TRIZ Problem Definition through Requirements Engineering (요건공학을 통한 TRIZ 문제정의)

  • Recently, there are many corporations, schools and institutes that apply TRIZ to solve technical problems. However, in reality, only a few cases of brainstorming applications exist in utilizing forty principles of TRIZ due to the difficulty at TRIZ problem definition. In order to facilitate TRIZ applications, this study proposes the utilization of requirement definition and description tool of systems engineering in TRIZ problem definition. No requirement definition exists in general problem types that TRIZ approach is used in implementing system solution. At most of problem situations, TRIZ users reversely infer that certain problem belongs to which requirement definition it is and recommends TRIZ tools to be used for the exact problem definition. This study also proposes TRIZ problem definition method by applying the results of requirement definition process. The application of TRIZ is demonstrated to the general situation with no problem definition where the proposed method enables the proper use of TRIZ.

The Effectiveness of DSS in the Stage of Problem Diagnosis-Definition (문제진단 및 정의단계의 DSS 사용효과)

  • Problem definition is as important as problem solving in decision making. Decision makers, however, tend to see problem partly or to define it unclearly. The researchers on decision making tend to lay a focus only on the Process of solving the given problem. This dissertation empirically studied the Problem diagnosis and definition in the decision making process. This study developed three kinds of DSS(Decision Support System) for the research and analyzed the effectiveness of the problem diagnosis and definition using DSS developed in this study. The three kinds of DSS are K-T(Kennel and Tregoe) DSS which is a method of table-styled information Presentation, and F-N(Fact-Net) DSS and C-E(Cause and Effect) DSS which are methods of graphic-styled information presentation. The empirical study was conducted twice; the pilot test and the main test. The samples of experiment are 218 students for the pilot test and 259 students for the main test. The author used K-T DSS and F-N DSS for the pilot test, and the revised K-T DSS and C-E DSS for the main test. A questionnaire survey method was included in the main test process The result of the study shows that the group using DSS in problem diagnosis and definition is more effective than the group not using DSS. A table-styled information presentation DSS, K-T, turns out more effective than a graphic-styled information presentation DSS, F-N, K-T DSS and C-E DSS showed no significant differences in the effectiveness in the main test. These results indicate that the use of DSS in the stage of problem diagnosis and definition is very effective and the methods and types of system design are a significant factors for DSS development.

Operational Definition of Components of Logical Thinking in Problem-solving Process on Informatics Subject (정보 교과의 문제해결과정에서 논리적 사고력 구성요소에 대한 조작적 정의)

  • Previous researches on the improvement of logical thinking in Informatics subject have used general logical thinking test and only limited improvement of logical thinking by programming learning result. In this study, the operational definition of the logical thinking in problem-solving process on Informatics education is different from the general logical thinking and the logical thinking of the other subjects. Firstly, we suggested the operational definition of components of logical thinking using the open questionnaire by expert and research team discussion. Also, we suggested the relationship between the operational definition and contents of the 'problem-solving methods and procedure' section in secondary Informatics subject. Finally, this study developed the evaluation contents based on the operational definition of components of logical thinking. The components of logical thinking which was required in problem-solving process on Informatics subject were ordering reasoning, propositional logic, controlling variables, combinatorial logic, proportional reasoning. We suggested the relationship between operational definition and problem-solving process and assessment of logical thinking in problem-solving process on Informatics subject. This paper will give meaningful insight to supply the guideline of the teaching strategy and evaluation methods for improving the logical thinking in Informatics education.

Definition Sentences Recognition Based on Definition Centroid

  • This paper is concerned with the problem of recognizing definition sentences. Given a definition question like "Who is the person X?", we are to retrieve the definition sentences which capture descriptive information correspond variously to a person's age, occupation, of some role a person played in an event from the collection of news articles. In order to retrieve as many relevant sentences for the definition question as possible, we adopt a centroid based statistical approach which has been applied in summarization of multiple documents. To improve the precision and recall performance, the weight measure of centroid words is supplemented by using external knowledge resource such as Wikipedia and redundant candidate sentences are removed from candidate definitions. We see some improvements obtained by our approach over the baseline for 20 IT persons who have high document frequency.

