  • The repeatability error creeps in every corner of mechanical design as mechanical design becomes diverse and complicated. Inkjet printing has inherent repeatability error problem due to its nature of seamless incremental image synthesis of partial images. Without the calibration for the repeatability error realization of high print quality or enhancement of other printing performance could be impaired. Printer designers have met this recurrent problem even before the inception of inkjet print device and contrived various solutions as their own intelectual proprietary. Also, it is a trend to perform necessary calibration without painstaking human intervention. To come up with another useful and proprietary solution has become an important ingredient in inkjet printer design. This paper presents such a solution developed at Digital Printing Division of Samsung Electronics Company.

  • Recently, a great interest in 3D printing has emerged, although many existing 3D printing technologies were first developed 2-3 decades ago. There are many mature 3D printing processes and materials; however, active research and development efforts are ongoing in this area to advance the technologies. Several companies have already started to use 3D printed parts as actual components. Many low-cost 3D printers have been released on the market, which are of particular interest to educators and hobbyists. This paper provides a brief review of 3D printing technologies and research trends. In addition, several state-of-the-art technologies and applications are introduced.

  • Recently, 3D printing has received increasing attention due to its boundless potentials. Because 3D printing starts from 3D geometry information, computer-aided design (CAD) is an essential technology to build 3D geometry data. These days, education of 3D CAD for engineering students has been changed from the theoretical lecture to practical design training using commercial CAD software. As a result, open-ended design projects have replaced the traditional theoretical examinations to evaluate students' outcomes. However, such design projects are not enough to evaluate students' outcomes because their results are expressed in two-dimensional ways. In this paper, applications of 3D printing in engineering design education are discussed by describing the procedure and outcomes of design projects. It was found that the use of 3D printing could improve students' outcomes by fabricating real physical models out of their designs.

  • The inkjet printing technology has undergone remarkable development since the concept of printed electronics was first introduced. The large interest which it has sparkled is due to its many enticing features such as processing simplicity, low cost and scalability as well as its compatibility with flexible electronics. Thanks to constant improvements, inkjet printing has nowadays become a mature technology which is an effective replacement for a number of intricate and expensive conventional laboratory tools and is also on the verge of gaining industrial significance. Technological challenges which still remain open include low temperature processing, high density integration and reproducibility. This paper reviews some recent advances in the inkjet printing technology, addressing those issues. And we also discuss a number of novel approaches to performing inkjet printing.

  • This paper presents how to design and fabricate the gravure offset printing system for enhancement of register precision. Factors of precision error are caused by imprecision of gravure plate, deformation of substrate, printing quality change due to the change of ink viscosity, Imprecision of printing machine, and so on. This study suggests concept design of gravure offset printing system which is able to minimize or remove these error factors.

  • Construction automation is needed to improve construction productivity. 3D printing is a key technology of the 4th industrial revolution, and when applied to the construction field, the ripple effect is very large. In this paper, we propose a 3D printing method that can predict the 3D printing process and estimate the construction duration for each process. Through literature review and expert consultation, eight 3D printing activities for structure work were derived. Construction duration and cost estimation for each activity will be needed in the future research.

  • The effect of fabrication method of catalytic layer on electrode performance has been investigated. Brush, spray gun and screen printer were used as fabrication tool and catalytic layers were formed by several methods in screen printing. Direct screen printing on polymer membrane, screen printing on carbon paper, and their combined method were applied. In the electrode fabricated by the screen printing method, Pt loading of Pt/C catalysts could be cut down to 50%, compared with results by the brushing and spraying methods. The best result of electrode was obtained as 0.6 V, at 1 A/$\textrm{cm}^2$ when catalytic layer was formed by the combined way.

  • The character of standing box printing reguires a rich representation on a light and a shade of color and cause the modern photographs to be abundant of the ink and also show the continuity of which any other printing is incapable because of its profound gradation. The clear printing in gravure can be said to be due to the good transfer of the ink-the completion of the transference of the ink into the stencil paper and the clear transference of the printing tone. The most inportant matter is the distance between the printing press and the doctor line. It is the matter of the structure and arrangement because of giving the most affect on the dryness of the ink in the cell. The glue of the ink in gravure changes by the kinds of the dye and the cellusolve used.

  • The characteristics of polymer inkjet printing were investigated systematically in this paper. PEDOT/PSS as a hole injection layer and MEH-PPV as a light emitting layer were used for inkjet printing experiment. Inkjet head controlling technology and surface modification technology were also applied for polymer inkjet printing. With the developed polymer inkjet printing technology, OLED(Organic Light Emitting Display) was successfully fabricated and demonstrated.
