  • In the RFID system, bulk tag information is stored into the back-end database as plaintext format not ciphertext. In this case, the tags's private informations can be easily compromised by an external hacker or an insider attacker. If the private informations of tags disclosed by the attackers, it can occur serious privacy invasion problem. Recently the database(DB) security is an important issue to prevent the above DB compromised attack. However, DB security for RFID systeme has not been considered yet. If we use the DB security technique into the RFID system, the above described privacy invasion' problem can be easily prevented. Based on this motivation, this paper proposes a secure and efficient back-end database security and authentication(S-DB) scheme with XOR-based encryption/decryption algorithm. In the proposed scheme, all tag's private information is encrypted and stored by using the DB secret key to protect the DB compromised attack. As a result, the proposed S-DB scheme 'can provide stronger security and more efficiency for the secure RFID system environment.

  • The case for study in this paper is the Main Plan and Management for the Fukutoshin; the restructure of Nishi Shinjuku, This plan was first outlines in 1960, and includes a vast area of 96 ha for redevelopment. It aims to create a totally new center in the city. This was the first case in Japan, and in the world of a plan of these magnitudes. involving urban landscape restructuring from three points: Landscape (open spaces for public use: the Shinjuku Central Park and the surrounding area of the buildings), transport and commercial building developments. The Landscape plan for the green areas was decided in a way to compensate the population of the area and the visitors. As a rule, high-rise building constructions are placed each one in single lots and are surrounded by open spaces and greenery. Pedestrain areas are widened and also connected by bridges in a way to allow free circulation, and interconnection between the constructions and the green areas. Another important factor is the role that Private Corporation, and public interest plays. Joining these two forces has allowed the concretization of this project. This interpolation between public and private roles was an innovation in Japan, and it also the key for the concretion of the project. The historical review of the process and management of this project help us to put into perspective the introduction of new concepts and ideas, which were not related at that time to traditional Japanese Landscaping. Furthermore we are better able to understand the substantial increase in the percentage of land dedicated to green areas in contrast to the typical standards of Japanese cities.

  • U-City pursues personalized service by collecting contexts through sensors located over the city and presenting the service automatically depending not on the user's request but on the situations that are needed. To provide the personalized service, however, contexts collected through various sensors are needed, and they include private information. Therefore, it is important to keep a balance between the convenience by presenting service and protecting private information. In this paper, we classify and grade person's various contexts requested in the personalized service environment. Based on these, we make decisions on whether to present the service or not by profile-matching between user profile and service profile. Also, we propose an efficient privacy-protection management scheme to encrypt transmitted private information and to control key distribution.

  • These days open source softwares are being introduced and applied in many countries in the world. Especially, both government and private companies tend to become an spearhead in vitalizing the open source software. In this paper we try to check the degree of vitalizations in open source GIS software and to draw implications in vitalizing ecosystem of open source GIS software. Key players of open source GIS software ecosystem are government, private companies, academic and research institutes, and nonprofit foundations. Government does not have very little policies related to the investment and the support of open source GIS software. Private companies related to the open source GIS software are very few in the number and do not have any clear business model to make a profit. Academic and research institutes are weak in using the open source GIS software, which can be an major obstacle to cultivate software developers. OSGeo Korean branch, established in 2009, is the only nonprofit foundation in Korea which makes an effort to vitalize the open source GIS software, but its results are not very strong up to now in view of both quality and invigoration. In order to vitalize the open source GIS software ecosystem, lots of efforts of key players are needed. Especially, government efforts are very important because it can provide a trigger in vitalizing the open source GIS software ecosystem. The tasks that government should propel are R&D investment, test bed projects in the area of public sector, professional manpower training, and international cooperation and marketing.

  • The purpose of this study was focused on the relationship between private guards' job embeddedness and dual commitment. In this study, job embeddedness is selected as an independent variable and dual commitment is selected as a dependent variable one. job embeddedness was divided into three sub-factors such as "fit", "links", and "sacrifice", and dual commitment is again composed with organizational commitment, and career commitment. Moreover sex, age, academic background, service period, and income were selected as a control variable. To test the hypotheses, survey data from private guards in Kyungpook are collected and analyzed. Principal component method is used to see which items cluster together in each factor and to calculate factor scores. Multiple regression analysis identifies several factors which have significant effects on dual commitment. Key finding can be summarized as follow. Fist, the factor of "fit" have significant effects on organizational commitment, and career commitment. Second, the factor of "links" have significant effects on organizational commitment, and career commitment. Third the factor of "sacrifice" have significant effects on organizational commitment, and career commitment. Finally, when all the variables with significant effects are included in the final model, "links" disappear, while "fit" and "sacrifice" remain statistically significant. Based on these finding, this study suggests some policy issues to promote private guards' dual commitment.

  • To relieve Green-house Gas Emission is the key issue in urban area. Urban transport policies have focused on the reduction of private car use. The most common of these is Travel Demand Management(e.g., congestion charge, environmental tax, etc.) that forces individuals to reduce their private car use. An alternative way is Mobility Management(MM) that induces individuals to voluntarily change their car use through communications. MM is founded on social psychology theory and focuses on individuals' decision making processes to change their perception and attitude on private car use. Although some researchers have reported the relevance of MM approach, still few researches have explicitly studied on individuals' decision making processes. Therefore, the aims of the paper are to analyze the decision making process of individuals and to provide the basis of introducing MM approach in Korea. Structural equation model(SEM) is applied for the analysis of individuals' decision making process. A empirical study shows that psychological factors such as perception/attitude on global environment or individual norms impact significantly to reduce private car use and accordingly the relevance of introducing MM approach instead of imposing regulations or expanding transport facilities.

  • Accountable Internet Protocol (AIP) is one of the future Internet architectures to provide accountability concept by using the self-certifying address that is derived by the public key of the host. In AIP, when a host sends a packet, a domain that is located between the source and the destination hosts discards the packet in order to verify the source IP address. Therefore, performance degradation can occur due to packet discard especially when there is asymmetric route. In this paper, we propose the improved AIP mechanism to verify the source IP address without discarding the packet by including the timestamp, public key value and the signature for protecting from forfeiting the source address. Security safety of the proposed mechanism is evaluated and the proposed mechanism can provide the more robust security as well as reducing the latency due to discarding packets.