A Study on Cognitive Development of Scientifically Talented Students toward Definition and Theorem in the Course of Multivariable Calculus

  • We adopt a spirit of Problem based learning to the class of Multivariable Calculus in a school of scientifically talented students and observed effects of our teaching-learning method in the Spring Semester of 2010. Twelve students who enrolled in this class participated in this research. We have proceeded with classroom experiment for the half of semester after midterm exam so that the students could compare our teaching-learning method with usual traditional one in the subject of multivariable calculus. Especially, we investigated changes in the learning attitude and cognitive development of the students toward definition and theorem of mathematics. Each group of 4 students worked on a sheet of our well-designed structured problems of several steps in each class and presented how they understood the way of constructing new definition and related theorems. Instructor's role in this research was to guide students' activities as questioner so that students could attain the clear meanings of definitions and theorems by themselves. We firstly analyzed students' process of mathematization of definition through observing their discussions and presentations as well as their achievements in the quizzes and final exams. Secondly, we analyzed students' class-diaries collected at the end of each class in addition to pre/post surveys.

  • Purpose : To contribute to the development and globalization of physical therapy in south korea. In the near future setting up the new definition of physical therapy making up for present problem and analysis of the physical therapy business. Methods : Checking the definition of physical therapy be in use, and then we draw a new concept and definition according to the job description at ICF of WHO, WCPT, Korea Job Information System, National Health Personnel Licensing Examination Board Analyses. Results : The existing Definition of the korea physical therapy is focus on physical factor and rehabilitation. But, new Definition of physical therapy is contain prevention, functional limitation, therapy of disorder and be made up of definition more detailed and specialized. Conclusion : If definition of the physical therapy out of WCPT used modify and supplement for Korean society, help globalization as well as public relations of national at the Korea physical therapy and take rights physical therapist.

  • This paper introduces a model of practice education for creative problem solving, using five steps on CPS. Learners can get the motivation about development of creative thinking and problem solving skill through the theory of CPS. Furthermore, they can apply problem solving skill to various problem. As a result of the study, the learners could realize the importance of the problem definition and the creative problem solving method. We proposed a guideline about five steps of CPS method and a method about idea evaluation. So, we established the education model about leaners can get the creative problem-solving skill more efficiently.

  • for the kぉ mechanics analysis of a crack in a weld of dissimilar steels, residual stress analysis and fracture analysis must be performed simultaneously. The standard definition of the J-integral leads to a path dependent value in the presence of a residual stress field. And unlike cracks in homogeneous materials, a bimaterial interface crack always induces both opening and shearing modes of stress in the vicinity of the crack tip. Therefore, it is necessary to develope a path independent J-integral definition for a crack in a residual stress field generated by welding of dissimilar steels. This paper addresses the modification of the Rice-J-integral to produce a path independent J-integral when residual stresses due to welding of dissimilar steels and external forces are present. The residual stress problem is heated as an initial stain problem and the J-integral proposed for this class of problems is used And a program which can evaluate the 1-integral for a crack in a weld of dissimialr steels is developed using proposed J-integral definition.

A heuristic search on noninferior solutions to the Halkin-typed linear quantized optimal control problem with two performance functions

  • In quantized control systems, the control values can take only given discrete (e.g. integer) values. In case of dealing with the control problem on the discrete-time, final-stage fixed, quantized control systems with multidimensional performance functions, the first thing, new definition on noninferior solutions in these systems is necessary because of their discreteness in state variables, and the efficient search for those solutions at final-stage is unavoidable for seeking their discrete-time optimal controls to these systems. In this paper, to the quantized control problem given by the formulation of Halkin-typed linear control systems with two performance functions, a new definition on noninferior solutions of this system control problem and a heuristic effective search on these noninferior solutions are stated. By use of these concepts, two definitions on noninferior solutions and the algorithm consisted of 8 steps and attained by geometric approaches are given. And a numerical example using the present algorithm is shown.

  • This paper suggest the methods when we solve problems by TRIZ before grasp of customer needs by Kano model. Recently, many companies are very interested in TRIZ such as Six Sigma. Especially, the company commences to use TRIZ for solving a lot of problems in which occur by products and services. But It will be happen a lot of time and costs to solve all problems completely. Finally, This paper helps more effective problem definition to avail Kano model for reducing time and costs at solving problems by TRIZ.
