  • A time series can be decomposed into simple components with a multiscale method. Empirical mode decomposition(EMD) is a recently invented multiscale method in Huang et al. (1998). It is natural to apply a classical prediction method such a vector autoregressive(AR) model to the obtained simple components instead of the original time series; in addition, a prediction procedure combining a classical prediction model to EMD and Hilbert spectrum is proposed in Kim et al. (2008). In this paper, we suggest to adopt principal component analysis(PCA) to the prediction procedure that enables the efficient selection of input variables among obtained components by EMD. We discuss the utility of adopting PCA in the prediction procedure based on EMD and Hilbert spectrum and analyze the daily worm account data by the proposed PCA adopted prediction method.

  • In chemical processes, measurement errors reduce the credibility of information and cause inconsistency in material and energy balances. Because multicomposition flows and temperature measurements make material and energy balances nonlinear equations, data reconciliation becomes a nonlinear constrained optimization problem. In multicomposition processes, if we follow general optimization procedure, the number of measurement variables is so large that data reconciliation requires much computation time. We propose the decomposition procedure to reduce the computation time without the decrease of accuracy of data reconciliation. Decomposition procedure finds global variables, that can reduce the nonlinearity of constraints, and divides two sub-optimization problems. Once we optimize the global variables at upper level, we can easily optimize the remain variables at tower level, We can obtain the short computational time and the same accuracy as SQP optimization method.

  • The optimal replacement problem was investigated for a multi-state deteriorated system for which the true internal state cannot be observed directly except when the system breaks down completely. The internal state was assumed to be monitored incompletely by a monitor that gives information related to the true state of the system. The problem was formulated as a partially observable Markov decision process. The optimal procedure was found to be a monotone procedure with respect to stochastic increasing ordering of the state probability vectors under some assumptions. Limiting the optimal procedure to a monotone procedure would greatly reduce the tremendous amount of calculation time required to find the optimal procedure.

  • Many researchers have been considering genetic algorithms to system optimization problems. Especially, real-coded genetic algorithms are very effective techniques because they are simpler in coding procedures than binary-coded genetic algorithms and can reduce extra works that increase the length of chromosome for wide search space. Thus, this paper presents a fuzzy system design technique to improve the performance of the fuzzy system. The proposed system consists of two procedures. The primary tuning procedure coarsely tunes fuzzy sets of the system using the k-means clustering algorithm of which the structure is very simple, and then the secondary tuning procedure finely tunes the fuzzy sets using enhanced real-coded genetic algorithms based on the primary procedure. In addition, this paper constructs multiple fuzzy systems using a data preprocessing procedure which is contrived for reflecting various characteristics of nonlinear data. Finally, the proposed fuzzy system is applied to the field of time series prediction and the effectiveness of the proposed techniques are verified by simulations of typical time series examples.

  • Background: To explored the value of 3D C-arm CT (CACT) guidance system in performing radiofrequency ablation (RFA) following transarterial chemoembolizationon (TACE) for hepatocellular carcinomas. Materials and Methods: RFA of hepatocellular carcinomas (HCC) were performed on 15 patients (21 lesions) with the assistance of CACT guidance system. Technical success, procedure time, complications and patient radiation exposure were investigated. The puncture performance level was evaluated on a five-point scale (5-1: excellent-poor). Complete ablation rate was evaluated after two months follow-up using enhanced CT scans. Results: The technical success rate of RFA procedure under CACT navigation system was 100 %. Mean total procedure time was $24.24{\pm}6.53min$, resulting in a mean effective exposure dose of $15.4{\pm}5.1mSv$. The mean puncture performance level rated for CACT guided RFA procedure was $4.87{\pm}0.35$. Complete ablation (CA) was achieved in 20 (95.2%) of the treated 21 tumors after the first RFA session. None of patients developed intra-procedural complications. Conclusions: 3D CACT guidance system enables reliable and efficient needle positioning by providing real-time intraoperative guidance for performing RFA on HCCs.

