  • Mechanical load measurements on blade and tower of Vestas 100 kW wind turbine has been reformed in Wollyong test site, Jeju island. The experimental procedure for the measurement of wind turbine loads, such as edgewise(lead-lag) bending moment, flapwise bending moment, and tower base bending moment, has been established. The test facilities consisting of strain-gauges, telemetry and T-Mon system are installed in the wind turbine. Strain gauges are on-site calibrated against load cell prior to monitoring the wind turbine loads. Using the test setup, the loads on the components are being measured and analysed for various external conditions of the wind turbine. A set of results for near rated wind speed has been presented in this paper.

  • The structural strength assessment of a carbody was performed using F.E. analysis and static test to verify the structural safety of newly manufactured carbody of a freight car. The freight car for the transportation of cold-rolled coils in steel making company was designed with SS400 steel for underframe and SM490A steel for bracket. Prior to the evaluation of structural strength, commercial finite element method(FEM) software was used for the stress and structural analyses on stress distribution in a carbody of freight car. The strain gages were attached on the carbody based on the FEM results. The actual vertical loading test and horizontal compression loading test were conducted, and the stress and displacement were obtained. Finally, the structural strength of carbody was evaluated by using a engineering techniques.

  • This paper describes the Bayesian approach for reliability demonstration test based on the samples from a finite population. The Bayesian approach involves the technical method about how to combine the prior distribution and the likelihood function to produce the posterior distribution. In this paper, the hypergeometric distribution is adopted as a likelihood function for a finite population. The conjugacy of the beta-binomial distribution and the hypergeometric distribution is shown and is used to make a decision about whether to accept or reject the finite population judging from a viewpoint of faulty goods. A numerical example is also given.

  • A multiple test of a mean parameter, λ, in the Poisson model is considered using the Bayes factor. Under noninformative improper priors, the intrinsic Bayes factor(IBF) of Berger and Pericchi(1996) and the fractional Bayes factor(FBF) of O'Hagan(1995) called as the default or automatic Bayes factors are used to select one among three models, M$_1$: λ< $λ_0, M$_2$: λ= $λ_0, M$_3$: λ> $λ_0. Posterior probability of each competitive model is computed using the default Bayes factors. Finally, theoretical results are applied to simulated data and real data.

  • Meta-analysis refers to quantitative methods for combining results from independent studies in order to draw overall conclusions. We consider hierarchical models including selection models under a skewed heavy tailed error distribution proposed originally by Chen et al. (1999) and Branco and Dey (2001). These rich classes of models combine the information of independent studies, allowing investigation of variability both between and within studies, and incorporate weight function. Here, the testing for the skewness parameter is discussed. The score test statistic for such a test can be shown to be expressed as the posterior expectations. Also, we consider the detail computational scheme under skewed normal and skewed Student-t distribution using MCMC method. Finally, we introduce one example from Johnson (1993)'s real data and apply our proposed methodology. We investigate sensitivity of our results under different skewed errors and under different prior distributions.

  • External vibration occurred during vehicle's movement can affect performance of communication equipment and reliability of internal critical components of it. Therefore, through environmental testing, verification is performed prior to system test in order to prevent these problems. In this study, anti-vibration design is applied to compensate for the failure in certain frequencies during environmental test. Through the dynamic analysis according to the changes of mount configuration, optimization of the mount assemble structure was performed.

  • In this paper, we analyze the characteristics for the driving shock resistance of the military vehicle through the bump test. Prior to the experiment, theoretical analysis was performed by using the SRS(shock response spectrum) and VRS(vibration response spectrum) analysis method. And we estimated the characteristics for the driving shock resistance of the military vehicle. Bump test was performed using the acceleration sensor and the driving test at a different speed. We evaluated the characteristics for the driving shock resistance of the military vehicle based on the result. And predicted values were compared with the theoretical analysis. In addition, we evaluated the results of the theoretical prediction of the SRS and the VRS analysis. And we evaluate the suitability of the prediction method at military vehicle shock analysis.

  • As a cryogen, LOx is a light blue, odorless, transparent liquid. Also it is not shock sensitive and does not decompose. However, it is a strong oxidizer and will vigorously support combustion. Therefore all harmful contaminants (such as grease, oil, fingerprint and organic materials) that could cause malfunctions, fires, or explosions in a oxygen environments must be completely removed prior to the introduction of oxygen. Especially, grease ingredient located inside of the LOx supply line, pipe and PHS (Pneumo-Hydraulic System) part can make drastic chemical reaction with oxygen. Therefore, to protect rapid reaction such as explosion, grease ingredient must be surely eliminated by a regular and irregular degreasing. Study on the availability, effectiveness and selection of degreasing detergents and method is described in this paper, and it will be useful for the construction and management of IPP test facility.

  • Shot peening is an effective method of improving the fatigue strength of components and structures. The compressive residual stress produced by surface plastic deformation with shot peening is usually regarded as the major factor in increasing fatigue strength. In this study, the influence of shot peening on corrosion was investigated. Spring steel immersed in $3.5\%$ NaCl prior was used to evaluate the effect of shot peening on fatigue properties. The immersion test was performed on the five kinds of specimens with shot peened and unpeened. The distributions of residual stresses of shot peened spring steels were measured in an X-ray diffraction apparatus, using the two-point method. Corrosion potential, polarization curve, residual stress, etc. were investigated, based on the experimental results. From test results, the effect of shot peening on the corrosion was evaluated.

  • We evaluated four commercially available methamphetamine immunoassays for their relative cross-reactivities of amphetamine analogues in human urine: Abbott TDx, Vitalab Selectra and on-site test kits (Accusign MET, SD bioline MET). High cross-reactivities were shown at designer's drugs such as methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA), methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) and methylenedioxyethylamphetamine (MDEA) in all of the tested immunoassays. Methoxyphenamine, fenfluramine and phentermine were positive in TDx and Selectra, but were not positive in on-site test kits. Pseudoephedrine, norpseudoephedrine, ephedrine, norephedrine, MDMA, MDA, fenfluramine and phentermine were detected by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry(GC/MS) in false positive urines. Since the overall specificity of any of the devices was not 100%, we found it is important to confirm any positive screening test result, so we developed simultaneous determination of amphetamine analogues in urines. After alkalinization of the urine samples with 6-N NaOH, the analytes were extracted using ethyl acetate, derivatized with pentafluoropropyl anhydride (PFPA) prior at GC/MS analysis.
