current in DC grids is very high compared to AC grids because of the low line impedance of DC lines. In AC grids the arc of the circuit breaker under current interruption is extinguished by the zero current crossing which is provided naturally by the system. In DC grids the zero current crossing must be provided by the circuit breaker itself. Unlike AC girds, the magnetic energy of DC grids is stored in the system inductance. The DC circuit breaker must dissipate the stored energy. In addition the DC breaker must withstand the residual overvoltage after the current interruption. The main contents of this paper are to ${\cdot}$ Explain the theoretical background for the design of DC circuit breaker. ${\cdot}$ Develop the simulation model in PSIM of the real scaled DC circuit breaker for 1,800V DC railway. ${\cdot}$ Suggest design guidelines for the DC circuit breaker based on the experimental work, simulations and design process.