  • Because interventional procedure operates looking at premier as real time when perate intervention enemy, by patient is revealed during suitableness time in radiation, side effect such as radiation injury of skin is apt to happen. It established by purpose of study that measure exposure dose that patient receives about these problem, and find solution for radiation injury and repletion method. In this study, we used Rando phantom of identical structure with the human body which becomes accomplished with 4 branch ingredient of the attempt and system equivalent material them and absorbed dose were measured by TLD. According to the laboratory, it shows that operations such as TFCA procedure or uterine myoma embolization are more dangerous than TACE procedure. If both operations are inspected during a short time, it is not affected in being bombed. However, it can lead to palliative agenesis or depilate, definitive agenesis only if operations are repeated more than three times. Dose distibution based on experiment, to reduce radiation exposure to patients result from reduction of scatter ray as we control field size of radiation and protection of side organs except for tumor. also we knew that we can protect patients form radiation exposure, if we increas SOD and decrease SID.

  • The unit root test is the major tool for determining whether we use differencing or detrending to eliminate the trend from time series data. Dickey-Fuller test (Dickey and Fuller, 1979) has the low power of test when the sample size is small or the true coefficient of AR(1) process is almost unit root and the Bayesian unit root test has complicated testing procedure. We propose a new unit root testing procedure, which mixed Bayesian approach with the traditional testing procedure. Using simulation studies, our approach showed locally higher powers than Dickey-Fuller test when the sample size is small or the time series has almost unit root and simpler procedure than Bayesian unit root test procedure. Proposed testing procedure can be applied to the time series data that are not observed as process with unit root.

  • During the development of a weapon system, the concept of maintainability is used for quantitatively predicting and analyzing the maintenance time. However, owing to the complexity of a weapon system, the standard maintenance time predicted during the system's development differs significantly from the measured time during the operation of the equipment after the system's development. According to the analysis presented in this paper, the maintenance time can be predicted by considering the system's complexity on the basis of the military specifications, and the procedure can be Part B of Procedure II and Method B of Procedure V. The maintenance work elements affected by the system complexity were identified by the analytic hierarchy process technique, and the system-complexity-reflecting weights of the maintenance work elements were calculated by the Delphi method, which involves expert surveys. Based on MIL-HDBK-470A and MIL-HDBK-472, it is going to present a Korean-style maintainability prediction method that reflects system complexity of weapons systems.

  • A nuclear power plant is a large complex system with tens of thousands of components. To ensure plant safety, the early and accurate diagnosis of abnormal situations is an important factor. To prevent misdiagnosis, operating procedures provide the anticipated symptoms of abnormal situations. While the more severe emergency situations total less than ten cases and can be diagnosed by dozens of key plant parameters, abnormal situations on the other hand include hundreds of cases and a multitude of parameters that should be considered for diagnosis. The tasks required of operators to select the appropriate operating procedure by monitoring large amounts of information within a limited amount of time can burden operators. This paper aims to develop a system that can, in a short time and with high accuracy, select the appropriate operating procedure and sub-procedure in an abnormal situation. Correspondingly, the proposed model has two levels of prediction to determine the procedure level and the detailed cause of an event. Simulations were conducted to evaluate the developed model, with results demonstrating high levels of performance. The model is expected to reduce the workload of operators in abnormal situations by providing the appropriate procedure to ultimately improve plant safety.

  • Introduction : Laryngomicrosurgery(LMS) is frequent procedure applying to benign and early malignant larygeal disease such as vocal cord polyp, nodule and early glottic cancer. LMS has been known as safe procedure and short time consuming treatment. So few reports about complications in LMS was done. In this study, complications and problems from LMS were investigated and reported. Method : From 2000, January to 2001, December, 180 patients who were treated with LMS in Asan medical center were studied by retrograde chart review. Results : In these patients, total 9 patients(5%) were suffered from complication. 4 patients (2%) had teeth injury and 4(2%) were suffered from foreign body sensation in tongue and 1(1%) had hypoglossal nerve injury. Main mechanism of complications is thought by pressure injury by laryngoscope blade. No definite correlation between procedure and complication was observed. Conclusion : There are few neural complications with LMS such as lingual and hypoglossal nerve injury. Before operation of LMS, warning and informing of complications by mechanical stress must be done. Gentle procedure and short operation time are necessary to avoid these problems. And patients who have risk factors of oral complications such as dental disease or dental prosthesis must have dental evaluation and treatment before LMS procedure.
