  • The Renewal process and the Non-homogeneous Poisson process (NHPP) process are probably the most popular models for describing the failure pattern of repairable systems. But both these models are based on too restrictive assumptions on the effect of the repair action. For these reasons, several authors have recently proposed point process models which incorporate both renewal type behavior and time trend. One of these models is the Modulated Power Law Process (MPLP). The Modulated Power Law Process is a suitable model for describing the failure pattern of repairable systems when both renewal-type behavior and time trend are present. In this paper we propose Bayes estimation of the next failure time after the system has experienced some failures, that is, Mean Time Between Failure for the MPLP model. Numerical examples illustrate the estimation procedure.

  • Space time series data can be viewed either as a set of time series collected simultaneously at a number of spatial locations or as sets of spatial data collected at a number of time points. The major purpose of this article is to formulate a class of space time autoregressive moving average (STARMA) model, to discuss some of the their statistical properties such as model identification approaches, some procedure for estimation and the predictions. For illustration, we apply this STARMA model to the mumps data. The data set of mumps cases consists of the number of cases of mumps reported from twelve states monthly over the years 1969-1988.

  • Development of a real-time simulation model for high-speed and multibody tracked vehicles is difficult because they involve hundreds of highly nonlinear equations. In the development of a reliable tracked vehicle model for real-time simulation, it is helpful to use an off-line tracked vehicle model developed by considering all the degrees of freedom of each element. This paper presents a step-by-step procedure for the development of a real-time simulation model based on the off-line tracked vehicle model. The road input data, Profile IV, is used for the real time simulation and simulation results are compared with vehicle test results obtained in the military test field. It is noted that the simulation results are quite close to the test results.

  • Mathematical programming method for finding optimal solution of job shop scheduling is inadequate to real situation because fo too much computation time. In contrast, dispatching rule is helpful for reducing compuation time but is not guaranted to find optimal solution. The purpose of this paper is to develop a new dispatching rule and procedure to minimize mean flow time whose result is near the optimal solution for job shop scheduling. First step is to select machine which have shortest finishing operation time among the schedulable operations. Second step is to select operation with regard to estimated remaining operation time. The suggested rule is compared with nondelay and MWKR rule for three examples, and is confirmed to be most effective to minimize mean flow time.

  • In this paper, we proposed an advanced authentication structure for reducing the certificate acquisition time which is one of the factors that should be improved in a conventional wireless PKI. A conventional key exchange method simply performs the key exchange setup step based on discrete algebraic subjects. But the mutual-authentication procedure of wireless PKI for reducing authentication time uses an elliptical curve for a key exchange setup step. We simulated and compared the authentication structure proposed by Sufatrio, K. Lam[4] and proposed authentication structure in terms of the authentication time. Simulation results show that the proposed method reduces the authentication time compared to the conventional wireless PKI authentication method.

  • In this paper, we propose a new scheme for the discretization of nonlinear systems using Taylor series expansion and the zero-order hold assumption. This scheme is applied to the sample-data representation of a nonlinear system with constant state tine-delay. The mathematical expressions of the discretization scheme are presented and the effect of the time-discretization method on key properties of nonlinear control system with state tine-delay, such as equilibrium properties and asymptotic ability, is examined. The proposed scheme provides a finite-dimensional representation for nonlinear systems with state time-delay enabling existing controller design techniques to be applied to then. The performance of the proposed discretization procedure is evaluated using a nonlinear system. For this nonlinear system, various sampling rates and time-delay values are considered.

  • In this paper, a novel method to determine the optimal checkpoint interval for real-time control task is proposed considering its performance degradation according to tasks's execution time. The control task in this paper has a specific sampling period shorter than its deadline. Control performance is degraded as the control task execution time is prolonged across the sampling period and eventually zero when reached to the deadline. A new performance index is defined to represent the performance variation due to the extension of task execution time accompanying rollback fault recovery. The procedure to find the optimal checkpoint interval is addressed and several simulation examples are presented.

  • This study was attempted to standard Yukwa recipies by proposing optimal conditions for soaking time and the number of beating. Soaking time and the number of beating had effects on the number of peak, implying that 15 days of soaking time at $15^{\circ}C$ and 160 times of beating would be required. In Yukwa's microstructural image, the better groups were over 15 days of soaking time and as number of beating increased, the appearance improved. The longer soaking time, the better tenderness and expansion volume. The number of beating had significant effects on all sensory evaluation except volume. Response surface model showed that the optimal condition would be at least 15 days of soaking and 319 times of beating.

An Enhanced Algorithm for the Generation of Artificial Acceleration Time History (인공 가속도 시간이력 작성을 위한 개선된 알고리즘)

  • An algorithm to enhance spectra matching of acceleration time history used in the seismic analysis of nuclear power plants(NPP) is proposed. The new scheme provides the solution on the highly fluctuating and over conservatism problems that happened in order to satisfy design spectrum enveloping criteria in the traditional method. To obtain optimized spectrum for a time history, a spectrum matching procedure that adapts a system identification technique is also developed. The algorithm also introduces maximum displacement control, baseline correction, clipping and raising of maximum peak of time history, and power spectral density (PSD) control of time history. It is verified through numerical examples that this new scheme can definitely generate acceleration time history, closely matching the target spectra and satisfying other stipulated requirements.
