When the input-output record is available, the identification of a bilinear system is considered. It is assumed that the input is noise free and the output is contaminated by an additive noise. It is further assumed that the covariance matrix of the noise is known up to a factor of proportionality. The extended generalized total least squares (e-GTLS) method is proposed as one of the consistent estimators of the bilinear system parameters. Considering that the input is noise-free and that bilinear system equation is linear with respect to the system parameters, we extend the GTLS problem. The extended GTLS problem is reduced to an unconstrained minimization problem, and is solved by the Newton-Raphson method. We compare the GTLS method and the e-GTLS method in the point of the accuracy of the estimated system parameters.

One of the most recent methods of structural damage identification is using the difference between structures responses after and before damage occurrence. To do this one can formulate the damage detection problem as an inverse optimization problem where the extents of damage in each element are considered as the optimizations variables. To optimize the objective function, heuristic methods such as GA, PSO etc. are widely utilized. In this paper, inspired by animals such as bat, dolphin, oilbird, shrew etc. that use echolocation for finding food, a new and efficient method, called Echolocation Search Algorithm (ESA), is proposed to properly identify the site and extent of multiple damage cases in structural systems. Numerical results show that the proposed method can reliably determine the location and severity of multiple damage cases in structural systems.
We present in this work a coupled phenomenological chemo-mechanical model that represents the degradation of concrete-like materials. The chemical behaviour is described by the nowadays well known simplified calcium leaching approach. And the mechanical damage behaviour is described by a continuum damage model which involves the gradient of the damage quantity. The coupled nonlinear problem at hand is addressed within the context of the finite element method. For the equation governing the calcium dissolution-diffusion part of the problem, special care is taken to treat the highly nonlinear calcium conductivity and solid calcium functions. The algorithmic design is based on a Newton-type iterative scheme where use is made of a recently proposed relaxed linearization procedure. And for the equation governing the damage part of the problem, an augmented Lagrangian formulation is used to take into account the damage irreversibility constraint. Finally, numerical simulations are compared with experimental results on cement paste.
Various color spaces such as RGB, HSV, log-chromaticity have been used in the field of person re-identification. However, not enough studies have been done to find suitable color space for the re-identification. This paper reviews color invariance of color spaces by diagonal model and explores the suitability of each color space in the application of person re-identification. It also proposes a method for person re-identification based on a histogram refinement technique and some fusion strategies of color spaces. Two public datasets (ALOI and ImageLab) were used for the suitability test on color space and the ImageLab dataset was used for evaluating the feasibility of the proposed method for person re-identification. Experimental results show that RGB and HSV are more suitable for the re-identification problem than other color spaces such as normalized RGB and log-chromaticity. The cumulative recognition rates up to the third rank under RGB and HSV were 79.3% and 83.6% respectively. Furthermore, the fusion strategy using max score showed performance improvement of 16% or more. These results show that the proposed method is more effective than some other methods that use single color space in person re-identification.
System identification is regarded as the most basic technique for structural health monitoring to evaluate structural integrity. Although many system identification techniques extracting mode information (e.g., mode frequency and mode shape) have been proposed so far, it is also desired to identify physical parameters (e.g., stiffness and damping). As for high-rise buildings subjected to long-period ground motions, system identification for evaluating only the shear stiffness based on a shear model does not seem to be an appropriate solution to the system identification problem due to the influence of overall bending response. In this paper, a system identification algorithm using a shear-bending model developed in the previous paper is revised to identify both shear and bending stiffnesses. In this algorithm, an ARX (Auto-Regressive eXogenous) model corresponding to the transfer function for interstory accelerations is applied for identifying physical parameters. For the experimental verification of the proposed system identification framework, vibration tests for a 3-story steel mini-structure are conducted. The test structure is specifically designed to measure horizontal accelerations including both shear and bending responses. In order to obtain reliable results, system identification theories for two different inputs are investigated; (a) base input motion by a modal shaker, (b) unknown forced input on the top floor.

In this paper we propose the verifiable self-certified schemes(key distribution scheme identification scheme digital signature scheme) based on ${\gamma}$th -residuosity which make up for defects of Girault's self-certified schemes allow the authenticity of public keys to be verified during the use of the keys. The security of our schemes is based on the difficulty of ${\gamma}$th -residuosity problem and discrete logarithm problem simultaneously.
The present paper deals with the identification of a concentrated damage in an elastic parabolic arch through the minimization of an objective function which measures the differences between numerical and experimental values of static displacements. The damage consists in a notch that reduces the height of the cross section at a given abscissa and therefore causes a variation in the flexural stiffness of the structure. The analytical values of static displacements due to applied loads are calculated by means of the principle of virtual work for both the undamaged and damaged arch. First, pseudo-experimental data are used to study the inverse problem and investigate whether a unique solution can occur or not. Various damage intensities are considered to assess the reliability of the identification procedure. Then, the identification procedure is applied to an experimental case, where displacements are measured on a prototype arch. The identified values of damage parameters, i.e., location and intensity, are compared to those obtained by means of a dynamic identification technique performed on the same structure.
In 2005, A. Saxena, B. Soh and S. Priymak [10] proposed a two-flow blind identification protocol. But it has a weakness of the active-intruder attack and uses the pairing operation that causes slow implementation in smart cards. In 2008, Y. W. Lee [9] made a method of the active-intruder attack on their identification scheme and proposed a new zero-knowledge blind identification protocol for smart cards. In this paper, we give more simple and fast protocols than above protocols such that the prover using computationally limited devices such as smart cards has no need of computing the bilinear pairings. Computing the bilinear pairings is needed only for the verifier and is secure assuming the hardness of the Discrete-Logarithm Problem (DLP).
Traditional experimental verification for nonlinear system identification often faces the problem of experiment model repeatability. In our research, a steel frame experimental model is developed to imitate the behavior of a single story steel frame under horizontal excitation. Two adjustable rotational dampers are used to simulate the plastic hinge effect of the damaged beam-column joint. This model is suggested as a benchmark model for nonlinear dynamics study. Since the nonlinear form provided by the damper is unknown, a Morlet wavelet based method is introduced to identify the mathematical model of this structure under different damping cases. After the model identification, earthquake excitation tests are carried out to verify the generality of the identified model. The results show the extensive applicability and effectiveness of the identification method.
The closed loop identification(CLID) is a very useful method for on-line applications since it can identify the plant in the closed-loop system composed of the plant and the controller. There are some literatures on CLID, but they and mainly focused on SISO(Single-Input/Single-Output) problem. In this paper, a CLID method is proposed for MIMO(Multi-Input/Multi-Output) systems. The CLID method is applied to a MIMO benchmark plant, TRMS(Twin-Rotor MIMO System). To illustrate the performance of the closed-loop system identification., unit step responses in the TRMS are represented and compared with the open-loop identification via some simulation.
